Chapter 58: Elixir of Immortality

“Stop!”

A commanding voice suddenly sounded from afar. Then, a middle-aged man approached. As soon as he appeared, everyone’s attention was on him. His bearing was powerful and his figure tall and imposing. He looked like a general in charge of the lives and deaths of many.

The middle-aged man stared at Lin Yun curiously. Lin Yun felt his entire body being scanned by a strong Spiritual force.

“Boy, is your name Lin Yun, and are you sixteen-years-old this year?” The middle-aged man asked slowly with a serious expression on his face.

Lin Yun froze before finally reacting. “Are you Du Zi?”

“Shut up, are you fit to call Du Zi by his name?” The fat middle-aged man yelled loudly.

Du Zi did not seem bothered by it. Instead, a smile appeared on his face. “Is there anything your father wanted you to tell me?”

When he heard the question, Lin Yun answered quickly, “He asked me to ask you, does it still hurt?”

“Sputter.”

The captain who always kept a straight face couldn’t help but laugh. Suddenly, Lin Yun understood. Does Du Zi still hurt[1]?

“Bastard, how dare you make a joke of Chief Du’s name!” The fat man scolded loudly as if he was greatly insulted by Lin Yun’s joke.

“Hahahaha!”

Du Zi didn’t seem to mind. He laughed. “Old Lin, Old Lin, I didn’t expect you to still remember me.”

Then, he stopped smiling, looked around, and asked, “What’s going on, who sounded the alarm?”

Wang Cheng quickly walked over and said angrily, “Who do you think you are, behaving so cocky? You’re almost as cocky as our base’s officer-in-charge. I sounded the alarm because these two murderers tried to rob the base.”

Wang Cheng had just finished speaking when his father ran to him and slapped him in the face. His father reprimanded him loudly. “No one would think you’re dumb if you keep quiet! How dare you be rude to Officer Du? Step back!”

Wang Cheng covered his face and looked at his father doubtfully. He didn’t understand why his father was so protective of this middle-aged man named Du Zi, who was not even a senior officer in the base. With his father’s background, even the highest chief of the base was inconsequential to him.

“Robbing the base? It’s what your father used to do.” Du Zi was not annoyed. Instead, he stared at Lin Yun, amused. His expression was like a man looking at a junior from a younger generation.

It seemed that his father was close to Du Zi. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have made such a casual joke. Lin Yun explained, “We didn’t rob. My team has just destroyed a Demon stronghold and seized a box of potions. When exchanging for Contribution Points, Wang Cheng wanted one of our bottles for himself. When we found out, he sounded the alarm and tried to kill us.”

Du Zi’s face suddenly changed as he asked coldly, “Did this really happen?”

“Yes, calling up the Skynet System video records can prove our innocence,” Lin Yun said aloud.

The fat man’s face suddenly turned pale. He kicked Wang Cheng down and scolded loudly. “You’re disgraceful! How many times have I told you that you have to enforce the law impartially? Why won’t you just listen! What potion did you take? Hand it over, quickly!”

“But father, that’s…” Wang Cheng grimaced and stuttered as he tried to explain.

“Brat, I don’t care what it is. Didn’t I tell you, even if it’s the most expensive Elixir of Immortality, you cannot appropriate it? Have you ignored everything I have been teaching you over the years?”

Wang Cheng was still very hesitant and said with a trembling voice, “But…”

The golden yellow potion was packed in a transparent crystal test tube. At first glance, it seemed to be nothing special. But upon closer examination, the liquid inside seemed to be swirling about slowly. This potion seemed to be alive.

Suddenly, Du Zi and the fat man froze.

Du Zi’s figure flashed, and in the next moment, the potion was already in his hand. Lin Yun didn’t manage to see how the potion ended up in his hands. There was no doubt that Du Zi’s Physical Strength was above Level 6.

Du Zi stared at the golden potion in a daze for a while and said softly, “It’s really an Elixir of Immortality.”

Du Zi frowned and lowered his head in contemplation. After a long time, he said gravely with a serious expression on his face, “This Elixir of Immortality should have come from the Human Alliance. If I’m not wrong, there must be a traitor inside the Human Alliance. The old man whom the ghost soldiers were guarding should be an Alchemist, not repair personnel.”

Du Zi continued, “If the communication system was paralyzed, how did the Demon base know about it so quickly? How were they communicating? If it’s just to repair the communication system, there’s no need to send three ghost soldiers as guards. So, their purpose must be to protect the Alchemist who is supposed to authenticate the Elixir of Immortality.”

Du Zi spoke in a low voice as he looked at Lin Yun. Suddenly, he shouted, “This is not good!

“Since this potion is so precious, how is it possible that the Demon Race didn’t send troops to recover it?” Du Zi quickly looked around and shouted loudly, “Everyone, return immediately to your combat posts and stay alert.”

As soon as his voice fell, loud sirens echoed over the base.

“Alert, the Skynet Crystal is under attack!”
