I Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Villain

Azazel was on his way to check up on Yohann when he saw Amias standing near the door. He didn't see Amias earlier when he went to Arda. He only assumed that the guy either went off to commit debauchery or do some of Luciel's dirty work. So it was a surprise to him that he saw him here.

"You're not going in?" Azazel asks Amias who suddenly tensed up due to being startled.

"You startled me Azazel"

'Azazel?' Perhaps he got used to being called Azzy that hearing his full name from Amias sounded off.

"Did something happen?"

"No there's nothing. Kassandra is busy talking to Yohann inside and I just wanted to take a peek."

Azazel thought that maybe Amias was upset. Maybe it was that he remembered what happened in the past and he still couldn't face the two together. Azazel reached out to Amias but the latter instinctively avoided his hand.

"I'm sorry" Azazel suddenly apologizes and Amias shook his head.

"No, it was just-ah" Amias suddenly made himself disappear the moment he heard Kassandra was walking to the door.

When Kassandra opened the door, all she saw was Azazel.

"Was Amias here?" Kassandra looked around and she could vaguely sense Amias' presence.

"No, I was talking to a nurse earlier. I just wanted to tell you that Damien will be heading out tonight." of course, Azazel won't make things between the two of them even more awkward.

"Thank you. Do you want to come in?" She tilted her head to the side.

Azazel had heard of Yohann regaining his consciousness yesterday. But due to circumstances, the other nobles were not able to make a visit.

"Will Yohann be alright with it?" Azazel was still hesitant since no one knew what he had gone through when he was gone.

"I think so. He hasn't shown me any discomfort except when the nurse came in to hand us his food."

Kassandra and Yohann were talking at that time when a nurse knocked at the door. Kassandra told them to come in and the moment the nurse walked into the room, Yohann tensed up. With every step that the nurse took, his grip got tighter and his expression worsened. Kassandra ultimately had to stop the nurse and tell them to leave the food right where they were and walk out. Only when the nurse had left did Yohann manage to breathe.

This made Kassandra assume that Yohann was alright with seeing unfamiliar people at a distance but the moment they come closer to him, he will panic. Then perhaps someone familiar to him, like herself, should be able to approach him.

Kassandra stepped to the side and motioned for Yohann to look at her. She called out to her brother and showed Azazel.

"Yohann, Do you remember Azazel?"

Yohann stared at Azazel for a moment before smiling and nodding. Seeing her little brother's smile, Kassandra also smiled and slowly guided Azazel into the room. So far Yohann was still fine so this meant that her theory that those people he's familiar with can interact with him.

"We were just trying to recall some stuff that happened when we were young" Kassandra tells Azazel as she pulled a seat for him and she grabs another for herself. Yohann nodded and Azazel felt a little bit awkward since it was only Kassandra speaking.

"I see um... is he always this quiet?"

"Oh he can talk but..." Kassandra looked at her brother who smiled at her once again.

"I'll just assume this but I think he mixed up his memories from his time being... cursed and his time with us here. And because of that, he can't entirely remember everything"

With that being said, it could mean Yohann still remembers that his tongue got severed even though he was healed and could talk. Azazel was the person who saw Yohann so he knew of the situation and he immediately whispered to Kassandra.

"Does that mean he'll be scared of the prince?"

"I'm not quite sure since I haven't seen the prince visit him when he got conscious"

Azazel moved away from Kassandra and looked at Yohann. Yohann had been staring at him intensely before grabbing the notepad and pen that Kassandra had placed next to him. Kassandra moved from her seat and sat next to Yohann's bed while asking him what he was writing. Yohann didn't bother to hide it since he was almost done but Kassandra laughed a little.

Azazel was confused as to why this woman was giggling and then Yohann flipped his notepad.

"Why is your hair pink? I remember it being light blond"

"I..." Azazel didn't know how to respond to that. Meanwhile, Yohann was still trying to figure out what was up with Azazel's ridiculous hair color.

Kassandra on the other hand was trying to stop laughing. "I did ask him the same thing a while back" she said in between her laughter.

Upon hearing his sister's response, wrote something again. Kassandra was not able to see what it was since Yohann flipped it immediately.

"Did Amias and Damien do this to you?" Yohann was pouting since he missed those two troublemakers. He thought;

'That's unfair, I would have made his hair green instead of pink since girls still like pink-haired boys'

"Yes and No. Amias and Damien did this to my hair the first few times but I got used to seeing my hair be pink so I dyed it myself"

"Oh, so that's the story" Kassandra stopped laughing the moment she heard Amias' name and sat back on to her seat.

"Yeah" Azazel's cheeks were a little red since it was embarrassing to admit that he grew to like the color.

Yohann wrote something as a reply since he could tell Azazel was embarrassed.

"I'm used to seeing it light blond but it looks nice on you"

"You're still nice" Azazel mumbled and Yohann motioned for him to come closer.

Azazel followed and to his surprise, Yohann touched his hair.

'It looks like cotton candy' Yohann thought as he touched Azazel's hair.

"umm?"

Yohann stopped and wrote down what he thought of earlier. Seeing the note just made him sigh. He went back to his seat and spoke more with the two before bidding them farewell. Yohann wrote another note asking Azazel to come visit with the other two nobles tomorrow.

Azazel was unsure of what to answer to that. He looked at Kassandra as if he was asking for permission. Kassandra glanced at Azazel then at her brother who seemed to be confused about the silent conversation that his elders were having. 

Kassandra thought about it for a while before sighing in defeat and nodding. Seeing this, Azazel now replied.

"Damien is busy with missions but I can bring Amias with me"

Yohann felt a little bit disappointed that Damien was busy. But it was still good that Amias was going to visit him. He misses his friend dearly and he remembered that he made him upset with something.

Something... during a mission?

It hurts a little to try and remember.

Because of that, Yohann stopped trying to think about it. He'll just ask Amias what he did wrong and apologize for it. Amias was nice to him and tells him if he was in the wrong.

Kassandra walked with Azazel out of the room and when the door closed, only then did she speak again.

"I can't be in the same room with Amias and Yohann"

"I know"

"Then you know what I'm trying to say here?"

"That I should watch over Yohann? yeah. But if you're that concerned, it's better for you to stay with him"

"And what? have Amias freeze up around me again? Earlier I know he was out here talking with you. I'm still pissed that my brother had to go through shit because of him but I had to accept it. I don't hate him as much nowadays since Luciel did explain to me that Amias did try to get help for my brother otherwise it would have been the both of them"

She remembered that night when Luciel slapped her when she demanded that Amias should get executed. He knew what she was going through, even right now he still continued to mourn. He knew he screamed at him and insulted Amias at one point so he's aware that he's a hypocrite right now for punishing Kassandra who had done the same. 

The only difference between the both of them is that Luciel wanted Amias to know his pain not to know death.

"I'll let this slide since I'm also at fault here for assigning this mission to them. I did not expect this chain of events so don't see it that I sent them to their deaths." Luciel lowered his hand and walked back to his desk.

"I've heard from the others as well as their subordinates, Amias did try to save Yohann. You should remember that Amias is the weakest of the two. Even if he stayed there to help Yohann escape, then it would have been the both of them" Luciel poured some vodka into his glass and walked back to Kassandra before handing it to her.

"The both of them did their best in their situation. Your brother died a hero, so instead of forcing the person he saved to die.... Honor his death instead"
