I'm The Boss's Secretary?!

Chapter 35 - I Can’t Breathe

In an instant, the whole elevator turned pitch black. The two felt the elevator running down at a speed and Jung Hwa calmly bent his knees to take a hold of Han Seoyeon. But before the elevator reached the bottom, it stopped at a floor and the shakes stopped. The place was still without a light but for Jung Hwa who was a vampire, the blackness didn't block his sight. He saw Han Seoyeon still on her spot, with her face bending down, he couldn't take a proper look at her expression. Gently he took her hand only to feel the harsh trembling from her hand.

"Seoyeon, are you alright?" She didn't answer, to be precise no words could come out from her mouth right now. The memories were still fresh as though it happened only a few hours ago for her to remember.

Since her childhood, the place she hated the most was a dark and narrowed place. She had been abused by the orphanage where she was given. Any time she tried to ask for more food or when she couldn't clean a few places due to how small she was, they didn't hold back and beat her black and blue. But she never feared getting beaten by the orphanage workers, what she feared the most was to be locked in the old storage room. Years had passed since the incident and soon her fear of darkness became better but when she was inside a dark and narrow place, the memories rushed to her mind, the fear and the sadness she had when she was still but a child.

"I can't breathe." She gasped, forcing the words out of her mouth.

"Seoyeon." Jung Hwa pressed his tone, the trembling of her hands became worse and now like her words, she showed signs of a person who can not breathe. "Stay with me." He said but there was no response. Her face became pale as a paper and her chest felt heavy and painful. Clutching to the fabric over her chest she heaved her breaths, trying to grasp for air but something in her body prevented her from doing so.

"Tch." Jung clicked his tongue, taking his wrist he used his sharp fang to bite the skin over his hand and let his blood pool down bellow him. His voice was low as he ordered the blood. "Bring us out." At his order, the blood multiplied in size, growing into a large pool to evaporate into a red mist and wrapped the two people. The next time Han Seoyeon opened her eyes, lights blinded her view for a moment. In the midst of her blurry sight, she saw Jung Hwa's face. His lips were mouthing something but at her state, she can't clearly hear how words.

"Seoyeon." His velvet voice rang to her ears, slowly he cooed her and brought her ears close to his chest. "Follow my voice, you are fine now. The lights are here and no one will harm you." His hand brushed her head gently bringing the warmth and light she needed in the darkness she was swallowed into.

It doesn't take long for Jung Hwa to fill his puzzles. He recalled the conversation he had with Han Seoyeon regarding darkness. Frightening was the word she used and now he could finally understand. When a person deemed someone frightening it wouldn't be as much as the way she had her panic attacks. It was much worse than a phobia. Her heart must have wounded since her childhood.

"Thank you, Mr. Jung." She said between her heaved breaths.

"It is fine, can you breathe now?" He saw her nodding in confirmation. "Good, we should go now." His eyes saw her legs still unable to muster the power and observed around her breathings. As he saw her condition slowly easing and carefully wrapped one of his hands under her knees and the other on her waist.

Truthfully Han Seoyeon was still in lack of energy and could only say a few words. "Mr. Jung, I am alright-"

"If you are saying that you are fine and can walk now I will put you down but you should know better than me now that don't have any energy now." His sternness was out of his care for her. Having no word to say or protest, she held back her protest. Having someone carrying her was one of the new things she had never felt before. It felt weird but it wasn't unpleasant, she though.

Carrying her from the place, Jung Hwa went to his office and laid her down to the maroon longue. Seeing how gentle he placed her down she almost doubted his identity as a vampire. When she held his hand, she could feel how his grip was strong enough to shatter a person's bone, and never did she expected the man to have such a very gentle touch.

For once, Jung Hwa went out of his office and once he came back in his hands he held a cold drink which seemed to have just been bought from a refrigerator. "Drink this." He offered the drink but took it away for a moment to open the cap and placed it over her hand. As she took a few mouthfuls of the drink she saw Jung Hwa sitting there looking at her with his eyes which had turned bright red. It also took a while for her to notice how his hand was wounded in a large diagonal cut.

"Is your hand alright?" Jung Hwa raised his hand giving his grin he casually spoke. "Were you worried about this?" She nodded. "If that's the case then you don't have to. A few seconds and it should heal on its own." And like his words she saw the speed of his wounds closing into a seamless movement before it completely disappeared as though there had been no such wound inflicted on his hand in the first place.

Although Han Seoyeon didn't know how did they transport from the elevator which was locked, she knew it must have something to do with the wound he had on his wrist. His vampire power to be exact as by the time his red eyes were still glowing ablaze. "But it must be painful.." Concern made the knit of her brows to tightened over her fair forehead.
