Kyron understood what he had to do. As he slowly and calmly walked to his Exam Room, he steeled himself. He arrived at the entrance and opened the door slowly. He marveled at the structure and brightness of the room. As a creature who had previously lived in a dark world, this was indeed a wonder.
The room was blank and plain. The white color of the room mesmerized him. He saw no one in the room, though he sensed someone was observing him.
He left the entrance, and carefully walked ahead, leaving the closing door behind him. He was quite cautious, though maintaining his calm composure. Suddenly, he heard the Supervisor speak.
"Welcome, Participant!" A broadcasted voice filled the entire room. "This is your Placement exam Supervisor speaking." It continued.
Kyron remained quiet.
"The Rules for your exam are as follows." The Supervisor continued.
Kyron observed the walls, as they projected what he was supposed to read in relation to the exam. This much was within his expectations... And so, he read them.

Kyron was amazed at the rules. Was this a joke? Sure, he knew his Abilities had been largely downplayed and all, but still... This was too easy. How much would he need to hold back under these circumstances?
"I accept" Kyron stated firmly.
The rules which were projected vanished immediately.
There was no response from the Supervisor, but Kyron waited patiently. Suddenly, all the lights went out. The entire room was enveloped in darkness. Kyron took this as a sign that the exams had already began.
Kyron's sights were functioning normally though, and even though Orion didn't know of his full capabilities, they should have known this much. What could they be up to?
Kyron decided not to take any chances and underestimate the exam. He focused his eyes, sharpened his senses and braced himself for any incoming threat, but sensed nothing.
Suddenly, the lights came back on, brighter and exponentially more intense than it had been previously. This stunned Kyron for a moment, and then suddenly, enemies appeared out of nowhere, taking advantage of this moment of weakness, advancing to attack.
His eyes were still stunned, but Kyron could hear their footsteps as they approached him. He could also sense them. His enemies were not living beings.
"Figures" He mused to himself.
They were machines, humanoid in appearances though.
"They're fast" Kyron said, as he heard their foot clanging on the floor as they drew close to him.
They leapt, about to hit him. One brought a kick, another was a right hook, while two were a grabs.
"I see, the two intend to immobilize me, the right hook will hit me, making me lose balance, and the kick will send me to the ground." Kyron thought to himself.
If he had wanted, he could get rid of the whole lot of them, but he had to stick to the plan. This didn't mean he had to get hit though.
Kyron leapt from his location, accurately evading the assault of his enemies at the last minute. As he balanced himself in his new location, his eyesight completely restored, The floor below them opened and his opponents began to enter the ground.
As he attempted to chase after them, leaving where he was, the Lights were turned off again, leaving everywhere in complete darkness. Kyron paused due to this interference, and his enemies managed to slip away
"Tch" He stated to himself.
Normally, the darkness wouldn't be an issue for him, but since there was extreme light previously, after he regained his sight he had programmed his eyes to operate under the extreme brightness. Switching to instant and utter darkness took him a few seconds to adjust back into.
"Oh... I see now" Kyron said.
So this was their tactic, this was his exam....
They would alternate between extreme darkness and extreme brightness, knowing it would take him a few seconds to recover from the sudden switch. He was to make the best use of the situation, and come up with a way to win even under such circumastances.
"Hmmmn, this might not be as easy as I had thought" Kyron said to himself.
"But, I won't disappoint my master, my friend... My brother, Darey." He resolved.
This entire process went on for an hour, and Kyron had no luck. Two hours, but still no luck, Two hours and thirty minutes... No luck... Two hours and fifty minutes, no win. Two hours and fifty-five minutes... Still nothing. Two hours... Fifty-nine minutes passed.
The exam would end in one more minute. Over the course of his encounters with the machines, Kyron realized that they were six in number. Judging by their movement patterns and their looks, there were six distinct machines which attacked him. They were just divided into two batches.
Firstly, when the bright light shone, four would appear, two to hold him, one to punch him, and one to kick. The next batch consisted of two. When it became dark, the first four would be replaced by two long range shooters. If he defeated all six, he would be considered to have passed. But that meant he would need to go through the two batches. Time had passed, and he could only finish off one batch due to the time.
It was about time... The bright light shone, revealing the four automated opponents he would face. Their mechanical bodies whirred as they dashed to his direction, ready to pounce on him. Throughout the entire exchange, they had not even managed to land a hit on him once. If they were living things, Kyron was sure they would be feeling quite frustrated.
They approached him swiftly, as though impatient and determined to reach him this time. As their hands and leg were close to Kyron's body, nearing their hit, Kyron smiled.
"Finally, this boring exam is about to end." He said.
He successfully evaded their attacks, but instead of them returning back to the ground, their entire bodies broke apart, leaving their machinery parts flying all across the room.
"Too easy." Kyron sighed to himself.
The reason he had not landed a single hit for all this time and the reason he had said the exams wouldn't be as easy as he thought was simple. It was because he knew he could easily destroy them.
Darey's plan was for him to score a particular level, which meant he was not allowed to win just yet. This frustrated him a lot, since he thought he would only need to hold back moderately to get the desired goal.
But this exam was too easy. The machines were too slow, the mechanism of switching the lights on and off was just boorish. He could easily close his eyes entirely, if he didn't want to be influenced by the sudden switch. Besides, his eyes had gotten used to the sudden change during the first 30 minutes of the exam. The switch didn't even faze him anymore.
Why then would he wait till the last minute before destroying the enemies he was supposed to? Was it also part of Darey's plan? No.
Kyron had felt that if he destroyed the first batch too soon, he would also destroy the second batch as well, ruining everything. Since he was a hunter by nature, a Grandmaster of Cultivators, he found it difficult to stop once he had started something. This was why he waited until there was only time for one.
"I'm surprised I lasted this long" Kyron told himself.
The bright lights dimmed, returning to the normal balanced brightness. Kyron sighed. It was finally over.
"You pass...." The Supervisor said, almost not believing the sight before him.
Normally, the reason the time was stretched out like that was to give the participant time to defeat the machines one by one till there were some or none left. This was the first time he had seen a Sensory Ability User take out four humanoids at once.
The most shocking part was that the Supervisor himself couldn't follow Kyron's last movements with his eyes... He was too fast.
"Such speed..." He thought within himself.
But, even though Kyron's final moments were exceptional, the facts remained that he didn't defeat all the enemies within the allotted time.
"You passed the Intermediate Objective, defeating four of six enemies. You are hereby an Intermediate Stage student. Congratulations.
Kyron merely smiled.
"Further details will be given to you subsequently. You may now leave the Examination Chamber." The Examination Supervisor continued.
Kyron slowly walked to the entrance from whence he came from, which now served as the exit.
"He didn't even utter a word to me... Weird kid" The Supervisor said to himself.
"The way he so swiftly destroyed those machines, he could definitely destroy all of them within the allotted time, no... Even within one hour or less. But why didn't he?" He asked himself.
"Welp, no use thinking about that now. He's an Intermediate Stage now. I better check back in." He said to himself, packing the notes and things he had on his desk, leaving the monitor.
Kyron walked by the hallway, smiling to himself, and as he walked, he wondered what his master, Darey had scored.
"Even the Ultimate Objective would be a cakewalk for him." Kyron said, laughing to himself.
