Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening

Chapter 429 - Hell We Announce

Joshua took point as we stepped into the western tunnel, much to the annoyance and chagrin of the demons above us, many of them had wings keeping them airborne, and enough of them had the consciousness of mind to recognize the oath we had just taken and turn back around, flying into the air with wild screeches that did nothing more than annoy me. They probably wanted to find a way to intercept us on our way up, it didn't shake me one bit, if they all were so eager to die then without a doubt, I'd happily kill them all. Or in this case we a will.

The first thing I noticed about the tunnels that neither Joshua and Teluna failed to mention was the smell. The stench of rot and stale air filled the atmosphere as I fought not to gag, it was probably that much worse for Joshua seeing as he is a werewolf. His olfactory senses were five steps ahead of mine or any other vampire in existence. And while to a certain extent as vampires we could shut down our senses or use our auras to block the smell, a werewolf could not do the same. Joshua's senses were a big part of his abilities, and while I've seen him kick ȧss without them many times, we were in unfamiliar territory, being careful was a must. But luckily for us all he was the dragon king of wind, it didn't take long for a fresh draft to blow through the tunnels we took and carried the worst of the stench away as we began to pass the remains of demons that had filled the tunnels with such foul smell.

Then we came up to Gus's shield. There were demons in the other side actively fighting to get through, devourer infected members of the collective and other normal demons that just wanted to rip us to shreds. They were in our way, and it didn't matter to me how confident and dumb you could possibly be, that was a mistake of epic proportions. Joshua waved his hand nonchalantly, almost as if he was being dismissive. Power wind with cutting power was instantly generated from that cursory wave. It rushed last Gus's barrier and smashed into the demons, leaving being shredded meat and sliced into pieces bones in it's wake as it carried on moving through the tunnels and eliminating all resistance in our way.

"We should be clear of any confrontation, now we can run through… make sure to keep up." A hazy green and silver aura covered Joshua's body as he disappeared from sight, his figure vanishing around a bend at the end of the tunnel, a bowl left behind. We followed, auras rippling of our forms as we moved past the carnage Joshua had created with just a flick of his hand. With how fast we were moving, it didn't take long for us to escape the gloom of the tunnels to come up into what was probably the gloom of the circle of hell we now found ourselves in.

Black clouds of ash and smoke covered the sky, there was no sun or moon, and this place seemed stuck in perpetual twilight. And all of everything that we could see was a grey waste of rocks, mountains, hills, basins, ravines, fissures, and demons, so much demons. There was no ground in the normal sense of the word, just rock, it was as if we were in an endless mountain range with absolutely no sign of life. Ahead of us the spires of a castle fortress could be seen raising high into the air, as it's foundation seemed to lay on the bleached bones of an ancient behemoth; a monster so big it could swallow entire cities whole, and yet here was a fortress built on the bones of a long dead one, guess there was no end to weird and crazy shit in hell.

"Well let's go knock on their doors, Kodak would you do the honors."

Kodak bowed and then took off with a running start, we were a little bit under the rim of the Volcano with a small incline that led upwards to the mouth of it. Kodak crossed the distance in seconds, building up speed as he rushed towards the fortress in the distance his golden war hammer trailing behind him as it left streaks of gold and red aura behind. Be reached maximum speed and leapt into the air, raising his hammer along as he used all of the inertia and force his powerful vampire body could generate and smashed it into the side of the fortress's walls.

*Boom!*

A hole the size of a building was smashed into the side of the wall as the destruction carried on forwards, smashing through the fortress itself with prejudice, and ending the lives of hundreds of unsuspecting demons. Many of them took to the sky's, their screeches nerve wracking as they finally noticed our presence. Teluna pulled out a spear and then vanished into a cloud of bats that rushed into the sky, hungry for blood and conflict. Asare was weaker than all of us here, he had an extremely long life ahead of him by virtue of having my bloodline's crest. But he was still human, so all he could do was offer support from a distance as he pulled out a gun and started taking shots at demons trying to dive bomb both me and David.

"Well it's not a door, or a gate but I reckon that passes as a knock doesn't it your Majesty." I said to Joshua with small smile on my face.

"Well I believe it serves it's purpose quite well. The knock has already been administered, and so our presence has been announced.. Now I think we should just go introduce ourselves to our gracious hosts, it wouldn't do to keep him or her or them waiting, after all… we came here to hunt! And now it begins."
