Pharmacists made potions, but they, naturally, did not know how to make potions using dragon scales. So, I tried asking Obaa-san, who was a master pharmacist, but just like Ojii-san, she did not know. She too, naturally, should not know how to turn a part of her body into medicine. However, I still had an idea.

「Good morning~.」

「Who is it? …you are, if I remember correctly, a child from the orphanage.」

「Hello, it has been a while.」

The place I went to was the alchemist obaa-san’s shop in Frey Town. this was a shop where potions were sold and thinking that she might know something, I came here. Incidentally, I came by myself. My younger sister wanted to come with me, but when she found out that this was my destination, she got scared and gave up on tagging along.

「Why are you here today? Did you bring an ingredient or something today as well?」

「Um….」

「…wait just a minute, I will close the shop now.」

As I was considering how to bring up the topic of dragon scales, the obaa-san, perhaps she had noticed something, closed the shop so that no one would come in.

「So, what did you bring? Is it something that couldn’t be told to someone else?」

「Y, yes, it’s something that can’t be known to others.」

I said that and took out the dragon scale.

「I see, a dragon scale, huh. This is from the dragons from the other day. I see, you want to know how to use them.」

「Yes. it seems that an adventurer had picked it up in the forest, but I could not think of a way to use it. The children at the orphanage are trying to see if they could be used to make weapons and armor, but who knows how that will turn out….」

「I see, then, naturally, there is my portion as well, right?」

I took out the dragon scale that I planned on giving to the obaa-san. The country said that it was a Wind Dragon, but the ones who came to the town were the Wind Dragons, so the scale I gave her was the scale of a Wind Dragon. If it’s obaa-san, then she would not tell others about the scale, and I had to compensate her for teaching me how to use it for potions or other things.

The obaa-san put the scale into her pocket and taught me about it. 

「Let’s see, an item that uses dragon scales, they would be potions that have heightened effects or universal medicine. If there were other materials, then you could even make regeneration medicine, huh. If it’s weapons or armor, then it would be best to ask a dwarven blacksmith. They should be familiar with using dragon materials too.」

I see, they could be used to make enhanced medicine, huh. Rather, I got new information! So there were Dwarves in this world, huh. In things like games, they were a race that specialized in blacksmithing…. Then, there might also be something like Elves that often appear in them? But, it was difficult for me to ask.

「Are there Elves?」

「Elves? What? What are those?」

If it turned out to be something like this, it would be embarrassing. It would be fine to hear about it from merchants while chatting.

It seems that Dwarves always lived near the habitats of Fire Dragons and perhaps due to their nature, Fire Dragons often fought, so they could pick up their scales, claws, and fangs, and developed processing technologies using them. I didn’t think that all Dwarves had those technologies, but if the blacksmith group ran out of ideas on what to do, then we could try searching for Dwarves.

Arriving at the obaa-san’s workshop, there was a big pot placed there.

「This is an alchemy pot. It is useful when making magic potions.」

She said that when making it with the alchemy pot, the consumption of mana would be reduced while the quality would be slightly increased. If there was such a useful thing, then I wanted one, but it seems that it was a magic tool and was expensive.

「Well then, why don’t we try it at once. Watch carefully, alright?」

The obaa-san said that and made several items using the dragon scale for me to see. What she taught me was just how to make them, so I had to think about the things like the measurements by myself. Normally, I would not be able to do it since the materials would be wasted, but there were a lot of scales, so this might be the perfect time for pharmacist training.

After that, I was looking at the alchemy pot enviously, and the obaa-san said that she would make one for me, so when I requested her to do so, it was decided that I would not only give her the Wind Dragon scale, but the Wind Dragon scales, claws, and fangs, which she somehow found out about, as well. I did not know how much the alchemy pot was worth, but I think that from now on, it would be easy to have her teach me various things, so let’s just say that this was a necessary expenditure. 

「You can come anytime you need anything.」

When I left the shop, the obaa-san was in a very good mood.
