Leave The Monster Alone

Chapter 159 - Mysterious Circumstances Part 2

"Master Nathan, I'm so happy you responded to me. They duped me and took master Yun away while I was not looking. I apologise for my negligence but I also ask for your understanding and help" there was a slashing motion in the female's direction causing her to yelp in pain.

Her expression reminded Alan of a picked puppy who could not forget the kindness her owner had once shown her but was no longer willing to indulge. She looked starved for the other's recognition and Alan found himself getting sick just looking at her. She was so desperate that it was not even funny.

"I told you to do one thing and you failed even at that. At least you did complete your mission of retrieving the data so I can give you points for that" the female looked crestfallen at his words at first but soon cheered up at the second part.

Alan waited for the punchline to be delivered but it did not come. The other was standing in a relaxed pose but every fibre in Alan's body protected when he tried to take a step toward him. It screamed of 'danger' and 'retreat' so loudly that Alan was afraid of the incoming headache.

"I'm sorry for failing to meet your expeditions of me. I will go retrieve Yun right now" The female bowed to a 90 degree, her eyes looking down but Alan knew she was still dangerous should she want to be.

"No need. Since we have a hostage, we are both in an even position here. They might expect you to come back for Yun even so it will be risky to do so now. It's better if we go back for now and allow them to approach us with a trade" the male sounded so reassured that Alan found himself worried.

"My lord, are you sure about it? This guy is quite close to Fidi and Vodi, plus a divine beast as well. Can we take this risk?" the female sounded worried, rightly so because Alan was dangerous and he had proven it time and time again.

However, the guy just smiled his small and carefree smile, his hand coming to rest on top of the female's head gently before he gripped her hair and pulled at them in a tight grip.

Even from his position, Alan could tell that it was painful to experience and he felt bad for the female.

"Who gave you the right to question me? Di you really think those low-lives had the power to go against my decision? Do remember who I am" the male had a darkness in his eyes which made every instinct in Alan's body break out into a sweat.

He was not one to be messed with, he knew that much and this display of power and dominance just solidified it all the more to Alan. He took an involuntary step back which alerted the other two about his moments and turn toward him.

Alan instantly stiffened once that dangerous pair of eyes were aimed at his person and his mouth could not help but gulp down the saliva that was pooling inside of it. He realised with a jolt that this was what fear was supposed to taste like, the fear for one's life.

And instantly the smile was back on the male's face, his eyes losing their edge to curve into a gentle U but the darkness inside did not go away. The scene was straight out of a horror movie, one Alan had outgrown but never forgotten to fear.

And it was all coming down around him, crashing into his seal and forcing it open. He was afraid, so afraid that it was not even funny anymore. He was a prisoner of his body which was too afraid to make a move.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he's not foolish enough to go against his home. He's a divine beast as well so he will be alright."  the hard stare made Alan gulp but his courage was non-existing and he could do nothing but nod at the other.

The female looked constipated at the display as well, especially when the older guy extended he had to ruffle Alan's hair like a pet dog but she could not say anything. Alan knew she was afraid but this was a new level of terrifying, one he had not faced till now and suddenly it was all shifting in a new direction, one he did not like.

Alan's feet were moving on their own as he walked in between them, the guy at the front and the female at the back. He also realised another crucial face, he did not know them at all while they knew him plenty.

He needed to rectify that since he wanted to send a message to Mark. For that he needed information and he needed a lot of it.

"So, can I get an introduction? You know me but I don't know you at all" Alan made sure to keep his tone as light and innocent as possible to play the gullible child they thought he was.

"Do you want to know because you are curious or because you want to tell Mark and your brother about us? Sorry kid but I was not born yesterday and I took the effort of dumping your communication channel as useless" darn, the guy was sharp.

His smile hid too much, too dark to be on his cheerful face which only made it all the more awkward for Alan to be able to pretend it was all normal.

He was walking and then all of a sudden there was an ocean in front of them, the wide express of blue taking over miles and miles in front of him. It was dangerous here, Alan knew it was because of all the creatures that existed inside there.

But the guy did not look worried at all and he stepped into the ocean water.

There was a massive shadow beneath his feet and Alan felt his breath catch as one of them almost crushed the guy. As for the dangerous man? He did not even move as the huge limb crashed centimetres away from him and drenched him in water.

"Hello to you too old friend. Now, can we get a passage home? I'm tired and we need to get our new friend settled down" the huge limb retreated and a human raised up from the water, his features not human though.

He looked more fish at any rate which made Alan chuckle a little.

"Ah I see, a new comrade is he? You sure you don't have a fetish for young and lost lambs? First Yun and now him as well?" the person teased, his orange hair falling around him in waves and he had an amused look on his face as he talked with the other.

Too bad the other did not share the same humour as him and the smile wilted on that sunny face. Alan felt disappointed but glad as well. He did not need to get attached to the enemy after all, no matter how friendly they looked.

"Please, for the love of god stop teasing or I will not be responsible for what happens to you. Your mate would rebel if something happened to you. If you want to stay out of it all then do so without impacting us all" the smile on that sunny face came back at those words.

"Ah yes, my mate is the best. I miss them so much but you seem intent to separate is all the time now. Anyway, go up Nathan and stop wasting time. Master called for you some time ago" the water parted and rose.

Alan watched as it formed steps for them to step upon. It looked solid but the seed of doubt remained in Alan's mind. He waited for someone else to take the first step and the female took it.

Nathan waited till the female was far away before he pushed Alan onto the steps as well. Alan felt his breath being caught up once he stepped onto the water. He expected his feet to sink into the water, to fall off of the solid platform but it was solid.

His feet met the surface and kept him standing upright. The small push at his back was an indication for Alan to hurry up.

He eyed the safe land for the last time, thinking of his chance of being able to escape but once was cut off by the person stepping at his back.

Now the only way to go was ahead and Alan had no choice but to comply. The pressure behind his back was too massive to ignore, like a tiger eyeing its prey and he had to talk himself into walking.

There was a small hand at his back, pushing him to move and Alan felt his body comply with the obvious motion. Before he knew it, he was too far up to back track his steps.
