After exploring Blackthorn City and getting into a few battles, Liam was officially acknowledged within the city as he had defeated most of his opponents, which caused a massive crowd of spectators and a line of Pokémon trainers who wanted to battle Liam. 

Liam remained victorious as he was only using Latios to battle. Since Latios knew some Dragon moves, he was able to use that to defeat all of his opponents and leveled up quite a bit. 

When Latios reached his sixth opponent, he had become tired and wanted to stop battling, but Liam didn't mind his cries as he told him to continue. Latios was pretty angry after being told to keep fighting even after telling Liam that he was tired and decided not to attack anymore and started dodging attacks. 

Liam got a little angry that Latios was ignoring his orders. His eyes glowed red, which caused Latios to shiver as he looked at Liam and saw that his eyes were glowing red, Latios finally decided to obey his orders and just started to attack. 

In the seventh match, Latios had finally been defeated as he was out of energy and strength. The trainer that defeated Latios didn't feel too proud because he knew Latios was tired, so he asked Liam to bring out another Pokémon. Liam laughed at this because he knew that all his other Pokémon were quite strong, but he needed more training and to level up more since he heard that there were stronger old monsters in this world. 

Everybody there that was spectating was sad when they saw Latios defeated. Just when they were about to walk away, they saw three more Pokémon come out, which were Omastar, Kabutops, and Lucario. They all got excited as they formed a line once more, but this time Liam stepped back as he gave orders to the Pokémon to make the choices themselves and to think of this as training as they battled trainer after trainer. 

The trainers were all using Dragon-types, so it was quite easy for Omastar and Kabutops to get the edge on them using Ice moves. Still, Lucario was having a hard time since Dragon Pokémon's scales were quite hard and were able to defend quite well against Fighting types. The line got bigger and bigger for opponents as everybody around town kept hearing about a strong trainer that defeated everybody one by one. 

Liam had gotten so famous that even Clair came out to check him out. As soon as Clair came, the crowd made way for her. She was just as beautiful as Liam had thought as he had his eyes shining when he saw her. 

Claire had pale skin, blue eyes, and light blue hair, which was tied in a ponytail with a beige hairband. Two broad spiky fringes framed her face and pointed outward, and a third fringe rested in the center of her face between her eyes. She also had skinny eyebrows and visible eyelashes.

Claire held a great deal of pride in her appearance — much like Lance. Her competitive and harsh, the prideful attitude was often seen as both inspirational and intimidating by some.
