Love is a Sweet Poison

Amelia looks at Gabriel happily and while blushing lays her head on his lap and she pulls her legs on the seat and looks up at him. "Thank you."

"There is nothing to thank me for." Gabriel shook his head and smiled down at her, "I love spring. The flowers blooming means a plentiful harvest of herbs. I know that is a little backwards but I just love medicine that much. My Grandfather taught me everything that I know and he had a lot of faith in me. That is how I can make medicine in a matter of minutes without thinking about it. I am grateful towards him as now I have you and you need me as much as I need you." He looked down at her and smiled while whispering, "Sleep tight, my angel." 

The rest of the journey was uneventful, the children woke up on the way back and Mayumi looked at Amelia and Gabriel, "Uncle, is Auntie okay?" Big tears started to form at the corner of her eyes as she saw that Amelia was not awake.

"Yes, Amelia is just resting like you who had a nap. We wore her out with all the shopping." Gabriel smiled at Mayumi and then looked at Miyuki.

Miyuki pulled out a handkerchief and wiped Mayumi's eyes. "Now, now. Dry those tears. Everything will be okay. We will be home soon and you will see that Gabriel will wake her up." 

The carriage pulled up to the house and came to a stop Kosuke opened the door, "we have arrived." He helped the children out and held out his hand for Miyuki and they waited.

The children stretched before jumping up and down. While Miyuki took Kosuke's hand while blushing. "Thank you." 

Gabriel saw the interaction and his eyes lit up a little bit. 'I wonder if I should lend a hand to the two by setting them with some tasks together? Then again Miyuki is supposed to attend Amelia. Hmmmm...' Gabriel gently lifted Amelia as she slept and carried out of the carriage into the house. 

Amelia didn't wake up but she nuzzled her head into his shoulder and sighed softly in her sleep. 

Miyuki followed Gabriel inside and assisted in changing Amelia's sandals into slippers. She placed Gabriel's slippers down, then stood to the side knowing that Gabriel could manage changing his sandals on his own. "Would you like me to set Amelia's bedding or help bring in the items?" 

"Bring in the items. Amelia's bedding should still be out. You are the one attending to her after all." Gabriel switched his sandals and walked to the bedroom.

Sara was inside cleaning up and bowed when she saw Gabriel. "I was asked to tidy up the room but I left the bedding out in case the Young Missus was tried from going out. I will leave you two alone now." 

Sara stood up and her eyes shone with happiness and belonging. "Of course, I will get on that right away. Thank you for your kind words. I will make sure that she is not distraught over Amelia." She left the room and slid the door quietly shut. 

Gabriel looked down at Amelia and touched her cheek gently. "I am glad that I got to see so many of your expressions today. You shone like the sun and there is not a gem that can match your beauty in my eyes. You are brave and I will always protect you from those that cause you harm." 

Amelia opened her eyes and looked up at him. "You are my silent protector and I know that my life is safe with you. You are also brave. I was so relieved when you rescued me today. You must be as tired as I feel. Come and rest with me?" She held up the blanket that Gabriel laid on top of her body and waited to see if he would join her. 

Gabriel laid down next to her after removing his slippers. He pulled her close and felt her head rest on his shoulder. He kisses the top of her head and runs a hand gently through her hair. "Rest well my angel and I will be here when you wake up." He closes his eyes. 

Amelia snuggles on his chest and closes her eyes. She feels the pull of sleep and lets herself fall into its embrace and her body relaxes as sleep pulls her under. 

Gabriel smiles, before letting sleep take over his body as well. 

Two hours later Amelia wakes up from her nap. She lifts her head and looks around the room and then she looks at Gabriel's sleeping face and her face slowly heats up. 

Gabriel opens his eyes and sees Amelia staring down at him. "Are you embarrassed to wake up next to me?" He reached his hand out and moved a strand of hair from her face.

"Yes… I mean NO!" Amelia's voice rises an octave higher than normal. "It is just that I am not used to this yet. Sorry." Amelia sits up all the way before covering her face with her hands in complete embarrassment. 

Gabriel chuckles before looking up at her and smiles happily. We slept for a short while. How are you feeling?" His eyes scream that he is in love with her and that no one else would do. 

Amelia uncovers her face and looks down at him. Letting her embarrassment show on her face. "I am glad that you find this so amusing. I am a little hungry. Do you think that it is too late to have something to eat?"
