Love is a Sweet Poison

Taking his hand, Amelia let him help her up. "Thank you. I know that this is also something completely new for you." The crimson that was on her face deepened.

Gabriel leaned over and cupped her cheeks with his hands and kissed her gently. "It is new, but I know that our feelings are real, and there is no one that I want to be with than you. You are my light on a dark night. Only you make me feel complete. It just feels so right to have you in my arms. So as it is not traditional to sleep in the same bed as we are not married, I won't stop doing it as it feels right." He leans down and kisses the tip of her nose this time. 

Amelia giggles as he kisses the tip of her nose. "I understand. I am slowly getting used to it, and I really don't want you to go anywhere else." She feels his hands slide from her cheeks, and she leans her head on his chest and wraps her arms around his strong body. "You make me feel safe. I am glad that we met at the marriage meeting garden."

"As am I. There is no one that will be able to care for you like I will be able to. Come with me and let us see how late it is." Gabriel continues to hug her while not moving despite what he just said. 'I could stay like this happily.'

At that moment, Amelia's stomach made a grumbling sound. She released Gabriel and wrapped her arms around her stomach. "This is so embarrassing. I was comfy in your arms, and my stomach just made that awful sound." Her cheeks were as red as possible. 

Gabriel let out a laugh and then hugged her as she wrapped her arms around her stomach. "It is within human nature to be hungry after such a long time. This time I will take you to the kitchen and see what there is to eat." He pulled away finally and then slipped his slippers back on and opened the door. 

Miyuki was about to knock when the door opened. "EEEEEP…" She quickly covered her mouth. "I am sorry. I was not expecting you to open the door. I was merely checking to see if you two were awake yet and if you wanted to eat now?" She blushed and looked down. 

"Wonderful timing, and I take no offence to startling you. We would love something to eat now. Maybe something a little lighter for Amelia." Gabriel looked at Amelia to see if she agreed.

"The food sounds lovely." Amelia finally calming down, walked over to the door and smiled sweetly at the two. "As for the gifts, I am most pleased that they are hidden. I will have you help me wrap up the one gift, and that I will give it to Gabriel at the meeting." 

"Ah! I will do that for you. I will be back with your food in a moment. Please relax at the table. I will also let Madam know that you are awake. She wants to talk to you both before you guys go to bed." Miyuki bowed and left the doorway.

"A gift? Whatever could you have gotten me that I would not be able to guess." Gabriel left the door open since he knew that Miyuki was coming back with soup. He guides her to the table. 

Allowing Gabriel to lead her, she giggles. "That is the point of a surprise, is it not?" She sits on the cushion and leans against the wall. "I want to thank you for today. I had a lot of fun." She tries to change the subject.

"Changing the subject is crafty, but I am very excited to see just what you got for me. I know that some of it has to do with painting. Due to the fact that you were at my favourite store. That must have been expensive." Gabriel watches her facial expression.

"I saved some money, but it was not enough to pay for my schooling, but it was enough to pay for my medicine for a little bit, and if you did not learn to make it, then I would not be able to survive much longer. It is all because you choose to make my medicine that I can live. So you have my undying love and gratitude." Amelia never answers him on the gift but thanks him instead.

"Alright, since you do not want to tell me, I will not fight you on this, but I want you to know that I will find out what you got for me eventually as you got the gift for me. Then again... I got you a few gifts as well. I will send Miyuki to collect a new yukata for you to wear to the meeting. I know that you look amazing in the blue one that was here and that you fell in love with the purple one of the same design. I believe that Miyuki placed that in my room, so after breakfast, I will ask her to grab it for you." Gabriel sat down next to her and leaned over kissing her cheek.
