Love is a Sweet Poison

"I am lucky that you are like me and are extremely thoughtful." Gabriel sat down on his cushion and held out his right hand. Once he felt her hand in his, he gently squeezed while running his thumb over her knuckles.

Miyuki came back and saw that Amelia was blushing. She placed the treats in front of the two and went back to the door, grabbing the tea set. She sat down and looked at the two happily. "I hope that you can enjoy the meal."

"Thank you for this Miyuki. I would like for you to grab the purple set that Amelia picked out earlier today and bring it to the room in the morning. You are free to go and catch some sleep. The dishes can wait until the morning." Gabriel looked from Amelia to Miyuki then back to Amelia. 

"If that is what you want then I shall take my leave. Goodnight and may you both dream well." Miyuki got up and bowed to the both of them before closing the door and going to her room. 

"Itadakimasu." Amelia took a bite of the rice and a sip of the soup. "Mmmmm, this is quite nice. I sure hope that they did not stay up late just so that I could eat. I would feel just horrible about it." She looked at Gabriel before taking another bite of the rice. 

"You do not need to worry about that. All you need to worry about is eating and staying healthy. No one here wants you to be unwell. Kuma is used to my chaotic schedule and stays up late to make sure that I get food and tonight is no different but instead of one person he catered to two. I will have to do better to make sure that we eat on time. Itadakimasu." Gabriel starts eating. 

The meal goes by slowly but silently. With the two enjoying each other's company and slowly eating the meal. Gabriel finished first and looked at how much Amelia had eaten. 'It looks like she eats only a small amount of meals but I think that is okay. She is still sick and needs to recover at her own pace. The issue is can I wait for the recovery process?'

"What are you thinking about so deeply?" Amelia takes one last bite and places her chopsticks down. "Gochisousama." 

"I am worried that you are still only eating a little bit but I feel like this is a bit more than what you used to eat?" Gabriel used his chopsticks to pick up the left overs and started to eat them. "Sorry, I am still a bit hungry." 

Gabriel finishes off the her food and drinks the tea. "Gochisousama. Thank you, I will remember that for when we are not alone, but you can still give Miyuki your egg rolls. I know that she loves the thought that is behind it and I am not jealous… well maybe I lie, but only a little bit. We have a lot of time to get to know each other." 

Amelia thinks for a moment and gets up slowly, "Come with me to the garden." She walks to the door and changes into a pair of sandals. She stepped onto the grass and looked up at the moon and stars. 

Gabriel followed her out and wrapped his arms around her waist. "It is a beautiful night. I think that the moon will be full on our wedding night. Considering the date we choose." He kissed the top of her head as they both stared into the night sky. 

"It is not that far away, but a month away. The moon is full tonight… I think that it is lovely." Amelia turned and looked at Gabriel and hugged his chest. "I'm sorry I am not strong enough. I want to stay here with you. I-I am scared." Tears started to fall down her cheeks. "You are soo," her breathing hitches and she hiccups, "kind and gentle to me and this is the first time I have feared dying. Why did this have to happen to me?" her fists lightly pounded on his chest as she broke down and slid down to the ground.

"I know. I promise that I will do everything that I can to protect you." Gabriel picked her up as she bawled her eyes out and took her under the sakura tree. Making sure that she was comfortable and that he did not jostle her in the process on sitting, he adjusts her and holds her as she cries.

"I want to stay here with you? Will I really not have that much time, Gabriel?" Amelia tightens her hold on his yukata.

Gabriel kissed the top of her head. "If I have a say in the matter I will do everything that I can to keep you here with me and I promise you that you are my one and only." The cherry blossoms blow in the light breeze over the to of them creating a calming romantic mood. 

Amelia looks up and sees a spirit on the wind blowing the petals around them and she finally stops crying. "I-I'm sorry. I don't want to be emotional around you. It is not fair that you are seeing me bawl when we could be enjoying the night."

"There is nothing wrong with you getting upset over this. You are sick and there is nothing wrong with how you feel. If I was in your shoes I know that I would feel the same." Gabriel moves her to the root that was sticking out of the ground. "Stay here. I just want to grab a blanket so that as we sit out here neither of us catch a chill." He gets up and walks back to the room. 

Amelia sits there in watches as he moves away form her and she glances up at the spirit. "Thank you. You set the mood for us and I appreciate it."

The small spirit comes down and rubs its cheek on Amelia's before floating off into the night sky. Causing move petals to blow in the air.

Gabriel looks at Amelia and could see that her hand was waving good bye to nothing that he could see. "Another spirit that you can see but I cannot. Although I can see Inari now." He sat down and pulled her into his lap. he covered them with the blanket as he made sure she was safe and warm he started to sing a song that was just for her.

"In this world there is nothing that could tie me down,

The bleakness had me on the verge of quitting,

At the end Gabriel kissed the corners of her eyes to wiped the remaining tears away, then kisses her on the lips.
