Loved By The Villain And The Male Lead

"Ni tou tou mo mo zhan zai na bian gan ma?"

 "Ni tou tou mo mo zhan zai na bian gan ma?"

"I wasn't! I was waiting for you to finish your meeting," Su Ning disputed vigorously and the young man laughed. Su Ning pouted at Gu YuChen who was poking fun at her.

"Come here," Gu YuChen beckoned to Su Ning. He gestured over for her to sit on the bed since there were no other chairs in the room.

"What's the matter, NingNing?" He asked upon seeing the girl looking so distracted.

"YuChen-ge, why does your room look so…. so…. Bare?" Su Ning asked as she took a seat on his white king sized bed. 'Somehow it suits his facial paralysis face. The room gives a feeling of cold indifference.'

"Hmm? I prefer a simple style," he responded offhandedly as he swiveled in his white office chair.

"Ah? But how come the rest of the house looks so cozy?" Su Ning asked, confused. "The villa looks similar to the interior of your M Heights apartment, except for your room," she added her brows knitted.

Su Ning's question clearly startled Gu YuChen and he sat in his chair unspeaking an impassive look on his face. "Did you change your style?" Su Ning asked but the man remained silent. 'Do people normally keep a different style for their bedrooms?'

In fact, Gu YuChen had the house designed to Su Ning's preference. The girl loved a homey environment, she likes neutral colors and wood interior. He only left his room in minimalist style since it was the area he spent the most time in. The basic, simplistic style helps him focus on and be more efficient at his work. 

"YuChen-ge?" Su Ning prodded.

"I thought you were supposed to leave soon?" Gu YuChen responded evasively.

"Oh, yeah. But I wanted to say bye to you first. I didn't know if you'll still be busy when I get back from my trip," Su Ning grinned, appearing to have forgotten her original question, all to his relief.

"Mm, I'll have some time when you come back," he said.

"Really?" she asked disbelievingly.

"En," he answered.

"Truly?" Su Ning inquired again.

"En," Gu YuChen responded in affirmative.

"If you ignore me again. See what I'll do to you," Su Ning threatened with her eyes narrowed.

"What will NingNing do to me?" Gu YuChen asked in a deadpan voice, however there was a slight upward quirk in his lips.

"Dang ran yao da si ni ah!' Su Ning declared, putting her fist close to her face for added emphasis. Contrary to being intimidating, she merely looked like an adorable little squirrel with puffed up cheeks.

Gu YuChen had to bite his lower lip to stop himself from smiling. 'Su Ning is really lovely,' he thought to himself.

"Pfft alright. I'll make time for NingNing since I don't want to get beaten up," he said with a soft chuckle.

"Good!" Su Ning responded with a satisfied nod. A split second later, Su Ning made an 'aha' expression on her face.

"Oh! YuChen-ge, I almost forgot to ask. Why were you mad earlier?" she asked concernedly.

"Hmm?" (Gu YuChen)

"During breakfast, you seemed upset," she explained. "What happened?" 

Gu YuChen was slightly taken aback by Su Ning's comment. However he still decided to respond honestly.

"JinYan keeps touching you. I didn't like it," Gu YuChen said quietly.

"…" 'Huh? Just because Lin JinYan touched me? I thought it was something serious. He really had a chou lian back then. Could it be… Gu YuChen is feeling left out? He's getting jealous of Lin JinYan?' Su Ning wondered, giggling to herself.

Author's Note: Chou lian means sour face or scowling face.(✿◠‿◠)

"Pfft. YuChen-ge, are you sad because I didn't pay attention to you?" She asked in a joking manner.

Surprisingly, the young man nodded in response.

"Don't let Lin JinYan touch you too much," he said unrepentantly.

"Huh? Why, though? That's just how JinYan-ge normally is," she responded nonchalantly.

"He's only like that to you," Gu YuChen blurted out before he could stop himself. Though Gu YuChen didn't want Su Ning to become aware of Lin JinYan's feelings, he loathed the other man's blatant advances. Gu YuChen was jealous.

"Really? Wasn't his mysophobia getting better?" Su Ning asked, perplexed. 'I thought that's why he was able to make a lot of friends in school.'

"You can ask him," was Gu YuChen's reply.

'Gu YuChen is a bit difficult to understand. Did he really get mad just because he felt left out? Somehow he seems a bit childish. Well, it's good to know I'm not the only immature one in this relationship,' Su Ning snickered to herself. 

However, what Su Ning wasn't aware of was that there was a disconnect between their thoughts. Gu YuChen wasn't upset because they were excluding him from their conversation but that Lin JinYan was being so overly affectionate with Su Ning. Moreover, Su Ning was accepting such intimacy as if it was natural.

"Mm… Alright. I'll make sure not to leave you out of conversations from now on. I'll split up my attention evenly between you two alright," Su Ning said in a conciliatory manner. 'Silly Gu YuChen. Ah at the end of the day he is still a kid.'

Though this was not the actual cause of his discontent, Gu YuChen only smiled ruefully in response. "It's getting late, you should get going," Gu YuChen said to Su Ning after a few minutes. The longer Su Ning stayed in his room, the harder it was for Gu YuChen to control his overwhelming emotions. He felt as if it was eating him alive.

"Oh, alright," Su Ning said reluctantly. Again she felt as if Gu YuChen was pushing her away but she was unable to bring up her qualms for fear that the man would ask her 'why' once more. So instead she simply said, "Hug?" causing Gu YuChen to stare at her agog. 

"Hug," Su Ning repeated. Seeing that the man made no attempt to move, Su Ning stood up, tapped her foot a few times and tilted her head as if to ask 'hai zai deng shen me?'

And so, Gu YuChen slowly got up from this seat to give Su Ning a light hug. This small act placated the girl's uneasiness. She felt she could now go on her trip without any worries. 'It will be fine. Gu YuChen promised he wasn't avoiding me. He said it was only because of work,' Su Ning consoled herself.

"Bye YuChen-ge. I'll see you in a week. I'll miss you," Su Ning said sincerely to her friend. 

"I'll miss you too," Gu YuChen whispered back. 'More than you could ever know.'

After the girl left, Gu YuChen stayed in his room replaying the events that just happened in his mind.

"I'll have to be more careful. I hadn't anticipated NingNing to be so perceptive. She could actually tell that I was upset. If she had been just a bit less oblivious, she would realize my feelings were actually jealousy. I may have been caught,' Gu YuChen thought. Surprisingly, Su Ning was sensitive enough to notice that he had been distancing himself from her. Gu YuChen had purposely taken on extra work to keep himself busy. So, what he had told the girl this morning was not completely a lie. 'My explanation seemed to have appeased her. That's good.' Gu YuChen knew he needed to be less obvious going forward.

But still Gu YuChen had to admit that he was elated when the girl came to see him before she left. He always felt warm in his heart when Su Ning treated him specially. Additionally, he prided himself for controlling his emotions earlier. Truth be told, Gu YuChen had wanted to give Su Ning a long and tight embrace but he settled for a quick and friendly hug instead.

Unfortunately, Gu YuChen didn't have much time to bask in his small victory when he was reminded of his unanswered question from before. Su Ning seemed really troubled and unable to answer his question. He couldn't help but let out a sigh. Until now, she didn't consider him as a man. He began to ponder when, if ever, he would receive an answer from Su Ning. 'If I promise to be patient. If I promise to wait for you no matter how long it takes, can I hear your answer then?' He wondered, resting his eyes closed.
