'Speak of the devil.'

"Hi YuChen-ge!" Su Ning said cheerily as she walked out of her social sciences lecture, her last class of the day. "Ho! You still remember me ah? I thought you've forgotten this friend of yours already," she joked.

"NingNing… Got out of class?" the young man asked calmly, causing Su Ning to stop in her tracks.

"How did you… oh that darn memory of yours!" Su Ning said laughing to herself.

"Today's NingNing looks especially pretty," Gu YuChen commented. 

Su Ning, who was walking towards a nearby bench, wore a  lettuce trimmed white short sleeved ribbed top tucked into a tan buttoned tie front skirt which she paired with her trusty white sneakers.

"What are you going on about? I'm always pretty," Su Ning shamelessly blurted before she could stop herself. Gu YuChen chuckled in response. 

"Yes. NingNing is always pretty," he agreed. 'In fact, NingNing is too beautiful,' he thought to himself.

"The outfit you bought from the UK suits you very well," Gu YuChen commented.

"That's right!" Su Ning cried out happily as she sat down on an empty bench. She also thought she looked particularly cute today. It took a few minutes for Su Ning to realize something was off with what Gu YuChen had said. 'Wait! How would Gu YuChen know which outfit she was wearing? Surely, his 200 IQ and photographic memory wasn't that powerful. Don't tell me he has foresight too?!' she thought flabbergasted.

"Hold on! How did you….?" Su Ning asked, instinctively looking around. 

Her eyes met the inky black gaze of a tall handsome young man and Su Ning's face broke into a lovely smile.

"Yah! YuChen-ge! You didn't tell me you were coming!" Su Ning exclaimed, pleasantly surprised.

"I wanted to surprise NingNing," Gu YuChen, who stood 3 meters away, calmly said. Standing at an even 190 cm, Gu YuChen is remarkably taller than both the average asian and caucasian man. With his long legs, Gu YuChen quickly narrowed the distance between himself and the girl.

"When did you arrive ah!?" Su Ning cried out happily.

"I landed half an hour ago," the man answered with a soft smile.

"Huh?! You came here directly?!" The realization inexplicably made Su Ning even more delighted and her eyes bent into crescents. 

"Mhmm," was Gu YuChen's quiet response.

"Because you missed me?!" she prodded.

"Mhmm," he hummed in response. His answer caused the girl's wide smile to deepen further. 

"Good! You're here, finally," she announced enthusiastically as if she had been waiting for the man for a long time. 

"NingNing is done for the day?" Gu YuChen inquired, tilting his head downwards. He didn't put much meaning to Su Ning's cheerful response to his visit. He didn't want to get his hopes up. It was enough to see her smile in front of him.

"Yep! You are lucky! Ben Huanghou has free time to accompany you!" Su Ning declared confidently as she raised her hand in a flamboyant gesture. 

Author's Note: Ben is a pronoun used to refer to oneself. Huanghou means empress of china. In the olden days, people of higher stature would refer to themselves with 'ben' plus their title ex. ben gong zi (this noble son). So the little mc is jokingly referring to herself as "this empress of China.'  (◜௰◝)╯

"Oh? This lowly subject is very grateful," Gu YuChen said humbly, playing along with the girl.

"He he he. Let's go!" Su Ning chuckled, linking her arms with Gu YuChen. "How long are you staying here for? Which hotel are you staying at? Can we go on a few tours together?" she excitedly fired questions one after another.

"Pfft. About a week? I haven't booked one yet. And yes if NingNing wishes," Gu YuChen laughed, responding assiduously.

"Ah! Just a week!? That's so short, bah!" Su Ning complained.

"Wait, why don't you just stay with me?! I'm staying at my own apartment," Su Ning brightened up and faced Gu YuChen. This way it would be more efficient. They don't have to waste time commuting to meet up! Su Ning nearly patted herself on the back with her awesome idea. 

Gu YuChen stared at Su Ning un responding. 'Is she not aware that she has a one bedroom apartment?' he wondered. 

Gu YuChen had been so excited to see Su Ning after not seeing her for 2 and a half months that he had gone straight to Osaka University as soon as his plane touched down at Kansai International Airport. In fact, to clear up his schedule for the week, he had to consistently work 80 hour weeks for the past two months. Unexpectedly, his stepmother, Song Ran, had been making trouble at Gu Corp Ltd for the past half year causing Old Madam Gu unnecessary stress. Now that the matter had been resolved for the time being, Gu YuChen finally had time to visit his favorite girl who had apparently been having the time of her life in another country, as evidenced by all her photos. 'I wonder if NingNing ever thought of me at all these few months,' Gu YuChen thought to himself. 

"YuChen-ge, you don't want to?" Su Ning asked with knitted brows. 'What the?! This heartless boy. Did he even miss me at all?' 

"NingNing, it's not that," Gu YuChen said quietly.

"Then what? You prefer staying at a hotel? My apartment is not good enough for you? You qian ren zhen de bu yi yang," Su Ning said 

Author's Note: You qian ren zhen de bu yi yang means Real people are really different. ﾟ.+:｡(≧∇≦)ﾉﾟ.+:｡ 

"NingNing, you only have one room in your apartment," the man calmly reminded her.

"...." Su Ning was stumped for a few seconds. She had been so used to staying with either Lin JinYan or Gu YuChen that it didn't register with her that the man in front of her was already an adult. Moreover, he had been in an unrequited love for the past 5 years.

"Mm.. If you don't mind.. You can stay in the living room? It's only a week anyways. And I keep the place clean," Su Ning offered tentatively; however, she noticed that Gu YuChen still appeared hesitant. 'What is this? Is it because of his crush? He doesn't want to stay in the same place as me? It's not even like we're staying in the same room,' she thought petulantly.

'She better be as pretty as Dilireba. He's giving her so much consideration,' she thought miffed.

Not giving Gu YuChen a chance to decline, Su Ning grabbed the man's wrists and waved them back and forth.

"Come onnnn… it would be less troublesome this way! We won't waste too much time trying to meet up? Huh Huh Huh? What do you say?" Su Ning urged, acting cute.

Gu YuChen had a troubled look on his face. 'Is this really alright?' he wondered.

"It will be fine!!! YuChen-ge is my brother! Hmm?" the girl gave him an endearing smile.

"Al-- Alright," Gu YuChen finally decided.

"Yey! Okay, let's go home!" Su Ning gleefully announced. 'I promise I'll hand over Gu YuChen to you in the future,' Su Ning vowed. 'But for now, I want to be able to enjoy my time with my best friend. I'm sorry.'' 

The pair walked towards Hanshin Daigaku's parking lot and Su Ning stood waiting whilst Gu YuChen paid for parking. They were unaware that they were spotted by a group of acquaintances. But before the aforementioned group had a chance to call out to Su Ning, she had entered the front seat of Gu YuChen's white 20XX Mercedes Benz G Class SUV. 

"Eh? Where's your luggage?" Su Ning asked after she saw the empty back seat.

"Ah... I'll get some clothes after I drop off NingNing," answered the man evasively. To be honest, he had impulsively taken the next available flight to Osaka as soon as he resolved the issues that have been plaguing Gu Corp Ltd.  He didn't even inform Ouyang Jun of his plans until he had already boarded the plane. The latter was understandably upset at his CEO's impulsive actions.

"Gu YuChen!! You can't do this to me!" he futilely yelled to the receiver.

"Dammit YuChen! I'm your senior, not your secretary!" Ouyang Jun had managed to cry out before the line was cut off. A few seconds later, the hapless man received the following text from Gu YuChen.

[YuChen_Fox]: I will be completely out of pocket this week and won't be responding to any work questions. 

[YuChen_Fox]: Thanks.

Four hours have passed since then. All of Ouyang Jun's texts and calls to SunFox's president cum CEO have gone unanswered. So for the next week, the vice president of SunFox would be left alone to handle all of the business affairs associated with the successful launch of their new game, Star's World.
