Loved By The Villain And The Male Lead

Su Ning bade goodbye to her friends outside Tsujiri Gion before linking her arms with Gu YuChen. 

** half an hour ago **

Su Ning had been fully anticipating Gu YuChen to be on a long serious phone call. But she had found the man standing alone and staring blankly into space when she went searching for him. She immediately became concerned and tapped the man's shoulder to get his attention. And Gu YuChen turned to her with a glazed look in his eyes, causing Su Ning to be even more alarmed. 'What in the world happened?!?! This is so unlike Gu YuChen.'

"YuChen-ge are you alright?" Su Ning asked softly.

At the sound of Su Ning's anxious voice, Gu YuChen snapped out of his reverie. 'I need to get a hold of myself. I can't let her worry,' he thought to himself. "I'm alright," Gu YuChen said as calmly as he could. He felt itchy in his throat.

"Are you sure? You're not acting like yourself. It's really worrying," she said.

"I'm sure. It must be the change in the weather," the man answered evasively.

Su Ning gave her friend a look of disbelief. 'What change in weather? You've been in Japan almost a week okay?! Suddenly the weather hits you now? Come on! Ni ba wo dang shazi!? You are obviously not alright! Why wont you tell me?' Su Ning screamed internally.

Author's Note: Ni ba wo dang shazi!? Means You're taking me for a fool!?

Su Ning crossed her arms in front of chest and gave her friend a pointed look. "I don't believe you," she said bluntly. "What's wrong? Is it work?"

"Work is fine," Gu YuChen answered with a placid smile. 'I need to quickly divert NingNing's attention. Once she starts getting tunnel vision…. She wont stop until she gets an answer.'

"Then is it your family?" Su Ning asked with a small frown on her face. 

"Nothing is going on with my family," Gu YuChen easily replied.

"Really, NingNing. I'm alright," he added, trying to appease the girl. However, Su Ning was like a wild animal who caught prey; she simply would let go. She was quite for a few seconds before she looked up at Gu YuChen with a wary glance. 

"Then is it her?" Su Ning asked and saw a startled look cross Gu YuChen's face. 'Bingo,' she thought.

"It's her isn't it?" Su Ning insisted. She watched as Gu YuChen opened and closed his lips.

"Your expression changed," she commented. She was right. Only THAT girl was able to elicit such a reaction from Gu YuChen. 'That bad girl.' 

"What happened? What did your crush do this time?" Su Ning asked, sounding peeved.

"She didn't do anything. Let's go back. People are waiting," Gu YuChen answered, still refusing to discuss the topic.

Su Ning narrowed her eyes at the man. "YuChen-ge, you already know how stubborn I am. I'm not going back in until you tell me what's wrong."

Gu YuChen cursed at himself. He shouldn't have let Su Ning see him in this state. How could he explain the truth to her? There's no other way but to keep the ruse going.

"It's nothing. She didn't do anything. The issue is on my end. Really." he said, trying to appease Su Ning's curiosity.

"Then why do you look like this?" Su Ning demanded.

"Like what?" he asked, genuinely perplexed. 'Don't I always have a blank face? You said I had facial paralysis.'

"Like .. Like… Like you just got your heart broken," she said cautiously. Su Ning's brows were knitted and she had a concerned expression on her face.

"..." Her words gave Gu YuChen a start. 'Is that what I really look like? Because that's how I feel. Like my heart is in a million pieces.'

"Did she reject you? Is that it?" Su Ning asked astutely. 

"It's nothing like that," he abruptly retorted. 

"Then what?" Su Ning prodded.

"She's about to start seeing someone else," Gu YuChen finally confessed with a sad smile.

"..." At that moment, Su Ning felt extremely sad for Gu YuChen. The man had been in love with the same girl for over 6 years, he cared for her deeply. Yet the end result was still like this. The world is really unfair sometimes. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you still won't achieve your heart's desire. Sometimes effort is just not enough. 

"I'm sorry, YuChen-ge," said Su Ning as she enveloped the man in a warm hug. "Don't be sad," she said as she patted his back. 'I don't know why that girl can't see what a great man you are. If she doesn't want to stay with you then let her be. I'll stay with you instead,' Su Ning thought to herself. 

On the other hand, the man who was getting held didn't know whether to laugh or cry. It was a really laughable sight. Gu YuChen was getting comforted by the same girl who broke his heart but she will never know. 

** back to the present **

"Okay YuChen-ge! Let's go play and be merry!" Su Ning said to the man smilingly.

"What merrymaking are you proposing?" Gu YuChen asked quizzically.

"Ho Ho Ho! If you must know…. Japan has a lot of arcades!" Su Ning exclaimed, complete with hand gestures.

After a few moments of silence, Gu YuChen spoke, "How about we just go check-in to a hotel and call it a night?"

"Aiyah! Don't be like that! When your mood is low it's best to go out and play," she said, dragging the man through the busy Kyoto streets.

"My mood is alright now," Gu YuChen said calmly.

"Nope. Not buying it," said Su Ning. "You just have on a poker face, that's all."

Gu YuChen looked intently at the girl before letting out a soft sigh. "Are you sure it's not just you wanting to play?" he asked.

"[Gasp] Of course not! How could you say such a thing?!" Su Ning said, pretending to appear insulted. Truthfully, she did want to go and play but of course she wouldn't tell Gu YuChen that. She was supposed to be the one comforting him. Suddenly, Su Ning caught sight of a familiar red building and face brightened visibly. She pointed at the sign. "Look a Namco! Let's go!"

Gu YuChen gave a helpless sigh before following the girl into the game center.

The pair spent the next 2 hours playing shooting games, claw machines and drumming games at Namco. By the time they left it was nearly 10pm and they both were feeling more uplifted. They took a taxi to the Four Seasons Hotel where Gu YuChen booked the Presidential Suite. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that the hotel room cost way more than 6000 yen. Su Ning shook her head. Why even bother trying to spoil Gu YuChen? That is something that would never happen in this lifetime. Su Ning gave up.

As usual, Gu YuChen and Su Ning were treated as VIP guests and checked into their suite. Their 245 m2  two bedroom suite was located on the fourth floor and overlooked  the Myoho-in Temple. It was decked in local artisanal decor and sported large picture windows and high wooden ceilings. The Presidential Suite gave a feeling of a sort of calming albeit spectacular luxury. Su Ning couldn't wait to see the sunrise with Gu YuChen in the morning. 

Finally in her room, Su Ning took a shower and checked her messages to see if Minshi had replied at all. Minshi's text was short and direct to the point.

[Minshi]: I'm giving up on Gu YuChen.

Su Ning didn't know how to respond at all. Now that Gu YuChen's unrequited love is finally about to date another man, Minshi may actually have a chance if she kept at it. Yet, a part of Su Ning didn't want to relay this information. 'Besides, it's YuChen-ge's decision whether to give Minshi a chance or not. If he could see her in that way..as someone to date… then I wouldn't have to intervene right? Minshi also already said she would give up,' Su Ning rationalized her guilty feelings.

[NingNing_Star]: Alright. How are you feeling?

[Minshi]: Wo xin ru dao ge.

Author's Note: Wo xin ru dao ge means to be torn with grief to feel as if my heart is being cut out. 

[NingNing_Star]: I'm sorry. Is there anything I can do?

[Minshi]: Nothing. I feel really defeated. 

[NingNing_Star]: (´･ω･｀)

[Minshi]: I just need more time I think.

[Minshi]: Let's hangout when you come back.

[Minshi]: I need your help to forget about that man!

[Minshi]: (ง •̀ω•́)ง✧

[NingNing_Star]: Okay.

[NingNing_Star]: (●≧ω≦)9

Su Ning was about to exit out of her LINEE app when she saw a notification from Allen.

'That's odd. Allen usually texted in the group chat,' Su Ning thought as she pressed on the message. 'I wonder what this is about.'
