"Just like what both of you already know, this is a concealed dungeon. The rules of the exams are different here! After the two of you entered, there is a chance that one or both of you will die, better prepare yourselves!"

Hearing the imp's words, Calter clenched his fist. If it was just him, he has confidence in himself. As long as it is something that a Magic Warrior can do, Calter has a high chance of succeeding

However, he was currently not alone and he knew that he won't be able to let Kence die in front of him. "What do you mean?" Calter asked with a dark voice and the fairy imp chuckled

"Don't be angry at me, it was the Head Master that designed this!" The imp said while shaking her head. "Besides, this test is quite simple. You just need to clear the dungeon. But! Aside from the normal dungeons that only have dungeon monsters inside, the Head Master placed several tasks that the two of you need to accomplish to retain your lives"

"Now, for the first part. Defeat fifty Rank 0 flesh-eating crows!" After the imp announced it, she flew inside the forest, and with a snapped of her fingers, the crows' eyes turned redder than before

The sound of bird cries was so piercing that Kence became uncomfortable with it. The crows circled around the two before several of them descended down

Calter frowned and made a barrier around Kence to protect him. "[Dark Summon Magic: Skeleton Archers!]" With a wave of his hand, Calter summoned five skeleton archers that only have Rank 0 strength

Calter didn't stop with that and summoned ten more to help him. The archers shot their bone arrows and some of the birds were penetrated by it

Soon, blood and corpses fell in the ground due to the skeleton archers' non-stop assault

Calter also helped with the killing but he didn't move far away from Kence. The young master spread his magical powers to his sword and cut the crows approaching him in half

Sometimes, a person doesn't need to be too powerful to kill tens of enemies. They just need to have the right ability!

Calter's eyes were cold as he killed the crows coming to him. Several of them shot balls of acid at him and Calter was forced to make barriers. He can dodge them but as much as possible, he doesn't want any attack to land in the barrier he made for Kence

"[Ice Magic: Ice Shards!]" Tens of small ice pieces flew in the air and they pierced the bodies of the crows

"What are you doing? Just stay there!" Calter asked with a frown but Kence just looked at him stubbornly. "For the nth time, don't underestimate me! Hmph!"

"Why can't you just stay there and rest? You are injured!" Calter replied with annoyance but Kence is really too stubborn

Kence knew that he can't win in a 'verbal exchange' with Calter. He was always forced to shut his mouth by the man and that's why he just won't speak

Calter clicked his tongue before pouring more mana into his sword. At this time, he almost doesn't care anymore if the extent of his powers were known. The only thing he needs to do is to keep Kence safe!

Flashes of sword lights appeared one by one and after just a few minutes, all the crows were already killed due to how frenzied Calter's attacks were. Even the imp hiding around was shocked at that

Fortunately, Calter has his Cultivation Art, his physique might not be as superior as a Magic Swordsman but it was still much better than normal mages. He sweated a little but still have a lot of room for breathing

Kence wasn't the same as him though, almost all of his mana was already used up and a wave of fatigue spread to his body. Add that to his injury, if not for Calter, he might have already died

After killing all the crows, the two have stains of blood on their bodies and this made Calter dissatisfied. He doesn't want to have Kence be dirtied but the stubborn youth just won't stay still

A set of clothes appeared in Calter's hands and he placed it in front of Kence. "Here"

Out of reflex, Kence took the clothes and gave a reply he will give to Calter if he still has his real past memories. "Thank you, Big Brother"

Kence was about to take the clothes when his body stiffened. Those words came out of his mouth naturally as if he was familiar to Calter

Even Calter's own body stiffened. Why does Kence calling him Big Brother felt so familiar? It made his heart beats fast and he wants Kence to always call him Big Brother ... maybe even while moaning...

Kence realized what he had done and his whole being was consumed by embarrassment. Thus, he did the things he always did when it comes to Calter and that is ... being grumpy and a bit 'mean'

"N-no! Y-you just want to peep on me!" Kence accused. Calter originally doesn't have that kind of thought but now that Kence said it ... why not?

Calter wants to slap himself for how perverted his thoughts become. He wasn't like this before, he was even starting to think if he was really a pervert just like what Kence is always saying

However, Calter still has great pride. It's already 'kind' of him to let himself treat Kence like what his heart and body want even though his mind unwilling. Calter won't embarrass himself in front of Kence!

"Fine, I'm not even surprised at how ungrateful you are" Calter said and retracted his hand which immediately made Kence guilty

Too bad that Kence suddenly grew a mountain tall pride when it comes to Calter. Instead of apologizing, he just changed the subject. "B-by the way, w-what's your name?" Kence asked in a 'normal' and 'casual' way

"Calter, you?" the young master simply answered and asked for Kence's name.

Kence doesn't know why but that name sounds familiar to him and it took a few seconds before he was able to answer "K-Kence Russel, y-you can call me Russel" For Kence, it was already his way of 'making up for his mistakes' but Calter angered him again

"Alright, I'll call you Kence" Calter felt dislike at calling the youth, Russel. He prefers Kence that sounds familiar to him

Kence's heart also prefer Calter to call him Kence but from his 'memories', he preferred being called Russel

"I said, Russel!"

"Kence!"

"Russel!"

"Kence!"

"Russel!

The two felt that this 'catfight' of them was familiar and Calter tried something

"Russel!" Calter said and Kence replied with "Kence!"

The tricked youth's eyes widened in shock as he realizes what happened. "Y-you ... b-bad guy!" Kence said through gritted teeth before the voice of the fairy imp entered their ears again

"Damn it! Are you two always going to flirt? Hello, your lives are literally in danger here if you fail!" The imp flew in the space between the two

Calter's face returned back to its normal passive one before remembering what situation he was in. It's just that, he doesn't know why all problems in the world were forgotten by him because of Kence

"S-sorry" Kence apologizes to the fairy who can't resist his charms. Sometimes, being good looking is also one's advantage

"Just take these things and rest here for thirty minutes before you two go ahead and continue exploring the dungeon!"

Two blue fruits appeared out of nowhere and it landed on Kence and Calter's hands. "Eat that and rest!"

After doing what she needs to do, the fairy imp flew away from the two 'flirts' and she vanished from their sights. But in truth, she was actually just nearby. The two were just too weak to notice her presence

Calter immediately ate the fruit to see if it is poisonous. He doesn't want to eat it but he might not be able to stop the stubborn Kence from eating it. It would be better if he ate it first. If it is not poisonous then good, if it is, then Kence won't be poisoned

Even Calter cannot believe how considerate he becomes. This was too far from his normal attitude. If this isn't Kence, Calter might even force that person to eat the blue fruit

Calter can feel warm soothing energy as soon as he ate the fruit and his mana was being replenished at a rapid rate. He was surprised at this as the mana doesn't feel impure at all

In fact, Calter feels that the fruit was even beneficial to his cultivation

Seeing that Calter ate the fruit, Kence did the same and a similar thing happened to him. Kence almost has no mana left yet it was recovering at such a fast speed

After thirty minutes of rest, the two were forced by the fairy imp to continue. The place was really creepy and Kence 'sneakily' inched closer to Calter because of fear

The young master naturally know that and even wished that Kence will move closer to him

Suddenly, Calter sensed danger, and a barrier instantly formed in front of him. The enemy this time has a fast speed and as soon as Calter made his barrier, a hand with sharp nails slammed on it

Calter saw what it looks like a human but with completely black eyeballs. Its mouth was also wider than normal, rows of sharp teeth and a long hanging tongue can be seen on it

"A ghoul" Calter thought in his mind before shadow flames covered his hand. Ghouls are a bit tricky to defeat because of their fast speed

An enemy specializing in speed was the least kind of enemy that Calter wants to meet. He feared that an enemy that is too fast will appear and he won't be able to protect Kence

Calter placed his hand into the ghoul's head and the poor creature was instantly set on fire. The ghoul cried in pain and moved away from Calter before a sword penetrated its chest

It was hard to kill a ghoul because of their regeneration speed and one needs to destroy their brain or heart to kill them in a faster way

"Raise your guard!" Calter said to Kence when in fact he doesn't need to as Kence controlled two knives to gather around him

Kence's left arm was still injured and it was painful to move it too much. Mages mostly controlled things with the help of their hands to help them focus, it would be hard for Kence to control four knives again with just a single hand available for him

More figures appeared and about three ghouls all at Rank 1 appeared. Calter was only able to kill the first one easily because of his fast reaction speed, the others wouldn't be as easy

"[Dark Summon Magic: Skeleton Warriors!]" Calter summoned two skeleton warriors, one was to even the numbers between the two sides and another one to have the enemies be easier to kill

"[Dark Magic: Phantom Slash!]" Calter slashed his sword in the air and a dark sword light was fired at one of the ghouls

The ghoul issued an inhuman sound before its body glowed with a blood-red light. An armor made from what looks like hardened blood formed in the ghoul's hand and it uses it to destroy Calter's phantom slash

However, the ghoul's eyes widened as the sword slash vanished from its vision. Fortunately for it, Calter wasn't able to completely mask the magic fluctuations of his phantom slash yet

The ghoul cannot see the attack but he can sense it. The attack's disappearance only delayed the ghoul's reaction speed for a bit causing it to be pushed back when the sword slash finally arrived at it

Calter clicked his tongue before generating another sword slash
