Magic With You

After Calter left Kence in the tower, the youth cried for a while before he decided to do something. Kence thought that he might have did something wrong making his master to avoid him. However, he was afraid that what he 'did' might be something so horrible to the point that Calter will never be able to forgive him

But this time, he really wants things to turn back like how it was before. Kence started walking to exit the tower before he speed up his pace. He wants to caught up with Calter. He wants 'forgiveness' and was willing to do everything

As Kence's body is quite weak, before he even managed to exit the tower, he was already out of breath. But he didn't care about it at all and continued running

The cold winds outside hit his face and instead of making him uncomfortable, it actually ease the pain on his lungs although it was just a bit that Kence doesn't even realized it

Kence's face was riddled with desperation as he gasp for air while running. He really wants to caught up with his master, he's afraid that the courage he finally mustered will be gone if he wasn't able to talk with his master this time

Fortunately, there were still faint foot marks on the snow that Kence can see. Kence doesn't know why but although there are more than one trails but his gut feeling told him to follow a particular one

The more running he did, the more out of breath Kence become but he still forced himself to run. He misses his master a lot now and wants to talk and be with him

However, as much as he wants to continue running, Kence still reached his limit after a few minutes. Although he stopped running but he still continued walking weakly while following the foot prints

After some time, Kence felt some magic fluctuations and heard the sound of spells hitting something. Kence hid behind on of the big boulders of ice around. This might be the City Lord's property but Kence still remembered the assassination attempt that night clearly

He let down his guard too much. If only he immediately called Nan as soon as he saw the assassin, the outcome might be different. He might not get hurt and needed a priest to heal him for such an expensive price

Fortunately, the distance of the big boulder of ice wasn't that far from the fighting scene. Kence barely recognized the woman. It was Caizha, his Senior Sister. Although he wants to get close to the woman, he just doesn't know how. Especially since Caizha was always indifferent most of the time

Kence watched as Caizha shot spells after spell on the skeleton figures. One attack of her was a sure death sentence to the skeletons and they dissipated into black specks of light

Kence was about to charged at the scene and help his Senior Sister as he thought there was an enemy but the next scenes shocked him

Caizha stopped and hold onto her legs for support and another figure entered Kence's vision. It was the figure that he is very familiar. The figure of the person that matters to him the most, it was his master Calter

Kence was filled with confusion at why the two were fighting. But after watching for a while, Kence saw Caizha sitting on the ground followed by his master

This scene was really a surprise to Kence. Knowing his master, how can Calter possibly be this close to other people? Calter after all is unsociable and doesn't like interacting with other people

"Could it be..." a thought entered Kence's mind. At first he thought that it was unbelievable but his Senior Sister is very talented and beautiful!

Calter never showed interest in any woman before. But that might be because no woman grab his attention. But since it is Caizha we are talking about....

"My Senior Sister is beautiful and talented. My master is also a genius and handsome. I think they are a perfect match for each other but..... why does my chest hurts when I think of that?" Kence said to himself. At the last sentence, Kence's hand went to touch his chest and he looked at it

Before, he was pushing Calter to meet and fall in love with a woman. But now that there is finally a possible one that his master might marry in the future, it filled his heart with bitterness and pain

Although Kence is jumping into a conclusion, but anyone would think like that. Calter is simply too anti-social and didn't easily talk to other people

But now, not only he talked to Caizha, he even sat next to her. We can't blame Kence for having thoughts like that

Kence slapped both sides of his cheeks and the pain woke him up. "I can't be like this. How can I not be happy when my master possibly met the love of his life?" Kence said to himself while shaking his head repeatedly to remove the pain on his chest

When Kence turned back his vision on the two, he saw Caizha flicking his master's forehead but the man just stayed there sitting as if it was nothing

"T-that's....." Kence's eyes turned wide open along with his mouth. He cannot believe what happened. Talking is one thing but Calter actually let someone touch him without getting angry!

As far as Kence is concerned, even if his master is slowly having feelings with Caizha but this is still too fast! Talking is one thing, but touching is another!

Calter dislike talking to other people but he hates more people touching him... of course with the exception of Kence

That scene made Kence's head to be filled with messy and jumbled thoughts. After that, the youth reached yet another conclusion

Calter and Caizha might already be getting closer with each other for a longer period of time. Then Kence thought of another thing again

Calter always left him to the City Lord before while he 'trained' in the Thousand Beast Forest. But what if it was actually to meet Caizha?

Thinking of that, Kence almost never saw Caizha in the tower. He still doesn't realized that Caizha was 'working' in the Golden Spring Restaurant for a few hours everyday. And Caizha naturally also has her own room

Just like Kence and Calter, she's also not a social person and rarely left her room making it rare for Kence to see her in the tower

But the series of events and coincidence pushed Kence to jump into conclusion that the two were seeing each other for quite some time now

"But if that's the case why would master lie to me?" Kence thought sadly. And it seems like he has a talent for jumping into conclusions

Kence thought that it might be because he was getting on their way. He's always with Calter before but his master might want some alone time with Caizha. As Calter is 'good' and 'nice' he might not want to hurt his servant's feelings

"I-I'm so stupid...." Kence said with a teary eyes. He was already panting hard from the constant running but him tearing up like this just made his situation worst

The youth wasn't able to stop himself and his tears fell on the soft yet cold snow on his feet. This snowy environment might be good to look at but when someone is sad, it has the effects of enhancing that sadness

The youth pushed himself again and forced himself to run back to the tower. His emotions were in turmoil. He doesn't know why but this whole thing is making him feel so much pain

He thinks that at most, he should be sad and guilty for not realizing before that his master wants to be with Caizha. But Kence's innocence made it so that he wasn't understanding what he really is feeling

All he knows is that he is hurt....very hurt.... and he wants to escape that pain. He doesn't like it, he doesn't like pain. In fact, he repelled it

So just like his master and most people out there, he decided to escape the pain, to run away from it

No matter how painful the burning sensation on his chest and legs, Kence didn't stop running as if his whole life depended on it

Kence reentered the Magic Tower and wiped away his tears but his eyes were still red and puffy. He was just in time as he saw the City Lord just entered the Tower

Otto heard the sound of someone running and he turned his back to see Kence panting hard. The City Lord was taken aback and immediately went to his disciples side to support him

"Kence! What are you doing? What happened to you?" Otto asked worriedly. Kence's face was red from all the running and the current state of his eyes almost screamed "I cried"

It took a while for Kence to catch his breath and managed to answer the City Lord. "T-Teacher, I-I want to cultivate in seclusion" Kence said although he was still having a hard time breathing

Entering in seclusion for cultivation is not rare. Many mages will do so if they are close to having a break through. To make sure that no one will be able to disturb them, these mages will go into seclusion and only come out when they had a break through

However, Kence is still just a Magic Apprentice. With his talent, it wasn't hard for him to have any break through yet. What is the need for seclusion? That puzzled Otto

The City Lord was just about to open his mouth when Kence spoke again with a hoarse voice. "P-please"

He pleaded! Kence actually pleaded for it!

This hurt Otto's heart. This is the first time that his second disciple asked for something yet it was actually something like this. How can this not break his heart?

Without a choice, Otto took a bottle inside his spatial ring. From the transparent bottle, one can see several small pills inside

"Take it, these are nutrition pills. If you got hungry eat one but it is better if you eat real food" this time, Kence didn't stand on ceremony and accepted the pills and stored it on his own spatial ring

"A-also.... T-teacher.... please t-tell my master that I-I just want to focus on my c-cultivation"

If at this time, Otto still didn't realize that there is something wrong with the two then that's an insult to his intelligence! He wants to talk to Calter and help his disciple but for the City Lord it was better if the two youth's problems were resolved by themselves

As long as it didn't escalate to something much worst, Otto won't meddle much. Besides, knowing Calter, he won't possibly hurt Kence. There might only be some personal problems between the two but still not that severe for an 'external force' to help

"I understand, just don't forget to take care of your health okay?" Otto said with a tone full of concern. Just because he won't meddle in their affairs doesn't mean he's not worried for Kence!

In fact, he was feeling quite guilty to his second disciple. Most of the time, when one got a new disciple the first few months or even years, that disciple would be heavily pampered by their master. Always helping on their cultivation and giving gifts

However, Otto became too busy and wasn't able to pamper Kence. He will soon be done from all the paper works he needs to do but then Kence decided to enter a seclusion

There was really no time for pampering at all! This made Otto to feel guilty and quite bitter. But he's someone who always wants to let his disciple grow on their own and since it wasn't life threatening, he will just do what Kence wants

Otto supported Kence on the way and guided him on one of the rooms on his tower. It wasn't the normal room though, but one that's made for cultivation and training

A comfy mattress was laid out on the ground and there's also a bed on the side. On the other side of the room on the other hand, one can see humanoid figures that looks as if they were entirely made from ice

Those were target practice for testing spells.. The room also has other things that one will need for their cultivation. Truly a wonderful room for cultivation but with Kence's current state, would he even be able to cultivate?
