As Marquees Tem personally went to receive the guest, it naturally attracted a lot of attention from his clansmen. Hale Clan didn't act so arrogant like other Nobles because there is something that was ingrained on them since they are young

As a Clan focusing on business, they naturally have a more flexible mind and can adapt to many situations. The older generation always taught the younger ones to not be too arrogant

You might have the capability to bully someone today but that someone can rise into power in the future and cause trouble for you. Even if you kill that someone who knows if they have people that has close bonds with them? What if the comrades of the person you killed gained enough power to kill you?

Thus, most of the time, the Hale Clan won't easily offend other people even if that person is weaker than them today. Calter's case further made the Hale Clan to put importance on that mentality

A Baron Clan that only has a single Knight, it was a Clan that they can bully easily before. But now, the tables have turned. They are now the ones that should curry favor to the Sternix Clan especially to Calter

If before, they offended Calter and the Sternix Clan who knows if a day will come where they too would also become slaves. This mentality of theirs helped them to avoid a disaster

The other members of the Hale Clan followed behind Tem and watched with curiosity on their eyes. Those who are fast enough and saw Kel's actions have an even more exaggerated reactions

But we also can't blame them. For them a Marquees' Clan Patriarch is so high and mighty that there's only a very little chance for them to reach his level. However, that mighty figure is actually behaving like this, how can they not be shock?

"I-Is that S-Shan P-Patriarch?"

"H-How could that be him...."

"I-I heard a rumor from the Elders that the Shan Clan became slaves. At first I didn't believe it but now....."

All sorts of quiet discussion were made by the curious watchers around. They didn't talk that loudly but Kel still heard them and he looked at them angrily. He might act like a servant in front of Calter but not to these people that he can kill with a single attack

He's still a Knight and a prideful one at that!

Tem was in the middle of waving his hand to stop his clansmen as he naturally still has some respect from a person that previously has the same status as him. However, his hand froze in mid-air at the next scenes that unfolded in front of his Clan

Calter actually went in front of Kel and raised his knees. The youth's knees went straightly at Kel's stomach causing the latter to spit out some saliva that will land on Calter if he wasn't fast enough to dodge

Kel clutched his aching stomach with a pained expression. A Knight's physical body is of course superior than normal humans but it doesn't mean that they have a metal like body. A direct hit on stomach will naturally hurts like hell and for some time, Kel won't be able to move properly

The man slightly raised his head and saw Calter's dark face looking down at him. Kel gulped hard as he knew Calter is angry at him for how he behaved

"Bastard, have you forgotten why we are here? Do you want me to anger them because of your action?" Although Calter didn't raised his voice and didn't sound angry but the more calm his voice is, the more dread Kel will feel

Cold sweats formed all over the man's body and he doesn't have any choice but to quickly apologize both to Calter and the Hale Clan

This scene almost made the Hale Clan to pass out. Although it was unbelievably but they can still at least take seeing Kel acting so subserviently. However, to see him being abused like this filled the Hale Clan with myriads of complex emotions

There are fear, dread, surprise, disbelief, and some are even amaze at Calter for being able to do that to such a huge figure

Among the Hale Clan, there's a particular youth that is really amazed at Calter. The youth wasn't that older than Calter maybe only one or two years older

His face was amazed but his eyes were burning with a vast fighting intent. The youth was smiling while clenching his fist in excitement

If Caizha is the number 1 genius in the entire Soaring Magic City, then this youth is the number 1 genius among all Darkness Type Mage in the younger generation

Yes, his attribute is the same as Calter. The youth also has a strong desire to pursue the path of magic and make himself stronger. He likes fighting strong people and heard the rumors about Calter

A level 4 Magic Apprentice defeated and killed someone that has the power of peak Level 9 even neighboring the level of Magic Warrior will shock everyone!

There's a huge difference in power from Level 4 to 9 and Calter actually won on his fight, this is something that is unheard of before. Never did a monster like him appeared in the City until now and this filled the youth with fighting intent

He wants to experience it himself! Especially since Calter is also a Dark Type mage like him

As of now, the youth is almost 17 years old and he's a Level 8 Magic Apprentice. His level is higher than Caizha but he's months older than Caizha who only turned 16 for a few months

A normal human can reach peak Magic Apprentice in under a year but that's only for those whose comprehension doesn't match their level. To reach the peak with high enough comprehension will take a few years

As when one reached the mid or high level Magic Apprentice the difficulty will have a huge increase

"I apologized for my slave's action Marquees Tem" Calter said after turning his body to look at Tem

As Tem is still a businessman, although he was really startled but he immediately recovered and laugh a bit. "Hahaha, no offense taken! Don't bother about small things!"

If it was other Clans, Calter won't give them respect and will act aggressively to lower the price a lot. After all, he has the backing of the City Lord and Nobles will try to win his favor

But Hale Clan is different. Although this Clan only treated the Sternix Clan well after they gained the City Lord's support but a help is a help!

They helped Calter's Clan to have a new business. Although Calter wants to lower the price for his benefit but he wants to do it in a fair way. Despite how impossible it seems as Tem will surely give him a low price for it

"Calter thanks the Marquees for being so understanding" Calter replied much to Tem's joy. At least, Calter didn't behave like a hooligan or an arrogant young master to him

"Anyways, may I know the reason of your visit? If you need our Clan for something, don't hesitate. Our Clans are friends after all" a business man is a business man! Tem took the initiative and his words will gave Calter a better impression on him

You won't know when a good connection will come in handy. Before, the three Marquees Clan has equal standing as they have their own strengths

Hale is for business, Shan for the highest number of Knights, Khan for having higher level of magical knowledge. But after the two other Clans offended Calter, the Hale Clan became the number 1 Clan although it was just on the surface

Shan Clan became slaves but they didn't lose any Knight. As for Khan Clan, because of the City Lord putting pressure on them things became much harder for them. The amount of tax they need to pay rose, legal paperwork for their things either turned longer or much harder to process. And lastly, a lot of their Clan Members are arrested for corruption or crimes they committed

Of course, the Knights in the Khan Clan is in a better shape than the weak but even them was still forced to pay a high price if they are 'proven' to be guilty of a crime

While the Hale Clan's matters become smooth sailing thanks to the City Lord

Calter nodded his head and didn't beat around the bush as he still things he needs to do. "My slave told me that the Hale Clan owned a property in a rather secluded corner of the City. I was wondering if I can buy it"

Tem furrowed his brows. Although Calter didn't described much what property it is but the Hale Clan is also a Nobility. Most of their properties were in the high profile district. They only have one property that fits the description of being in a secluded corner of the City

But Tem is wondering why does Calter wants to buy it. If he wants to own a property then shouldn't he buy those luxurious ones in the bustling part of the City?

Even if he wants to buy land for crops and such, Calter should at least buy a fertile land not a barren one

"Hmm, yes, we have such property and my Clan doesn't have any use to it. I'll give it to you for free, as a gift. Just don't forget our Clan okay?"

Tem was actually saying the truth. His Clan didn't really use that land. It was too far to their main home and they can't even plant crops on it. It was left on its own for a long time as it was really too barren

The land is hard and even the mana in the surroundings were lower than normal places. A land that cannot be use for planting or fostering mages doesn't have any use for a Noble Clan

They want to sell it for a long time but there was no interested buyer

Hearing the Marquees' words, Calter gently shook his head. "I naturally won't forget the Hale Clan but I also cannot take your property for free. Please allow me to pay for it" Calter insisted

Calter already think of the Hale Clan as a Clan that he should protect as long as he has the power and it won't harm him or Kence. There is no need to be too indebted to them

But for Tem, he thought that Calter doesn't want to have a closer relationship to his Clan and wants to keep things casual. He naturally cannot allow this, he needs to give the property for free to Calter so that the youth will feel gratitude on him

Thus, the two was in a deadlock for a while before a youth step out. It was the same youth from before that has eyes burning with fighting intent

Because of his actions, all eyes turned on him including Tem and Calter's

"Patriarch, may I propose a way to settle this?" The youth said respectfully to Tem. He's only the son of Tem's brother but he is the number 1 genius of the Hale Clan

If he wants to, the position of the future Patriarch will be his to take even if he's not the Patriarch's son. But he's not interested in that, he only wants power and to experience fighting the strong!

"What is it, Denma?" Tem asked curiously to the youth and Denma turned to look at Calter while still having that burning fighting intent of his

"I heard that Young Master Calter had a bet with the Shan Clan before. How about we also settle this in a bet?"

Calter look at the youth in front of him with interest. He's naturally sensitive on things such as fighting intent and he felt it from Denma

"Oh? Do continue" Calter said with interest and Denma complied

"I am proposing a Magic Duel with you. If I win, my Clan will sell the property. But if you win, you will get the property for free"

Calter's interest to this youth deepened. He can sense that Denma was doing this not just for his Clan but also because he wants to fight with him!
