Mutant Farmer in The Apocalypse

Chapter 54 - Attack The Village!

"Okay, my little friends, we can do this! Let's go!"

After the war cry from the little mutated friends, Yang Zhang, who already made three lines on his cheeks with mud from the river and called it military disguise, charged towards the five zombies near the gate.

"Take this!" Yang Zhang aimed his gauntlet gun at the zombie about twenty feet apart from him and pulled the trigger twice.

BANG! BANG!

Yang Zhang easily killed the zombie with two bullets, a clean shot on her neck and skull, and the zombie dropped dead instantly.

"Grrr…" the other four zombies heard the gunshots and looked at Yang Zhang. They charged straight at him together, and Yang Zhang aimed his gun at them one by one.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

The sound of gunshots from the gauntlet gun rang loudly on the village's west side, and Yang Zhang had killed four zombies with few shots. He surprisingly had a good aim, but not perfect, because he missed a few times.

And those misses attracted many other zombies to come to the west side.

"Hrrrrrr…."

"Squeak!"

"You're right, Chestnut. I can't continue to stay on the west side like this. I need to enter the village, or it would be a never-ending attack from this side. We will have to take the Brain bead later. Our main target right now is to enter the village, kill zombies inside and find any supplies, at least a first aid box for us."

Yang Zhang opened his palm and aimed at the wooden gate, "Ivy, grab the gate, we're entering the village!"

Little Ivy, who closed her eyes, peeked from in-between her vines, and after making sure there was no zombie around, she stretched her vines and grabbed the village's wooden gate, "Viii!"

Yang Zhang was pulled to the gate, and Little Ivy quickly retreated when she saw another zombie near the gate.

Yang Zhang lost his footing for a second and quickly shot the zombie at random spots because the zombie was too close.

BANG! BANG!

Yang Zhang hit the stomach and the neck of this zombie, not enough to kill him. But the sound already alarmed other zombies.

Yang Zhang quickly ended the zombie by a shot in-between his temple.

He ran to the side and shot all the zombies that tried to block his way.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

"HRRRRR!!!" Many zombies started to get alerted, and Yang Zhang cursed, "Damn, this gauntlet gun is really loud. They are all alarmed."

"We can't fight in such close combat like this. We need the higher ground!" Yang Zhang said. He looked at a balcony of a bigger house in this village. The house had two floors, which was actually rare. Though, it was quite far, probably about six houses away.

'That big house must've something inside. Whether it's food or a first aid kit. I need to check it.'

Yang Zhang and thinking of a way to climb that. He knew that his only chance was using Little Ivy to swing around freely, but Ivy was hugging his arm tightly right now because she was terrified by the sound of zombies surrounding them left and right.

Yang Zhang gritted his teeth and aimed his gun at the window on the house in front of him. He shot the glass with four bullets to destroy it.

"Chestnut, Spicy Wing, cover me!"

"Squeak!"

"Chirp!"

Yang Zhang kicked the remaining glass shard, reached for the window handle, and opened it outside.

Meanwhile, Spicy Wing and Chestnut jumped from one zombie to another. Chestnut could zap and explode only a few of the zombies' heads before it started to run out of energy.

Unfortunately, Spicy Wing's body temperature wasn't hot enough to kill any of the zombies. Its kicks were only able to stagger them for a moment.

After a moment of struggle, Yang Zhang finally grabbed the window handle and opened it. He used his gauntlet gun to shoot a few zombies that were getting way too close to them and recalled his pets.

"Spicy Wing, Chestnut, return now!"

"Squeak!"

"Chirp!"

Chestnut and Spicy Wing jumped from one zombie's head to another to reach Yang Zhang again, and once they regrouped, Yang Zhang quickly entered the house and then closed the window again. He looked around in this small house. It was made out of concrete.

The house was already abandoned, but the door was locked. So, Yang Zhang's guess was the owner was outside when the zombie apocalypse started, and who knew what happened to them?

The zombies outside tried to reach Yang Zhang inside the house, but they couldn't get him. So only their heads and hands were stuck on the window and door

Yang Zhang looked around to find anything worth taking, but the only thing in this house was dust and house rat—

"Wait, rats?!" Yang Zhang looked at the pack of rats, probably around twenty rats looking at Yang Zhang. Their eyes were red, and they didn't seem scared of him.

"H—Hey, little friends, I don't think we have any grievance to one another, right? Just tell me that you're not mutated."

The rats were squeaking, but their squeaks sounded weird, unlike Chestnut.

The big one was looking at Yang Zhang and then squeaking loudly.

"Oh no, I think I'm going to have PTSD from that chicken attack before," Yang Zhang said. "Why do I keep bumping into weird stuff like this?"

And he was right. The rats dispersed and tried to attack Yang Zhang from all directions.

"ACK!" Yang Zhang tried to shoot with his gauntlet gun, but those rats were small and agile. It was hard to aim at them.

Yang Zhang felt something was biting his leg, he winced and flailed as hard as he could, and the rat was thrown to the wall. But it didn't die, and attacked again!

"Damn it, why am I always unlucky!" Yang Zhang cursed as he climbed the table. "Guys, help me! I can't fight these small things alone!"

"Squeak!"

"Chirp!"
