My Career is Useless in this World!!

Chapter 190 - War That Broke Out

Episode 183- War that broke out

Like I said before but there were reports of 'strange' incidents happening around the world and in  Xenperia. Everyone was excited and began activating their Occul one after the other with the blood from the Elder. The Elder's blood was distributed all around the world for everyone who wishes to activate their Occul.

And like in the past, people with big powers were unsatisfied. However, they weren't unsatisfied over the fact that commoners are gaining power but rather they hated the fact that they had to digest the blood of an unknown person. Hence, many choose not to gain power. This was also the case with the five Great Nobles. Not that they cared about digesting blood from common people but that they were more skeptical and wary of the people who appeared out of thin air.

Time passed by and eventually, the entire population, except people with power, were able to activate their Occul. It was funny then, but one day, the five Great Nobles were able to activate their Occul on their own. This was our parents as well as us siblings. It was shocking but at the same not that surprising considering our family history of being strong. And then naturally, other powerhouses from other countries in United West Liasel were able to activate their Occul without the help of the elder as well.

You know. This was the time things got sensitive between us. No one wanted me to do my duties as the Eldest daughter of the house hence, I began to have great interest in Occul after having activated my Occul. My Occul is the power of gravity. It wasn't that great, but it also wasn't that bad.

At first, I was able to make my body lighter, this helped with my sword training. After training a lot, I was able to shield myself by reversing the force of gravity. Eventually, after having spent more time, I began to get used to my power and was able to cut people up by using two forces of gravity at the same time. Gravity is an interesting concept which made me completely fall in love and engrossed that I eventually became the pupil of the elder.

So… I moved out of the Veria mansion and lived with the elder at Occul Island. I didn't have to do my duties anymore hence I decided to live my own life and back then it was the best years of my life. It was the first time experiencing such freedom and elevation. I no longer carried out the responsibility as the eldest daughter of the house of Veria. I did not have people looking at me with expectations and then with disappointment. I was just me. The normal Euria.

In Occul Island, I was taught many things and was able to advance the power of gravity thanks to the help from the elder. The elder was so incredibly good to me which was why I trusted the elder with all my heart and was good back to her.

But that was when everything began to crumble down. After five years, things went from high to low. People who had activated their Occul via ingesting the blood of the elder began having complications with their health and vitality. Everyone began aging very quickly as if their vitality were being drained and sucked. And it wasn't long until these people eventually died of 'old age' even though they were still young.

I was on Occul Island so I was not aware of the things happening in the world. But I later learned that war had broken out.  I found out that it was the world going against Occul Island which infuriated me. Through the elder, I learned what happened to the world and why they had persecuted them and cast them out to Occul Island. Hence, I thought that this was the case again. So I sneaked out of the island and went back to Xenperia for the first time in five years. This was in hopes to stop the war against Occul Island and the hatred they have towards the people here."

"..." As she was reading through this letter, there was a hint of familiarity with what she read. Of course, it was shocking that everyone in the world had Occul, though it eventually ended up working against them, however, she didn't find it to be that unfamiliar even though it should be the first she heard of these events… Well, in this life at least.

For some reason, Eugene did not have a good feeling about what she will read next.

"The first thing  I did when I went back to the house of Veria that was in a frenzied state, was to stop the war. To stop whatever they were doing. I didn't bother looking for reasons as to why everyone was in a frenzied state and when I later came to find out the reason why everyone was panicked back then, it was already too late.

Back then everyone convinced me to not go back and to leave teacher, but I did not listen. Older brother Louis dragged me to see the people who were dying, but all I said was that it was on them for not being strong enough. The disappointment in his eyes the moment I said those words are as clear as a picture even till today. Because everyone was against me, I began feeling oppressed, and once again I began to rebel. I refused everything and anything and selfishly believed in teacher.

I couldn't take it anymore so one day I tried to leave, only for you to find out. You begged and cried your heart out but I never once listened. You kept begging that eventually I became enraged and said one of the cruelest things to you in my entire life. And it was that I will always be on my teacher's side and that I will join the war even if it means killing everyone. But of course, I wouldn't, because I was confident that war would eventually stop. On what basis? Based on what the teacher told me.

"...." Eugene's heart felt stuffy as she read through this part. Her entire body felt uncomfortable.

"I thought I wouldn't join the war, but I eventually did. The promise was that my family and the great nobles be spared. I know that you might be surprised when you read this, but I truly did not care about people back then. I was a self-engrossed, stubborn person who only cared about herself. Unlike everyone in the family, I was engrossed that I was born a noble and engrossed over the fact that I was special. Responsibility? I didn't carry my aristocratic duties for anyone. I carried it for myself.

Don't get me wrong. I still don't care about anyone in this lifetime. The citizens, the people, these people have nothing to do with me. This doesn't have anything to do with me being born an aristocrat. I was born a shitty person, that was all.

After I participated in the war,  experiments on monsters like children were revealed and released into the world."

Eugene was quiet and only exhaled deeply after a few minutes. The letter was becoming heavier and heavier with every sentence she advanced.

"The children were experimented on by Kal Zene, the person who manipulated everyone in Zene and caused a disaster to the people of the white-eyed tribe. And they proved to be very strong and useful in war.

But that wasn't all the elder did. The elder released 20 powerful individuals. These were Kal Zene's children. Kal had many children, probably a 100. And out of all those children, only 20 people were selected. The basis of selection was that they must be able to activate Occul by themselves.

These 20 grew up to be monsters and had monster-like powers in war. They were powerful because they could manifest their own Occul, Kal manipulated them, as well as digesting the blood elder gave them. No soldiers or knights were able to stand up to them. It was even hard even for the Great Nobles to stand against them.

I am stupid hence when I realized what was truly happening, it was too late to cease my participation. The children Kal manipulated were already going against the Great Nobles. The elder went back on his promise, and eventually, the oldest of the 20 rats killed brother Ramon.

This was when I snapped out of my self engrossment."

Eugene's hands shook as she read the letter, '... Ramon?' Her stomach felt as if it was being dugout. The moment the death of Ramon was mentioned, it was as if she couldn't breathe yet again.

"Those rats lured brother Ramon and killed him cruelly. But it wasn't enough for them because they tossed him to the forest for animals to eat. When Father and Mother found his dead body, his body had already been badly decomposed and left in an inhumane state.. Mother and Father went crazy from brother Ramon's death, especially mother who couldn't bear the sight she saw.
