My Destined Werewolf Mate

Chapter 100 - Smell

"Tap! Tap! Tap!"

Even though he was marching very slowly and carefully towards Eva, she could sense the slow tapering sound of footsteps behind her. Her heart pounded hard in fear and with a heavy jolt, she immediately turned back to face the approaching noise.

As she flipped her neck, with the sudden jolt the hematite pendant flickered out of her shirt, causing an unusual sparkle on the black hematite stone, under the giant golden yellow chandelier she was standing beneath. Getting caught in the act by her while approaching, Beck immediately halted his pace and his sharp gaze shifted on the divine black gemstone which was glittering under the yellow radiance, guarding her as the protective barrier! Abruptly he took a step back as he had almost a few steps apart from her, clenching the knife harder on his grip hiding it behind.

"Mr. Beck!? Wh-What are you doing here behind me?" Frowning her eyebrows intensely, Eva inquired him bluntly, scanning him from head to toe.

"Ahh, m-me? I...I just wanted to take a peek of...h-how you were preparing the coffee...hehe..." Stuttering quite clumsily, he took a few steps back away from her trying hard to cover his act.

"But..." She trailed off glaring at him sharply without averting her gaze. "Just to peek at the coffee? Then...why was he approaching me so slowly?" She thought.

Beck quite evidently realized that she was being skeptical of his intentions and the atmosphere around them was growing more awkward. Quietly putting the knife behind at the rack carefully hiding it from her, he tried to portray his calm and compose his usual self to revive back her trust again.

"Miss Eva...did I somehow offend you by approaching like that? If I did...then I am sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I...just had pure intentions..." Making a guilty frown expression, he was trying his best to convince her again.

Watching him looking all distressed at her response, she fidgeted anxiously and lowered her gaze down from his face. "Well, Mr. Beck... It's just that...so many traumatic events have been happening around me...I can't help myself rather than staying over-conscious of my surroundings... I...heard your footsteps and for a couple of few seconds, I was indeed scared of you..."

"I...I am extremely sorry, Miss Eva...But I didn't have the idea that you might misunderstand my intentions--"

"Please don't do this ever again, Mr. Beck. I don't like it if anyone approaches me in such a creepy-crawly gesture...I hope I can make it clear to you." In a deep coarse voice, she asserted her opinion quite vividly, looking straight in his eyes for a few seconds. Watching her looking all stern and frigid, he carefully nodded his head obeying her command.

Taking a deep huff of breath, Eva pointed her index finger on the table where she was preparing the cappuccino for him. "I have already prepared your coffee, and you can add sugar to it preferable to your taste. So...I will take my leave now, Mr. Beck." Muttering in a heavy pitch, she slowly unwrapped the apron around her waist and hung it on the wall of the room. Picking up her handbag, she bowed her head a bit before leaving the place at an instant.

"Umm, yes...see you tomorrow, Miss Eva... By the way, your necklace is quite pretty! I noticed it right now...it was sparkling in light..." Gazing at the pendant, he conveyed his compliment in a mystic voice holding a small smile.

"Oh, tha-thank you..." Eva glanced back at her pendant once which was flickered out from the inside of her shirt and softly caressing the gemstone, she raised her chin to look at him, "it is gifted by my boyfriend. I treasure this present more than everything..."

"Your bo-boyfriend?"

"Yes, Mr. Beck. I already have someone whom I love and cherish more than my life... Probably meeting him was the only good thing that ever happened to me... And, he is the only person who makes me feel safe and protected." Proudly standing tall and glancing back at him, she was flexing out her love for Zeus caressing the pendant tenderly.

"Ohh... I see... that's good for you, Miss Eva..." Hearing her bold response, from his gestures he seemed a bit agitated while he was trying hard to project a fake difficult smile. She noticed his dubious gesticulations and that made the situation more anxious.

"Mr. Beck, well, I..." Suddenly, her speech halted and she frowned her grimace holding a displeased expression. It was quite absurd that she could suddenly perceive a pungent smell from nearby from where she was standing! The scent was too strong and disgustful that she sniffed her nose a few times before inquiring him back, "wh-where is this disgusting smell coming from? It's terrible!!"

"Smell?"

"Mr. Beck, can't you sense a weird smell here all of a sudden? It smells like sewage! Ughh, it's too awful!" Covering her nostrils with a cotton handkerchief, she blurted out her displeasure in a bold voice.

Quite evidently, his facial eloquence suddenly transformed into a darker offended one and the smile on his face completely vanished. Putting both of his hands inside the suit pocket, he muttered in a low deep voice, "Miss Eva, I think you should leave now. It's getting quite late."

Looking at his intense dark gaze somehow throbbed her heart once in fear. His face seemed extremely vexed and without wasting a single second further, she quickly started to walk past him.

But as soon as she crossed him across, her eyeballs swirled in shock and for a few seconds, her feet halted as she stole a glance at him from her side face. Before he could notice her pause, she tried to walk out of the cafeteria as soon as possible, intending to reach the main street taking giant bold steps.

As she walked out leaving the place in a rush, after covering a few meters distance, she paused walking and gasped out a heavy breath of air.

"Is...Is it my mistake or...I...I could sense the smell coming out from him? Bu...But...why would it happen? How could such a horrible scent come out from him? How is this possible? No... probably...it was coming from sewage nearby... But...then...why did he seem so infuriated? His...His face looked unbelievably cold and vicious and...it was terrifying to look at... I don't know what to do...am...am I overthinking or... something really strange is going on there?" Several internal conflicts were going on her mind as she clenched her fist hard, gazing up at the radiant starry sky with a tinge of helplessness in her blank stare...

"Mom...Dad...Felix... Am...Am I in some kind of danger again? What I should do...I...really do need money but ...I don't know what's happening with me... Life seems... so hard at this stage..." She murmured anxiously on her own, with her eyes glistening in tears.

.....

As Eva rushed out of the cafe, Beck was standing all frigid and numb holding a devilish expression on his face, clenching his right fist.

Immediately he took a few steps ahead, picked up the coffee cup from the table, and threw it viciously on the ground splashing the coffee all around on the floor and the glass shattering into countless pieces in a fit of rage! He was fuming in wrath and raised his jowls to glance at the door from where she left just now.

"You...bitch!! Darn it! I...I can't attack her while the pendant is still with her... I should have chopped her throat off within today if that hematite didn't stop me!" He was venting out his infuriated grudge while throwing a voracious punch on the table. A huge crack appeared on the surface and a few more glass items cracked open unable to withstand his rage.

"That bastard alpha is protecting her with all his might... Boyfriend my ass! How dare she run her mouth before me? How dare she commanded me today? That fucking hoe...

I...gotta find some way to rip apart her annoying mouth! I have to finish her off before that bastard alpha interferes with my work..."

All of a sudden the white scleral part of his eyes transformed into entire black, large monstrous ones as he glared sharply at the door. Large, chisel-shaped claws grew out from his nails along with ferocious long white canines emerging out of his mouth. His dark black vicious eyes sparkled under the radiant light as he raised his gaze towards the Cresent moon illuminating bright on the sky.

"You just wait for a few days...Miss Eva... Once I get the perfect opportunity...no one will be able to save you from my wrath...

No one! So...Start counting your remaining days..." He smirked with the malicious devil grimace...
