My Destined Werewolf Mate

Chapter 43 - Different Perspectives

"Here, have some warm milk. It will help you to relieve your stress."

Clara handed Eva a cup of moderately skimmed warm milk, taking a seat next to her on the couch, inside her apartment. After taking a shower, changing her clothes into a night suit, Eva was sitting all numb and frozen as if her soul had been already transported to a different world. She didn't even stretch out her arm to hold the cup from her. Her eyes were fixed at the neverending dark night sky, holding a gaze of unknown emptiness.

"Eva?" She called her out again, but this time in a much louder voice.

"Ye-Yes." She flinched back with her sudden loud noise and shifted her gaze from outside towards her. Her grimace resembled extremely pale.

"I brought some warm milk for you. Drink it up."

Nodding her head in a reluctant manner, she gripped the cup from her hand. Exhaling out a heavy sigh, she took a sip of the warm skimmed milk. Her eyes were still shrouded with anonymous darkness as if she was deeply immersed in something from inside.

"Eva, if you are feeling a bit better now, can we talk?" She inquired in a deep voice, scrunching her eyebrows.

Eva was sitting still, lowering her face downwards, and sighed out again. "What do you want to know, Clara?"

"About every damn thing!" Her tone sounded a little irked as well repulsive. "I bet...something terrible must be going around with you... From your pale face, it's clearly evident too. So, you better don't hide anything from me. I am here to hear about all the shits you are going through."

For a while, she stayed quiet and slowly raised her chin up, to look at her deep intense eyes. "Clara... can...can I ask you something?"

"Yes, of course! Since when do you need permission for it?"

"What you have done...if you ever come across a...mythical creature...who....is...not a human?" In a stuttering voice, she inquired her back.

"What?" Clara looked absolutely stunned by her question, gazing at her in awe. "What kind of question is that? And what about the mythical creature?"

"Just answer me first, Clara... What have you done if you ever come to know about such existence?" She was persistent.

"Of course I will seek for help! Or I might inform the police immediately! Who would want to keep such a major revelation a secret from the world? First of all, I don't believe if any kind of mythical being exists or not...but if they do exist...shouldn't we grab a hold of this golden chance?" Her eyes abruptly transformed from an intense expression into a glimmering spark as if she was overexcited with the thought.

"Golden chance?" Eva frowned her face, being inquisitive about her overstimulated reaction.

"Of course!" She grabbed her arm tenderly and smirked at her. "The news channels, social media...the whole world will just go gaga with such a startling revelation! Once we disclose such a rarest phenomenon, we will be insanely popular like any high mighty celebrities! Don't you think so?" She blabbered out consistently.

"What the fuck?" Eva was spellbound for a few minutes with her completely drastic way of thinking that was the exact opposite from her. "Damn... I absolutely can't tell her anything about the incidents that happened today...or else, she might go and announce it around the whole world about Zeus...about his real identity... It will put him even in more grave danger arousing new issues..." Nervously, while wondering she started tapping her feet, scratching the couch seat.

"Eva? Hey, where are you lost again?" She tapped her forearm, trying to regain her back to reality as she seemed lost in her thoughts.

"Ah, well, it's nothing..."

"But why did you ask me such an absurd question? Hey, wait. Do you really know about any mythical creature?" She sounded immensely inquisitive, flapping her forearms eagerly.

"No...ho-how would I know about such a thing?" Gulping anxiously, she tried to lie before her. "It's just...just... all my inner curiosity. Nothing much, I am...all okay."

"Then why are you stuttering, Eva? Are you lying to me? And...what about those blood stains on your clothing?" From her stern voice, she seemed a bit dubious about her intentions.

"It's because... I witnessed an...accident..."

"Accident?"

Eva lowered her dark, mystified eyes fidgeting anxiously, and breathed out in a huff before speaking. "I just happened to witness an accident and...the person...was severely injured... covered in blood and bruises... But...I was so damn useless...I couldn't do anything for him..." Her voice started to crook and her toes started to shiver in anxiety. Her eyes filled with tears of apprehension as she was reprimanded about Zeus.

"Ah...that's sad." Clara lowered her face too and thought of something for a while. "Well, is the person alive or dead--"

"No! He must survive! He...have to survive!" All of a sudden, she shrieked aloud as if the thought of Zeus being dead shivered her from the core. With such a bold defying from her, she looked a bit surprised.

"Wh-Why are you getting hyped up all of a sudden, Eva? Is the person is someone closer to you?" She asked her, lowering her voice deep.

"No... He was just...some passerby..." Holding a heavy heart, she had to lie to her.

Clara kept gawking at her intensely for a few minutes and wondered in her mind, fixing her gaze at her gesticulations. "Perhaps, the accident reprimanded her of Felix whom she lost just a few days ago... or maybe, she was reminded of the time she wanted to take away her own life." Adhering to her thoughts, she softly caressed her arms to console her.

"Eva, whatever is troubling you from inside, just you know that you are not alone. I am and I will be forever by your side...no matter which path you chose. That's my promise."

Hearing her kind assurance, tears rolled down her cheeks as she bit her lips to stop herself from breaking down completely.

"How... How do I let you know Clara...I have...I have fallen for someone who protected me from a monster risking his own life...How can I let you know, the person I have feelings for...

Is not a human!" She wondered, fidgeting in distress.
