My Little Secret

Chapter 33:Responsibilities

"Sofia Malitz, I did hear about your ideas during the launch of Catherine Russo's book." Andrew said,

he was smiling.

Smiling? Wasn't I going to be fired?

"Ye..Yes Andrew" I manage to tell and smile back.

"We host a competition every year, "The writer's block", we give in the trickiest themes and expect the employees who are participating to stay within that. We don't usually let new comers participate but you seem to have a unique take on writing. I would be judging it and I'd like to see your work." He says.

"Wow" I manage to say and smile. "It would be an honor, Andrew."

"Also, about your story. Maybe you could give it to one of our editors, it seems like an interesting concept and it's very nice to have our employees publish their own work. Adds a reputation to the company." He says.

"I'd love to do that. I'm still working on it though; it might take some time." I tell him

"Of course! All good stories take time" he smiles.

"About Victor, I also happen to be on the Social Action team. You could always raise a formal complaint; this is a serious issue. But he would be fired and it would bring a bad reputation to the company. However, we will be with you, no indifference shall be shown."

"I'd like it if he stayed away from me. I cannot work under him anymore." I say and Andrew nods.

Our meeting ended and go out to find Hilda waiting for me. Everyone was looking at me in shock, whispering. I hated being looked at. Victor and Aaron weren't in their cubicles. Hilda grabs my hand and takes me out.

"Your life is going to be hell right now." He warns and comes closer to me.

"Really? In front of a witness now?" I look at him and fold my hands. "I'm not your pet anymore

Victor."

"You never were, you can't be tamed Sof."

"Sofia for you. But I'd rather you didn't call my name at all. It makes me hate my own name." I say.

"Ouch." Says Hilda and smiles and takes my hand. We walk away.

I did not fear him anymore. Things were finally looking better and I felt amazing about myself. I did not want anything more.

"So, your own work huh. Excited, Sof? I am already super proud of you." Hilda exclaims. She was such a good friend.

"I have a couple of ideas. The good thing is that I get to work on my story for a while. I hope something good comes out of this." I tell her.

Most importantly, I had just realized that my visions were true. It was on me, how I would use this elevated psychic power I had. I was also very excited to be seeing Ivan in the evening. I had begun to like his company more than I could admit.

He came to pick me up after work and I rushed and got into his car.

"You should have seen the look on Victor's face" I laughed. I had told him about the entire incident and he listened intently as he drove. He pulled over and I looked ahead.

"McDonald's! It's my favourite" I exclaimed. I was almost going to hug him, but I held myself back.

I wondered what Ivan's past was like. I was beginning to trust him, but what if he hurt me? So far, he hadn't done anything for me to doubt him. Wouldn't it be wrong? To snoop into his life unwillingly? I was considering telling him about what I was capable of, my recent discovery.

"Shall we?" he says as he opens the door for me.

I look at him.

"I want to get to know you, Ivan." I tell him and look at him. He seemed surprised and smiled.

There was a song playing in the radio," I'm all out of love, I'm so lost without you." I look at him and smile. I get out of the car and follow him, lost in thought. What was I doing.
