My Navy Seal II: Undeniable Attraction

NICK

Kim sitting next to me looking more happy than ever before. She is smiling from ear to ear and that is exactly how I want her to feel always. She does not even wait for me to open my eyes completely when she asks me if I want to get married here.

My eyes immediately jump open because I do not understand why she is asking me that again. I told her that this wedding can go the way that she wants to and if she is happy to keep it here then I am also. I take her hand and then I say.

"Doc, I am sure that I told you that I want you to be happy with whatever you decide with our wedding and that includes wherever you want to keep it. So, if you want to keep it here it is fine with me"

KIM

I do not understand how lucky I got it. I have a man that gives me what I want and does not even think twice. I want to jump up with joy and tell him how happy I am but before I do that I need to ask him another question.

"Are you sure you still want to keep it here with the entire Angie thing?"

"I do not know about you but I'm not going to let Angie spoil our wedding. If you want to keep it here and that is your dream then that it will be"

I think I am falling even more in love with this man and I love how he just put my needs in front of his. I hug him as softly as I can and then I pull away from him probably looking like a little girl.

"I just have one more thing to say"

"I am all ears"

"You are going to have to contact John"

"John?"

I start to laugh because I realized that he might be thinking that I am talking about John my ex.

"Okay, wait let me just rephrase that. I think you better give your best man John a call and find out if he and his wife are coming to the wedding? You also said you wanted to tell him that you are leaving the Navy Seals?"

NICK

Suddenly everything comes back. I remember now that I am not working with the Navy Seals anymore. I guess it was something that I kind of pushed to the back of my mind. I did not really want to think about it and maybe I'm just afraid to tell my team that I'm not coming back.

They deserve that much from me. I quickly avoid Kim's eye contact. I do not want her to see the hurt in my eyes because when I decided to quit the Navy Seals, I meant it but I do not want her to feel like it is her fault somehow.

I know exactly what I did when I quit and I am not going back on that decision. I need to start living my life and be by the side of this beautiful woman.

"Okay, I will give him a call"

KIM

I know exactly what Nick is thinking. He probably wanted to avoid telling John about leaving the Navy Seals but I guess we all have to face our demons and God knows, I have faced many of mine already.

"I know this is going to be hard for you but I also know that you will feel much better once you did it. Maybe not immediately but soon enough"

NICK

I put my hand on her arm and I look deep into her eyes because she just knows what to say to me.

"You make me feel happy again. You know what I need. How can I ever say thank you to you?"

"I do not want you to say thank you to me. I just want you to love me forever"

"I am so sure that I can organize that for you"

I pull her in for a kiss because I just can not resist her. Then she hands me my phone and stands up to walk away.

"You can give him a call and I should call Nita to find out if she would be my maid of honor"

I can not help but smile as I enjoy the way that she is taking charge. Then as she is about to leave the room she turns around and says.

"I am happy"

She smiles and I smile back at her then she closes the door behind her. That is all I needed to hear. All I ever wanted is for her to be happy and now she is. I can die a happy man but unfortunately, I am not going to get that luxury as I have to call John.

I take a deep breath and then I dial the number while holding the phone to my ear.

"Master Chief, how good is it to hear from you. How have you been?"

"If I say that I have been laying in bed then tired time would you believe me?"

"Only if you will believe me when I say I have been lying in bed then the entire time? My wife will not let me get up for anything. I am a prisoner to my bed"

"I know exactly what you mean, accepted it is my fiance"

We can not help but laugh at our wordplay and then I clear my throat.

"I was wondering if you would do me the honor of being my best man"

I hear silence and I start to panic that he's going to say no. Then finally he says.

"It would be such a great honor, sir"

"That is great news. With that, I would like to invite you to join us for the pre-wedding celebrations. Would you be able to come with your wife for a few days?"

"Are you sure, sir?"

"I would love to have you here, yes."

"Then consider it done just text me the time and the address and we will be there"

"You are a good man, John. Now, recover quickly so you can make it to our wedding"

"I would say the same thing to you, sir"

We laugh and say our goodbyes. I feel delighted that John is going to be here for my wedding as I am considering him as my best friend. I close my eyes again as these pain medicines really take it out of me.

KIM

As I leave the room, my heart feels more happy than ever before. Finally, I do not have to worry about Angie and everything she might do and I can have my dream wedding. I truly am marrying my Prince Charming. Then I make my way to the living room where my parents are still waiting for an answer. I can not help but grin as I walk into the living room. It is my mother that first speaks up.

"Well?! What did he say?"

"It is a go!"

My mother hugs me and I hug her. We know now that we are going to have lots of fun. Then she pulls me away with her eyes wide.

"Who is going to be your maid of honor?"

"I got that one covered. I was just about to call her"

"Well, then run along because we need to get her measurements for the dress"

I can see the happiness in her eyes and I feel that very same happiness. Then I walk out of the house and dial the number.

"Kim? Is that you?"

"The one and only. How are you, Nita?"

"Happy to be home and you?"

"Me too. Actually, that is partly why I'm calling. Would you be my maid of honor?"

"What?! Did I just hear that you ask me to be your maid of honor?"

"Yes, unless there's another Nita around?"

"Are you kidding me? Of course, I will be your maid of honor. It will be an honor! Get it?"

We start to laugh uncontrollably and I'm so happy that she would be my maid of honor. I remember how much we talked when we were deployed and how close we grew. We talk about final times and dates and I do not even know how long I was talking to her. Finally, we say goodbye and I make my way back into the living room.

"We are all set. She will text me her measurements and we can start looking for bridesmaid's dresses. I think we will only have her as a maid of honor and bridesmaid"

"Oh, honey it is going to be wonderful. Come let's go and make preparations"

"Okay, mom. Get out the magazines and the wine. I am just checking up on Nick"

I make my way back to our room and I softly open the door. I do not want to disturb him if he still talking to John but then I see him laying there with his eyes closed. I realized that he must be in a lot of pain after today and the excitement of today.

I never thought that today would turn out the way it did but I am glad that it ended this way. I quickly close the door behind me again and leave him to sleep.. He needs to be recovered by the time that we are getting married and he does not have a lot of days left.
