36. Chapter 36: Sam’s Mayday

When he woke up again, it was already around 7:30 p.m.. He was lying on the bed alone, accompanied by his Tiyue Tang Sword only. Xia Mingyu rubbed his butt, which was shaken by No. 3 in pain before, so he felt so depressed that he felt like eating horsemeat.

The door was opened with a clatter. It was Wu Jiuge, who was still wearing a female dress. It seemed that he didn’t intend to change back, making Xia Mingyu believe that he was a transvestist.

The surrounding environment had changed. Seemingly, he was not in that shop, but he didn’t know where he was. Wu Jiuge gave him a glass of milk and said, “Here you are.”

Xia Mingyu fetched the milk. The glass was still warm, filled with rich-flavored milk. He took a sip of the milk, which tasted quite good. It was at least better than the taste was good, at least better than the buttered tea.

After drinking a glass of warm milk, he felt that his stomach was warm and comfortable now. Xia Mingyu squinted his eyes and said to Wu Jiuge in a soft voice, “Thank you.”

“Young Master, you are welcome. Have a good rest. I’m in the room next to yours. If you need anything, just come to me.” Wu Jiuge took away the empty glass and left.

The lamp was also turned off by Wu Jiuge. Xia Mingyu rubbed some sleepy eyes and held the Tiyue Tang Sword into his arms. With the sword, he felt at ease. The sword was as cold as Zhao Yun’s body.

Xia Mingyu wanted to call Zhao Yun, but his cell phone had been taken away by Cao Pi before. Afterwards, he didn’t have time to handle it. Now that he was brought here, how could he get in touch with Zhao Yun?

Somehow he missed Zhao Yun very much. He wanted to stay with Zhao Yun. Even if he could only stand aside and watch him, he didn’t feel like leaving Zhao Yun.

He had a feeling that he was not very normal…

Xia Mingyu couldn’t sleep anymore. He scratched his soft hair fretfully several times, and as a result, a cluster of hair stood up. Pitifully, he didn’t see it and then ran out barefoot with his Tiyue Tang Sword.

He acted quietly. He only wanted to hang out and get some fresh air to ease his mood, without disturbing Wu Jiuge. Xia Mingyu left on tiptoe. The minute he closed the door, he suddenly felt restless and hedged. However, without thinking much, he only held the Tiyue Tang Sword more tightly.

The night sky was full of stars, bright and beautiful. Xia Mingyu took a deep breath and looked around only to find that the night scene of Korla City was very beautiful. The flashing neon signs and night markets appeared so attractive to Xia Mingyu.

Just walked across a street and then ran into a teenager of the Uyghur nationlity, who was much taller than Xia Mingyu. Xia Mingyu politely lowered his head and apologized, “I’m sorry.”

Then he wanted to keep walking when the teenager stopped him. “Wait a minute, man. You are not a local, are you? Do you have company?”

The teenager’s mandarin was still a bit weird, but Xia Mingyu could understand him anyway. If he spoke Uyghur, Xia Mingyu couldn’t understand then.

“Yeah.” Xia Mingyu nodded and felt that he was a bit impolite, asking, “Is there any problem?”

The teenager scratched the back of his head and seemed to be considering wording. After a while, he said, “It’s not safe for you to wander alone. After all, you’re a Han person.”

Xia Mingyu looked confused. Never did he know that as a Han person, he would be dangerous in Xinjiang, so he asked, “Why?” In fact, when he was with Wu Jiuge before, the passers-by in the street also looked at him strangely. Some of the looks were normal but some… Anyway, the passers-by stared at him resentfully, as if their territory was intruded. He thought that it was his illusion.

The teenager was about to answer but as if he had seen something, he suddenly grabbed Xia Mingyu’s hand and hid in the alley. Xia Mingyu wanted to speak but his mouth was covered by the teenager. The teenager slid into the darkness and pulled Xia Mingyu over. They were hiding in the darkness together back-to-back.

“Shush, don’t speak. They’re chasing people.” The teenager seemed to know what Xia Mingyu was thinking about so he answered the question first. Instantly, the footsteps came from outside. Then Xia Mingyu heard people talking gibberish, but with a little guess, he estimated that they were discussing about chasing people which was mentioned by the teenager.

After a long while, Xia Mingyu felt soreness in his muscles. When those people left, both of them felt relieved with a sign. Xia Mingyu asked, “Who are they chasing just now? It can’t be me, right?”

“No, they’re after Sam.” Because he leaned against the wall, the teenager patted the dust off his clothes. Xia Mingyu frowned. “Sam? Do you mean the waiter Sam in Xinhe Restaurant?”

The teenager didn’t expect Xia Mingyu to know Sam. He nodded in surprise, “Yeah, so you know him. I heard they have collected the evidence to suggest that Sam uses evil tricks to harm people. Now they are hunting Sam. Someone says that he has something to do with the Han people. Currently, the foreign Han people in Korla City have been arrested.”

Xia Mingyu twitched his mouth. What the heck? What wrong did the Han people do? He regretted going out for some fresh air. Could he go back now?

“Then… Then why did you save me?” Xia Mingyu looked at the teenager with his amber pupils beaming with confusion. The teenager was stunned and said, “I don’t think there’s any problem about the Han people because I studied in a big city and some of my schoolmates are the Han people. They didn’t bully me. Instead, they treated me very well, so I…”

“Help! Help!” The young man’s words were suddenly overwhelmed by the sound of asking help. They looked over and then found that Sam ran from the garbage can in a panic. Upon seeing Xia Mingyu, Sam got excited. “Thank God! I finally found you. Please. Please take me to Wu Jiuge. Only she can save me.”

Sam came over and grabbed Xia Mingyu’s arm, shivering. His panicked appearance was pitiful. He recommended the dishes in the restaurant to Xia Mingyu with a bright smile but in the evening, he became like this.

Xia Mingyu thought of what happened in the daytime and then immediately went to look at Sam’s back. Instantly, he got stunned. The ghost child was still there, staring at him grimly and grimacing with sharp fangs. Struck dumb, Xia Mingyu took a few steps backwards, stepping on the feet of the young man several times.

“Ah, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to step on you.” Xia Mingyu apologized in a trembling voice. The teenager realized that something was wrong with him and then looked around. Yet, he found nothing dangerous and then asked in confusion, “What’s wrong with you?”

Xia Mingyu put his hand on his waist and intended to slay it as long as the ghost child rushed over, whether he could make it or not.

“You shouldn’t listen to others. That person lied to you.” Xia Mingyu suppressed his fear and said to Sam, which made Sam’s gloomy pupils glister. He shook his hand with excitement. “Great. You know about this. Please tell me what I should do. I can’t get rid of it. Even if I throw that thing away, it will come back to me. It’s driving me crazy!”

“Shush, keep your voice down. They haven’t gone far yet.” The teenager warned Sam. The latter immediately covered his mouth and looked at them in a loss. Xia Mingyu knew that she had taken them as a lifesaver.

“I’ll take you back, but I’m not sure if Wu Jiuge wants to save you…” Xia Mingyu said. Sam looked at him gratefully, “No, no, thank you for your help. I’ll keep your favor in mind.”

Sam didn’t talk about returning the favor. Xia Mingyu supposed that she thought she was dead meat, and then only heaved a sigh. The Uighur teenager waved at them, “Come over here. They’re going to the other way. Let’s run quickly.”

Xia Mingyu nodded and grabbed Sam’s hand on his backhand. The girl’s hand was not very smooth and yet very soft. Xia Mingyu slightly blushed, which couldn’t been seen at night.

“It’s not far away. Only a street away. Well, do you know the way? I remember there is a big billboard around. It’s…”

“Ah, I know. Come with me. We’ll take a shortcut.” The teenager said this and instantly turned into a dark street. Xia Mingyu stopped, hesitating whether to go inside. On the contrary, Sam followed forward and noticed that he was standing there, saying hastily, “What’s wrong with you? Let’s go.”

Xia Mingyu pressed the Tiyue Tang Sword. Actually, he sensed the Qi of ghosts in the dark street. He stared at the Qiye Bead on his wrist and planned to pull apart the string and throw the bead away. However, he realized that he couldn’t. Cao Pi was such an awful person!

Whatever. They must meet Wu Jiuge first. Xia Mingyu gritted his teeth, unsheathed the Tiyue Tang Sword and waved at a ghost next to him. The blade didn’t go through the ghost. Instead, it split the ghost in half. As the sword gleamed, the ghost instantly faded away.

Xia Mingyu was dumbfounded. Was it so awesome?

“God, what are you doing? Why are you waving at the air?” The teenager who walked in front looked at him in surprise, “Are you testing whether the sword is sharp or not? Do you want to fight with those people? No, you can’t do it alone.”

Of course he knew he couldn’t do it. Xia Mingyu rolled his eyes resignedly and then cut off the ghost next to the teenager. “There are ghosts. This sword can be used to kill ghosts.”

Xia Mingyu said so. The teenager looked around in astonishment, but he obviously couldn’t see anything, so he was half skeptical. On the contrary, Sam got quite excited. “Ah, you can kill ghosts? That’s great. Please help me kill it. It’s been following me. I really don’t know what to do.”

Xia Mingyu didn’t know that his Tiyue Tang Sword could be used to kill ghosts, but now when he took a look at the ghost child, he thought for a while and said, “I’ll give it a shot, but I can’t guarantee that I can do it.”

After saying that, Xia Mingyu gripped the Tiyue Tang Sword with his hands and then slashed at the ghost child. As the ghost child screamed, its momentum rose tremendously, which halted the Tiyue Tang Sword at once and kept it away.

The teenager was obviously stunned too. He didn’t understand why Xia Mingyu slashed at Sam’s back with a sword and then paused. “What… What are you doing?”
