37. Chapter 37: The Backlash of the Ghost Boy

While talking to the teenager, Sam didn’t speak Mandarin anymore. Xia Mingyu didn’t understand what they were talking about and could only guessed that Sam was explaining to the young man. However, without thinking further, he could only try his best to attack the ghost boy.

The ghost boy showed its teeth and suddenly jumped up. In order to prevent Sam from being attacked, Xia Mingyu quickly withdrew the Tiyue Tang Sword. Instantly, the ghost boy landed on the ground and quickly crawled to Xia Mingyu.

Xia Mingyu put the Tiyue Tang Sword horizontally in front of his chest to block the attack. The ghost boy reached out its claws, rubbing against the sword. It was hard for Xia Mingyu to withstand, but he didn’t retreat. His physical strength had become much stronger under Cao Pi’s “training”, so this blow was not difficult to deal with.

“Run away first. Wu Jiuge is in the place I just told you. Don’t walk into the dark street, where there are too many ghosts. It’s more dangerous.” As Xia Mingyu said, he turned the Tiyue Tang Sword over. The ghost boy staggered and almost bumped into the blade. “I’ll deal with this ghost boy. You guys leave now!” Xia Mingyu shouted and rushed to the ghost boy. The teenager was stunned for a moment and then frowned after seeing Sam’s ghastly pale face. Then he just dragged Sam away and ran. They took the advice of Xia Mingyu and didn’t run into the dark street again.

The ghost boy wanted to go after Sam. However, Xia Mingyu gritted his teeth and slashed at it. The ghost boy dodged the attack and yet, got angry. It decided to give up the host, and instead, stared at Xia Mingyu resentfully.

Xia Mingyu took a deep breath and pointed at the ghost boy with the Tiyue Tang Sword. In fact, he knew that the ghost children were transformed by the souls of the babies killed during the pregnancy. He was sorry for them too but he still felt that Sam didn’t deserve to die, so he chose to save Same. Besides, this ghost boy hadn’t killed anyone, which only took in Sam’s Qi, so he should be able to deal with it.

“Wooo…” Cries of ghosts came from the dark street behind his back. Xia Mingyu suddenly stopped. Oh shoot, he just forgot that this was the entrance to the dark street. If he stepped into the dark street, the ghosts would surely spring at him and eat him alive.

Obviously, the ghost boy’s eyes glistened, and then he gave a queer smile. Shortly after that, it made a strange sound. All of a sudden, Xia Mingyu felt even colder behind his back. The little ghost was summoning the other ghosts!

“Damn it!” For the first time, Xia Mingyu didn’t swear in his heart. He shouted it out and rushed forward with the Tiyue Tang Sword. The ghost boy kept roaring and meanwhile took a step backwards. Stared by Xia Mingyu in astonishment, it possessed a passer-by’s body.

Damn it. This ghost boy could possess human! Xia Mingyu got anxious. Why did he think this ghost boy was easy to handle? It was very clever and as cunning as a fox, believing that Xia Mingyu would not hurt living humans. Therefore, it controlled the passer-by to force him step by step towards the entrance of the dark street again.

Faced with the passer-by possessed by a ghost boy in front of him and the ghosts behind him itchy for action, Xia Mingyu was driven into a desperate situation again, just like in the tomb of the Zhao Family, but this time he might not be so lucky.

Waving his Tiyue Tang Sword, Xia Mingyu killed a ghost behind him who couldn’t wait to rush over. He gasped for breath, held the sheath with his right hand, and instantly blocked him with the sheath when the passerby sprang at him.

He turned the Tiyue Tang upside down and then bumped into the passer-by with his elbow, forcing the passer-by to take a few steps backwards. Then Xia Mingyu continued to strike a side kick, but obviously, the ghost boy saw through his action. The passer-by grabbed Xia Mingyu’s leg and pushed him towards the dark street.

Xia Mingyu, caught off guard, was suddenly pushed into the dark street. Instantly, the ghosts rushed towards him abruptly. Xia Mingyu hurriedly slashed at the ghosts with the Tiyue Tang Sword. However, there were too many ghosts. No matter how fast he was, he was retrained by the ghosts, unable to move at all.

“Haha, you’re dead meat.” The passer-by spoke. Xia Mingyu knew that the passer-by was compelled by the ghost boy to speak. Now that he had already exhausted strength and the Tiyue Tang Sword dropped onto the ground, which wouldn’t be of use, he had to wait for death then.

“You shouldn’t help the one who should die. You deserve it!” After saying this, the passer-by fell to the ground. Xia Mingyu stared in desperation at the ghost boy spring at him, feeling a rush of coldness. The ghost boy bit on Xia Mingyu’s neck and those ghosts seemed to be encouraged. They also showed their teeth and started to enjoy their meal.

“Ah!” Bitten by the ghosts all over his body, Xia Mingyu couldn’t help shedding tears due to the extreme pain, feeling torn apart by the beasts. He would rather die right away but he just couldn’t.

Actually, the ghosts could not touch him, but somehow, he could feel that he was bleeding, which indicated that these ghosts were biting him, as if beasts tearing into their food. Ah, why couldn’t he die faster? It was too painful for him…

Did he have to experience being killed by ghosts without anyone coming to save him again, just like what happened before… He didn’t want to die. Not at all! Why? Why should he bear with this alone? The ghost boy also jumped to the nearby gound.

Xia Mingyu’s ragged clothes due to the fight and the blood on his body made him look so awfully miserable. He was actually thin and weak as if he would fall down with a push, but now holding the Tiyue Tang Sword, he seemed like a king with an arrogant and sinister look.

When Wu Jiuge and the others arrived, in the dark street there was only a dying ghost boy, falling at the corner and Xia Mingyu, leaning against the wall, unconscious.

Xiao Yu intended to kill the ghost boy, which was stopped by Wu Jiuge. The latter just walked to the ghost boy calmly and lifted it. The ghost boy didn’t struggle at all, leaving itself lifted by him and thrown into Xiao Yu’s arms.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Xiao Yu looked at the ghost boy with a frown, disgruntled. Wu Jiuge held Xia Mingyu up and turned around, saying, “It can’t die yet. I have some questions for it. ”

Having said so, he left with Xia Mingyu. Xiao Yunu pouted his lips. Then he suppressed his urge to throw the ghost boy out, and followed him with the ghost boy disdainfully. He also remembered to drag Tufu that was still staring blankly aside.

However, they were stopped soon by those people who were hunting Sam. The passers-by around all ran away, afraid of being involved. Sam was very afraid, almost leaning on the teenager’s body and meanwhile holding his hand. Seemingly, he was really freaked out.

The leading person saw Wu JiuGe and then nodded with him. They started negotiating and those people seemingly intended to take Sam and Xia Mingyu away. Xiao Yu snorted and said nothing. She was aware that if those people only demanded taking Sam with them, Wu Jiuge might not interfere. However, if they also wanted Xia Mingyu, Wu Jiuge would never agree.

After all, Wu Jiuge had waited for Xia Mingyu for such a long time. He said so, and suddenly a venomous snake with red lines with black background slithered from his sleeves. The venomous snake slightly raised its head and hissed, showing its venom. However, those people obviously didn’t feel scared by a snake. Someone took out a gun and pointed at Wu Jiuge. It seemed that a fight was about to start. Xiao Yu turned around to cover Tufu’s eyes.

The venomous snake stuck out its tongue and suddenly flung out to bite at the neck of the man who took out the gun first. All of a sudden, his blood splashed in all directions. Unlike the ghost boy, which only bite a bit to suck the blood of Xia Mingyu, the venomous snake bit off a bit trunk of flesh of that man with its wide-open mouth.

The man was killed on the spot. Perhaps it was due to severe loss of blood or the venom. Someone tried to step on the venomous snake on the ground. As the snake blinked its pupils, it gradually got larger and instantly became as thick as a bucket. Those people all shot at it, but as the scales of the venomous snake were too hard, the fired bullets were bounced back.

“I gave you a chance.” Wu Jiuge said indifferently. The venomous snake swallowed several people in one bite. Raising its head and hissing, it was about to eat the last person. but it was stopped by Wu Jiuge. Wu Jiuge said, “Go back and tell your boss. I don’t care who you are. If you dare to lay a finger on my man, I will definitely make you pay. Remember this.”

The man ran away, scratching and scrambling. The snake turned into its original shape and went back into the sleeve of Wu Jiuge with a swoosh. Xiao Yu released her hand off Tufu’s eyes. The rabbit spirit looked around with confusion. Sam and the teenager were obviously scared. The teenager wanted to leave trembling but Xiao Yu just knocked him out.

“Hey, Wu Jiuge, do you want to erase his memory?” Xiao Yu squatted beside the teenager, Wu Jiuge glanced at her and nodded. Then Xiao Yu acted with her permission.

Sam sat on the ground, totally freaked out, begging Wu Jiuge not to kill her. She was an innocent person. Xiao Yu got snappish and shouted, “Shut up! What a nuisance! If it weren’t for you, why would Xia Mingyu become like this?”

People always showed partiality to those on their side. In Xiao Yu’s eyes, Xia Mingyu and Wu Jiuge were clearly a couple. In this case, of course she must defend for Xia Mingyu.
