Chapter 96 The Primordial Forest of the Demon World

Xia Mingyu frowned bitterly. Although he knew that Delmanshi should be under the Evil Soul, after the previous lesson, he didn’t really believe Delmanshi. He glanced at Huskeley and said, “I can’t go. I’m going back to my room to rest. Didn’t you say the source of the demonic power is about to run out?” How long could it last?”

“One week. I can only last for one week. If you don’t infuse magic in one week, the demon world will collapse.” Delmanshi became anxious. “Your Majesty, are you angry because of my brusqueness? Please. If the demon world collapses, all the demons will die. If you hate me, please punish me. Don’t let the whole demon world fall into desperation.”

Delmanshi’s words made Xia Mingyu extremely embarrassed. He was not Evil Soul at all. Without any magic, how could he inject the magic to the demon world? But if the demon world was destroyed because of him… some of these demons were vicious, but they shouldn’t die…

“I know… Go and tell them first that I will infuse magic into the source of the demon power.” Xia Mingyu calmed down and intended to send away Delmanshi.

Delmanshi nodded and leaped onto the black bat and left. Xia Mingyu sighed in relief and asked Huskeley, “You should tell me now, shouldn’t you? How to enter the magic?Otherwise, we will all die in a week.”

Huskeley looked at Xia Mingyu with his eyes full of loyalty, “Master, you once said that the skull mushroom in the primordial forest can help absorb energy and evolve, and… If you are in trouble, I can take you to the primordial forest for shelter and training.”

The other self had planned everything. Impressive… Xia Mingyu has never admired himself before. Actually, they were the same person. How could they be so different? He heaved a sigh of depression. What would his other self think about Ma Yunlu’s matter?

Whatever. Now was not the time to think about this. What he should do was to grow stronger in the demon world and then go back to his friends. Supposedly, at that time, he woundn’t have to rely on anyone anymore. Without dependence and expectation, would he stop feeling sad then?”

“Let’s go. To the primordial forest. I think, I’m really too weak.” Xia Mingyu closed his eyes. Chen Yutian’s death had already given him a warning. Nothing in the world was pernament. If he was not strong enough, he couldn’t protect anything. The more he cared, the more he would lose, which was probably the lession the other self taught him…

“Yes, master.” Huskeley said and walked over to hold up Xia Mingyu. The young man slightly

struggled uncomfortably. “Cut it out. Put me down. I can walk myself.”

“Master, the primordial forest is far away from here.” Huskeley’s words left Xia Mingyu speechless. Xia Mingyu slightly pouted. “Okay, how are you going to get there? You can’t fly, can you?”

“I don’t have to fly. I’m fast enough.” Huskeley’s reply made Xia Mingyu speechless. It happened that the golden caterpillar climbed over and then Xia Mingyu let the blue soul-eating worm carry the golden caterpillar follow them.

Huskeley moved really fast, which was just jumping around on the roof. Yet, Xia Mingyu felt no different from standing on the back of Tengxiao. His acrophobia seemed to be incurable…

Arguably, the primordial forest was a primitive forest with big towering trees.  Standing outside the forest, Xia Mingyu was dumbfounded. To be honest, the forest of the demon world was never so spectacular. Even the Amazon rain forest had never made people feel so small.

“What does that skull mushroom look like?” When he stepped into the primordial forest, the potent primitive smell wafted by. Xia Mingyu looked afar and realized that he knew nothing about the plants in the forest.

Huskeley thought about it and said, “It’s nothing special. It looks like the head of the low-level demon.”

Xia Mingyu didn’t know what to say then. Was this a cultural difference? What did Huskeley mean? Nothing special? As expected, the foreboding feeling when he heard the name was correct. If this skull mushroom were put into the mortal world, it would surely cause a serious sensation.

He had nothing to say. Xia Mingyu carefully looked for the mushroom, about which he still had some common sense. He knew that the mushroom grew in the shade of the tree’s root, but he didn’t see any mushroom like skull but many big ants. The ants looked like army ants but they had weird lines on the body.

Xia Mingyu took a few steps back and returned to Huskeley. “Hey, Huskeley, the ants are carnivorous. Let’s go.”

“You mean these? Don’t worry. The low-level demons don’t dare to mess around in front of higher-level demons. They will leave on their own.” Huskeley didn’t care about them. Instead, it just walked between the two trees. Xia Mingyu looked at the ants and found that the ants were busy fleeing. Well, the hierarchy of the demon world was quite strict.

This was the first time that Xia Mingyu had no need to worry about being attacked by strange creatures, because the vines, insects and animals had disappeared almost within three metres away from Huskeley. Even if the silver vines here were much bigger than those in the tomb, as Huskeley approached, all the vines fell on the ground, which didn’t dare to mess around.

Impressive. Xia Mingyu looked admiringly at Huskeley next to him. Huskeley met his look and then moved his ears with its tail waving from side to side, which seemed quite happy and yet still looked expressionless.

“Huskeley, look at that. Is that it?” Xia Mingyu suddenly glanced at the huge tree aside with a lot of small black pimples. To take a closer look, it was really the small mushroom in the shape of skull. Strangely, it didn’t grow on the root but on the tree.

Huskeley nodded, walked over and scraped a lot of the tree with his claws. Xia Mingyu curiously asked, “How to use this? Eat it?”

“Hmm.” Huskeley handed over the skull mushroom on his hand. Xia Mingyu looked at it with his amber pupils filled with surprise, “Do I have to eat it raw?”

“Everyone eats like this…” Huskeley looked at Xia Mingyu with confusion. It assumed that he was afraid of being poisoned, so he tasted one first, “It is not poisonous. Don’t be afraid.”

No, no, no, he was not afraid of poison… Was it really okay to eat it raw? Would it taste weird? No wonder Huskeley would have said before that he wouldn’t be used to the food in the demon world…

“Well… I think I will make a mushroom stew. I cannot eat it raw…” Xia Mingyu looked at the vivid “skull”. Alas! He would be dragged to a meeting by Delmanshi rather than eat it raw.

“But… No one has ever cooked this before. I don’t know what it will be like after being cooked. Is there any problem?”

“… Okay, I’ll eat it.” Xia Mingyu sighed and hesitantly put a skull mushroom into his mouth. He didn’t dare to open his eyes even after he bit it. Well, it tasted quite weird. It was bitter, and then turned sweet, sour and a bit spicy. Was it supposed to be how the mushroom tasted?

Xia Mingyu licked the lips and the four flavors disappeared after he swallowed the skull mushroom. It was strange and yet interesting.

“You can only eat one at a time. Have another one in an hour. It grows on only one tree within this area. I’ll put these away first. Now, let me help you start training.”

“Hmm.” Xia Mingyu agreed and then saw that Huskeley threw the skull mushrooms at the following blue soul-eating worm and the golden caterpillar. The poor two people protested but it was ignored. The golden caterpillar had to stand being stabbed with the mushrooms onto its body by the blue soul-eating worm. Its original soft golden hair stood up, which made it look like a hedgehog.

Xia Mingyu grinned, “Haha, Huskeley, look at the golden caterpillar. It becomes a hedgehog.”

Huskley glanced at the golden caterpillar and snorted lightly. The golden caterpillar, which felt like running to Xia Mingyu’s feet out of fear, hedged and retracted.

The place for training seemed to have been set by Huskeley before. It was a waterfall, beneath which there was a pool. Xia Mingyu looked into the water and saw his shadow in the clear water. He saw various kinds of weird fishes in it.

“Well, what training am I going to take?” Xia Mingyu looked up at Huskeley. The latter picked up a fish from the water with one claw and said lightly, “To catch fish.”

What? To catch fish? Did he hear it wrong?

Xia Mingyu frowned in disbelief and asked again, “Did you just say ‘catching fish’? Are we really going to catch fish?”

“Hmm, to train your reaction ability and speed. The fishes are different from those in the human world. You must be careful.” As he spoke, Huskeley saw that the fish in his palm suddenly turned over to bite him. Instantly, Huskeley patted it back into the water.

Xia Mingyu felt as if knowing something. Was the fish piranha?

Huskeley seemed to have guessed his idea and then said, “That one was piranha, but not only one type of fish is in the water, so you may encounter some trouble amidst catching fish.”

“Okay, noted.” Xia Mingyu took a deep breath and put down the Tiyue Tang Sword. Due to the piranha, he didn’t take off his clothes before jumping into the water. Well, should he be bitten by the piranha, with the protection of the clothes, he would feel better.

The moment that he went under the water, Xia Mingyu was “warmly welcomed” by the fish. All kinds of fish rushed to him and swam around him. Xia Mingyu reached out his hands to catch it but he got nothing. He tried several times and yet, he couldn’t even touch the fish, not to mention catching it.

He felt his ankle gripped all of a sudden and then got dragged into the water. Xia Mingyu reluctantly opened his eyes and saw something like an octopus. It was the tentacles that entangled his ankle. Huskeley didn’t mean to help. He had to live on his own.

Fortunately, he was alerted all the time. Although the Tiyue Tang Sword was too long for him to use under the water, he still had the knife he had hidden before.

Xia Mingyu took out the folding knife from the trouser belt, stabbed it into the tentacles. The tentacles instantly retreated. Xia Mingyu quickly surfaced to breathe.

The fish around him increased instead of decreasing. Xia Mingyu worried that the tentacles would come to him again so he sped up catching the fish. However, the fish moved too agilely. His arms were sore but he still failed to reach the fish.
