Chapter 97 The Fish

Translator: Cheryl_M

Was that really fish? It was as slippery as a loach. Xia Mingyu pouted in chagrin. A fish suddenly leapt out of the water and waved its tail. All the water splashed onto Xia Mingyu’s face, making him wet all over the body. Xia Mingyu was already annoyed. As the fish jumped up, he slashed at it and meanwhile grabbed the fish with the other hand. The knife was stabbed into the fish and then the fish died.

Xia Mingyu excitedly waved the fish stabbed with the knife, “Huskeley, is this okay?”

“Although it’s better to catch alive, the dead one is fine too. Take your time. No worry.” Huskeley said and fetched the dead fish thrown by Xia Mingyu. Then it passed the fish to  the golden caterpillar. It was then that Xia Mingyu realized that the worm was carnivorous.

Xia Mingyu sighed and looked at the fish swimming leisurely in the water. Then he clenched his fists. Come on.

After staying in the water for an hour, the octopus-like fish didn’t appear again for some unknown reason. Xia Mingyu’s training went quite smoothly. Although he caught only one fish, he made it anyway. After climbing ashore, he took a skull mushroom from the back of the golden caterpillar and ate it. Then Huskeley told him to rest for a while before going into the water again.

Xia Mingyu took this opportunity to look over the surroundings. The waterfall was big and high, and he didn’t know what it looked like above the waterfall. Xia Mingyu went around to the cliff for a check only to find that there was a path. As it was covered by the waterfall, it wouldn’t be found unless he walked over here.

Xia Mingyu didn’t know what to expect on the path, so instead of taking the path, he returned to the pond and carefully observed the fish in there. The fish that had jumped out of the water was light blue. Its fins were long, which looked like wings. Xia Mingyu remembered that it would jump out of the water every ten minutes or so, so most of the fishes he killed were of this kind. Huskeley told him that the fish was called Feiyi, which was vegetarian.

There was also a kind of long and thin electric eel, not very big, and the longest one was only as long as Xia Mingyu’s forearm. It was fair enough to say that he suffered most from the electric eel, because he was zapped by it for several times, making his arms still numb by now. Luckily, the electric shock was not that strong, or his arms would be paralysed.

There was another kind of fish that Xia Mingyu didn’t see clearly from the beginning to the end. All he saw was the waves and he couldn’t find it anyway. Hence, he directly ignored it. After all, he couldn’t catch it regardless.

“Huskeley, I just saw a path behind the waterfall. Anything over there?” Xia Mingyu played with the water out of boredom. The fishes didn’t seemingly dare to get too close to the shore, so he could only look at them instead of reaching out for them.

Huskeley nodded. When Xia Mingyu asked whether he could go over there and have a look, it instantly dispelled his thought. “It’s also a training field, but Master, you can’t go there now. When you get the thing at the bottom of the pond, you can go then.”

Xia Mingyu had to agree. Actually, he didn’t have such a strong desire to go over there and see it. When he rested enough, he went into the water to catch fish.

“The presbyter of our witch clan is the messenger of God. Our clan exists only to help the Heavenly Soul to accomplish his mission. As the soul keeper, you must be loyal, or the whole witch clan will be ruined!”

His eyes suddenly opened. Wu Jiuge frowned. He just dreamed about what the previous presbyter said to him at the ritual when he was selected as the latest presbyter. Why did he dream about what happened so long ago?

His throat was a bit sore and hoarse. He couldn’t make any voice now. Covered with the sheet, Wu Jiuge finally recalled that he seemed to be raped by Cao Pi… The darned corpse!

“Since you are awake, have some water.” Speak of the devil, here came Cao Pi. Even though Wu Jiuge felt eager to kill him, he had no other choice but to lie in bed, staring at Cao Pi with gritted teeth.

Cao Pi passed the glass but Wu Jiuge didn’t fetch it. Instead, the latter just glared at Cao Pi with alertedness and resentment and hummed. Then Cao Pi smiled and said, “You don’t want to drink it? Then you must feel well now. How about doing for a few more times?”

The glass was snatched by Wu Jiuge. He took a sip or two of the water and returned the glass to Cao Pi. The latter put the glass aside and then pinched the jaw of Wu Jiuge, saying, “Speaking of which, your body tastes good. Remember this, you owe me one more time.”

“Shame on you!” Wu Jiuge immediately got angry and struck a punch over. Cao Pi pinched his wrist easily and leaned over to kiss him on the lips.

Wu Jiuge just woke up. Plus what happened before, his body was still not recovered. Hence, he couldn’t resist at all. Cao Pi’s cold tongue stuck into his mouth, swept over his teeth and entangled with his tongue.

After a kiss, Wu Jiuge could hardly breathe with his ears bloody red. He turned around his head in annoyance. Cao Pi sneered and said, “You were too tired back then so I’ve cleared your body for you. You owe me another and I’ll save it for next time. Maybe it will be doubled.”

Wu Jiuge doesn’t want to talk to Cao Pi anymore. Never had he seen such a shameless guy. Whatever. It was pointless to talk about shame with a corpse.

“Stay here. Don’t run around, or you won’t be so comfortable next time.” Cao Yan said, opened the door and went out. Wu Jiuge glanced at the closed door, snorted coldly, and called, “Qiqi.”

The green snake flew in from outside the balcony and looked at his master’s flushed face, “My lord, it’s all my fault. I was thrown out by the corpse. My spiritual power was sealed by him and didn’t get unleashed until just now.”

Wu Jiuge shook his head, “It’s okay. Do you receive the message from Tengxiao?”

“Not yet, my lord. What are we going to do next? We can’t stay here, can we?” It wanted to entangle the arm of Wu Jiuge, but it was parried. Wu Jiuge lowered his head to look at his own arms full of hickeys and frowned in depression.

“Go and find me a suit of clothes with long sleeves as soon as possible.”

“Yes.” With a swish, Qiqi flew out. Wu Jiuge sighed with a relief, looked at the numerous hickeys on his body and closed eyes. Out of sight, out of mind.

“Hey, there you are. Hey, Cao Pi, what have you got from the interrogation? Did he confess who he was? Instigated by whom? What is his target?”

As Cao Pi showed up, He Nai stopped eating and approached him with excitement to inquire. Cao Pi took a bowl and chopsticks to get some rice and dishes, saying, “Yes, he’s a presbyter of the witch clan.”

“That’s it? No way? You stayed in the room for the whole afternoon!” He Nai was dissatisfied. “If I had known the outcome, I would have done it myself.”

Cao Pi ignored her and went upstairs with the meal. He Nai grimaced at him. Why was he so arrogant? Bad man!

“What a troublesome woman!” Cao Pi opened the door and just wanted to ask Wu Jiuge to eat something. Yet, he found that the bed was empty. Instantly, he put on a long face with anger. Good. Wu Jiuge had escaped. Next time Cao Pi must tie him up without any chance for him to escape.

Wu Jiuge had changed clothes. As he was delivering the demonic message with Qiqi on the roof, he suddenly coughed and felt unease. However, he didn’t think too much and instead focused on delivering the demonic message. He must ask the spirits to look for Xia Mingyu. If it was really the Evil Soul that took away Xia Mingyu, Zhao Yun was not the Evil Soul then. It was someone else hiding in the silver vines.

In this case, Xia Mingyu was really dangerous.

Xia Mingyu practiced until the evening and felt exhausted. His hands and feet were so sore that he was carried back by Huskeley. However, to his greatest surprise, the golden caterpillar was not full to death.

“Huskeley, do we have to come here tomorrow?” Xia Mingyu yawned and asked in bed. Huskeley nodded, closed the window and door of the balcony, and cast a spell to make others unable to approach him.

“Huskeley, where are you sleeping?” With his head tilted, Xia Mingyu watched it acting around. It seemed that as if Huskeley was going to cast spells on every corner of the room.

Huskeley turned his head and pointed to the floor by the bed. Xia Mingyu twitched his mouth. “You… Are going to sleep by me? On the ground?”

“Yeah, it’s easier to protect you.” Huskeley said, lying down on the floor. Xia Mingyu felt that it was too cold on the ground. After thinking for a while, he moved aside. “Huskeley, you’d better sleep on the bed.”

“I don’t dare to offend you, Master. No worry. Werewolves are not afraid of coldness.” Huskeley spoke honestly, but Xia Mingyu didn’t feel that way. He had a terrible conscience about that he himself slept in bed while Huskeley slept on the ground…

“Then take it as an order. Come up.” Xia Mingyu felt that he could only deal with Huskeley  in Evil Soul’s way. Indeed, as he finished talking, Huskeley instantly got up and climbed into the bed obediently.

To be honest, this was the first time he had slept in a bed with other people apart from Zhao Yun. Xia Mingyu looked at Huskeley’s ears, which were fluffy. No wonder the other self liked pinching the ears. They did look really comfortable.

“Ah, you’ve grown familiar with Huskeley now.” A familiar voice came from the bottom of his heart. Xia Mingyu was surprised. “Are you awake? Is your quiescent stage over?”

“No, I just woke up temporarily because of the skull mushroom.”

“Oh I see… By the way, it is said that the source of magic can only last a week. So… can you inject the magic now?” Xia Mingyu thought of what Delmanshi had said and hastily told the Evil Soul. The latter smacked his lips.

“Please, I haven’t fully restored my power. I can’t do anything about it. Besides, what’s the hurry? There is still a week to go. Also, we can take the opportunity to let those old people know who the master of the demon world is.”

“Uh…” Xia Mingyu was speechless and thought of who the Evil Soul was. After being silent for a while, he asked, “You… why didn’t you tell me that you were Evil Soul?”

“…” The Evil Soul didn’t say anything, but he quickly replied, “Didn’t I ask you if the whole world stood against me, would you still be with me? You promised to be with me… Don’t you know what it means?”

What? How could he know what it meant? He wouldn’t think that it was Evil Soul, okay? Xia Mingyu was a little mad.

“Yet, here is the question. You seem very unhappy after knowing that I’m Evil Soul? What? Are you afraid I’ll kill you?”
