“Attorney Kang?” Surprised, Yoonshin made his way through the crowd and ran to Sehun’s car. He stood in front of the window and looked at Sehun, preventing the general public from seeing the older man. “What brought you here?”

“Is your hand broken?” Sehun asked, out of the blue.

Yoonshin looked down at both hands and shook his head. Perhaps Sehun was asking backhandedly why Yoonshin didn’t call, but that didn’t seem to be the case. They never promised to meet, so Yoonshin was quite pleasantly surprised to see Sehun. Yoonshin wasn’t sure whether he felt happy to see Sehun because he simply liked Sehun as a person or because of something deeper than that. In any case, he was glad.

“No, I’m fine,” Yoonshin replied.

“Good. I can’t get out and open the door for you. It’s cringy and embarrassing. Get in.”

“Do you always have to say things that way? You could have just told me to get in.”

“I keep wanting to tease you because it’s amusing that you react every time. Quit yapping and get in.”

Consciously repressing his pink lips from jutting out, Yoonshin ran to the passenger’s side. While Yoonshin got in and stared at Sehun’s profile, Sehun rolled up his window and leaned toward the younger man.

Yoonshin knew that nobody would care to stare into the car, but there were still a lot of people around. Regardless, it seemed like Sehun wanted to lean in for a kiss.

Feeling that this was wrong, Yoonshin carefully wrapped his hand around Sehun’s wrist.

“Here is a bit…” Yoonshin refused the older man’s advances. Sehun narrowed his eyes, then he pulled Yoonshin’s belt with his free hand, securely buckling him in. He twisted his arm away from Yoonshin’s grip.

When Sehun’s hands were both back on the steering wheel, Yoonshin finally grasped the situation. He had misinterpreted the older man’s actions. He whipped his head away in mortification. His pale reflection in the window was enough to clearly show how embarrassed he was.

Witnessing Yoonshin’s reaction, Sehun tightened his grip on the wheel. He bit his bottom lip, holding back the laughter threatening to explode before letting out an airy sigh, and drove out of the hospital lot. Yoonshin looked a bit relieved; he was worried that Sehun would snicker sarcastically.

They drove like that for quite the distance.

Yoonshin had been merely blinking and breathing as he recovered from his embarrassment. When he recovered somewhat, he mustered up his courage and peeked at Sehun. “Why did you come here?”

“To take you as a hostage.”

“What were you hoping to achieve by holding me as your hostage?”

“I don’t know. I’m still thinking. Secretary Tak said that you didn’t bring your car, so I just dropped by on my way. I was getting off work anyways, and we happened to live in the same building.”

“You came to pick me up? You couldn’t have known when my meeting would end.”

“I just figured you would stay until the end of the visitation hours. It was obvious, knowing you.”

He felt like he was in the palm of Sehun’s hand. Frankly speaking, Yoonshin already knew that. Yoonshin had nothing to refute, so he changed the subject. “Did you have dinner?”

Sehun was rather nice about responding to his inane question. “Yep. I ate with a client. You?”

“I just grabbed a bite to eat with the kid’s parents. But why do I feel like our conversation is going too smoothly? You have a champion-level certificate in sarcasm and snide remarks. It’s awkward when you’re nice.”

Baffled, Sehun finally looked at Yoonshin. “Why are you complaining when I’m treating you decently?”

“Then would you reflect on your usually cold and irritable attitude…?”

“No.”

“I thought you didn’t want to be disturbed while you traveled between work and home because you considered it your personal time.”
