Omegaverse: The Alpha X’s Prey

Chapter 29 - a small price to pay for stupidity

Oh shit.

Maverick got himself into a bit of a predicament….

From the shock of seeing a very much nȧkėd Easton…

The Alpha X panicked.

So now, Easton is sleeping peacefully on his bed. With only a towel covering him. A very small towel at that.

"Shit!" Maverick swore again, out loud this time. His hands ripping out his hair in frustration. Every now and then his eyes would dart

There were more important matters at hand than Maverick's ravishing mate.

Like how he just knocked out his own mate.

Who the hell does that to their own mate?!?

The Alpha f**king X.

Why couldn't he just hit the bloody red buŧŧon and walk out? Because there's a witch meticulously guarding the door, looking for a sign of movement-however miniscule-behind the wall.

Maverick chuckled sarcastically at the thought of Gabrielle. He's only tolerating her because she's his precious mate's mother. The young man forced his mind to conjure up a solution that would miraculously get him out of the Oaks' Residence.

Think. Think!

The first person to come to mind was his twin brother. Maverick sighed. Donovan would definitely flip out at the thought of the Alpha X inside his house. But, the omega has helped Maverick many times.

Maverick winced at the thought of the inevitable lecture his younger twin will give him. A small price to pay for his stupidity.

<…Donovan?…>

Miles away at an elite university campus, Donovan stiffened in his seat. His hands clutched Mark's lab coat, signaling to him that the connection opened.

They were in chemistry class, and are currently conducting a small experiment with dangerous chemicals. Mark understood and took over Donovan's spot, giving him space to answer back. His eyes turned darkened at the thought of Donovan contacting Maverick.

Why today of all days?

<What's the matter?>

Maverick couldn't hide the guilt, and Donovan sensed it through the connection.

<I need your help.>

Those four little words brought dread to Donovan. What has he gotten himself into this time? The omega kept quiet, allowing his twin to continue.

<I'm at your house.>

Donovan had a delayed reaction. Out of the many possible scenarios the omega came up with, this wasn't even at the bottom of the list.

<WHAT?>

<I know, I know. It sounds bad, but it's not.>

<Out of all the things you do, this had to bit it? Huh?>

<Save the lecture for later. I'm in Easton's room.>

Donovan's eyes widened and he cursed loudly, forgetting the environment. Heads only turned briefly before going back to what they were originally doing. It's not uncommon for a student to have a meltdown.

Mark glanced over and locked eyes with Donovan. That look in the omega's eyes could only mean one thing. There's going to be a breach in their plans.

The beta gritted his teeth in anger. Of course that damned Maverick would interfere. It's like he has a sixth sense or something. Mark gave a dry chuckle. Of course the Alpha X has a sixth sense. Probably dozens more.

<What do you mean Easton's room?>

Donovan was livid, and he made sure to project as much of his anger to Maverick.

<I can't get out…Gabrielle's outside and Easton's inside.>

<This will be the last time I do any favors for you brother.>

Maverick winced at the harsh tone. Once Donovan cut off their connection, the alpha heaved a big sigh of relief. He'll just rely on his trusty twin. So in the mean time…

<You better not touch him.>

Donovan's voice startled Maverick. He immediately jumped up where he was sitting (right next to Easton) and retracted his hands.

<I'm not going to!>

They both know it's a lie.
