Omegaverse: The Alpha X’s Prey

Chapter 42 - the secret love child's wish

~Oaks' Residence~

Alfie was most disappointed when he found out Donovan went back to the dorms without letting anyone know. Couldn't Donovan let Alfie see him off?

"G'night moms! Night bro!" Alfie called out. As usual, Alfie secretly went to clean Donovan's room. This was a ritual that happened most nights whenever the room was vacant, which it often was.

Surprisingly, the room is well maintained, in contrast to the alpha's own messy manhole. Alfie makes sure to dust and air the room periodically. It is because all of his energy is spent on Donovan's room, his room is left to be an absolute pigsty.

Alfie happily jumps onto Donovan's bed once he is satisfied with his work. The alpha breathes in deeply. Soaking in Donovan's essence.

All he can smell is the same laundry detergent the family uses, but somehow there's a slight difference.

The exhaustion of everything that happened today alone came crashing down on him. Donovan was sick, there was that fight with Mark, the *ahem* kissing session with Eddie, and then news of Donovan's adoption.

That is a lot for a fifteen year old to take in. But the best news: Alfie can openly pursue his Vinny without any judgement.

Immediately Alfie jumped up to smooth the wrinkles on the bed. The sheets are marigold in color. For some reason Donovan has a fascination with the orange color and fruit. Anyone who disagreed should take a look inside.

The walls was lathered in generous coats of buŧŧermilk, personally painted by the alpha himself a few years ago. Donovan had stood in front of the paint section of the department store for a looooooong time before deciding on the pale yellow color. Alfie snorts at the memory of Donovan's pursed lips, deep in thought.

The rest of the room followed in suit. There were warm rustic honey tones. The room had a homely vintage feel to it. The best word to describe this chamber: cozy.

Once he is sure all is orderly, he leaves to enter his own.

As he made his way to his own room, he couldn't help but think of Eddie. Immediately he stripped the bed sheets and grabbed the blankets to toss into the laundry machine. He'll need to find a way to apologize to Eddie tomorrow, and them most importantly: convince Vinny that the kiss didn't mean anything.

Thankfully the school year is ending the day after tomorrow. It's the perfect excuse to create some distance between he and Eddie.

But they were still parters in that stupid end of year project...

Crap! The project! Alfie whipped his head to find the clock. 11:17 pm. He'll need to pull an all nighter. It's the least he can do for leading him on today.

Sigh. If only their topic wasn't about conspiracy theories of the Alpha X gene and the hot topic of rich heir Maverick Morris. It's just like everyone else's at school. So unoriginal.

Deciding to take a gamble, Alfie chose to do a different topic. The history of art during the Mutant Period: when the two pairs of Alpha and Omega X's appeared.

The alpha tiredly rubs his eyes. It's going to be a long night.

~Easton's Room~

Gabrielle and Iris tucked Easton in. No, they don't do this nightly. But on his birthday they make sure to pamper their secret love child to no end.

It's an inside joke, calling Easton their secret love child.

Currently Iris was singing a favorite lullaby of Easton's when he was wee one.

Her angelic voice felt velvety smooth, like the topside of a fresh vibrant rose petal.

"You are my sunshine

My only sunshine

You make me happy

When skies are grey

You'll never know dear

How much I love you

Please don't take my sunshine away-"

"Mom?"

"Yes sweet pea?" Iris gently asked.

"You're never too old for a lullaby darling." Gabrielle softly chuckles.

"Am I still in danger?" Easton tested the waters. M was right about Donovan's adoption, then by reason wouldn't M also be right about the other things mentioned in the letter?

"I wish it weren't so darling." Iris had a look of pain in her eyes. There wasn't even an ounce of a lie in her purple eyes.

"From what?" Easton pressed.

"The bad people who hurt your mother and I." Gabrielle spoke up.

The same sentence repeated over and over again. When Easton was younger, he blindly listened and never questioned the ambiguity.

Easton paused, mulling his options over. He wanted to gently ease the conversation topic of going to school.

"Are the bad people still looking for me after eighteen years?" Easton tentatively asked. Before any of his mothers could respond he continued. "I've been hiding my entire life and I may not know how the world outside works, I do know that I've never encountered danger before."

"Sweet pea, where are you going with this?" Iris wasn't slow. Of course Easton would bring up this topic. But it was too soon for her. Her eyes begged her son not to go there.

"I want to go to school."
