Omegaverse: The Alpha X’s Prey

Donovan couldn't breathe. In that moment he was frightened of Gabrielle. Momentarily forgetting that this terrifying woman was the one who had raised him for the past four years.

Only when Iris noticed a quiet whimper did she remember Donovan. Immediately she bent down to scoop him up into her arms. She had forgotten that he, as an omega, would also have been affected by Gabrielle's strong pheromones—like the nurse—as they were not directly related.

Wait...

I forgot he isn't our child! Realization struck Iris like a lightning bolt. Iris smiled to herself, going through the nostalgic memories from the past few months, wondering when she began feeling like that towards Donovan.

"It's alright sweet pea. It's just your mommy." Iris soothed the trembling mandarin in her arms. She understood how he felt. When the Lab Director confronted her about the "crime," it was the first time she felt an alpha's pheromones at maximum level—hopefully also the last.

"The Lab…" The nurse finally made out. This made Gabrielle angrier.

"Yes yes. I know the Lab took him. But where?" She was impatient and subconsciously raised her pheromones up a notch, surprising both her and her mate. Iris supposed she could raise them higher given the circumstances. She took note of that.

The Lab has many centers around the world. Only the Director is allowed free access to any one of the centers at any time.

"Back to…Base X."

Both Iris and Gabrielle turned cold. Base X. The Director's headquarters and where Iris had been confined. Donovan began crying. If he hadn't already went to the bathroom earlier, he definitely would potty himself right then and there.

With a swift kick, Gabrielle knocked the "nurse" out and promptly stopped releasing her pheromones. She looked at the baby in the cart. Personally, she couldn't tell that the sleeping baby wasn't hers. She looked at the trembling mandarin in Iris's arms.

"How did you know, Donovan?" Her voice was still a bit sharp. Donovan only buried himself deeper into Iris, shaking more. Seeing that, Gabrielle softened her demeanor. "Sweet pea. I need to know right now. There are bad people who will hurt him."

Donovan looked up. "Bad people" and "hurt him" got his attention. "The baby is a girl like mommies."

"How can you tell it's a girl?" Iris asked, she stopped recording. It's best that hard evidence of Donovan's newfound abilities don't exist.

"Just like mommies and nurse."

"The baby's in a blue blanket." Iris pressed. Maybe the Alpha X's twin was… different compared to other omegas.

"Baby didn't smell like you." Donovan said. He looked down before saying, "I don't smell like you either."

Iris and Gabrielle gasped. They looked at each other, he knew what that meant. Why didn't he say anything earlier?

"We need to go. I'll call some friends of mine. We'll get our baby back." Gabrielle immediately started removing the IV plugs from Iris's arms. They weren't too worried about that as they already have hospital necessities in their basement. For a long time, Iris had been too scared to leave the safety of her home. Gabrielle let her mate have her way and usually she was the one to go on errands outside of the house.

She promptly placed Donovan on her shoulders and picked Iris up before running out of the hospital.
