Omegaverse: The Alpha X’s Prey

Chapter 7 - I could feel alpha mommy was scared.

Donovan immediately held onto Gabrielle's head to prevent himself from falling off. At the same time, Iris snaked her arms around Gabrielle's neck and Donovan's back, securing the young child and gripping tighter onto her mate. For the first time, Iris was grateful for Donovan's small size. He could pass as a large three year old or a rather small four year old.

When they reached the parking lot, Gabrielle found that their car had been wrecked. The windows cracked and the tires slashed. Of course they wouldn't leave it untampered. Gabrielle cursed loudly as she gently set down her two omega passengers.

"What does f—k mean?" Donovan asked innocently. Iris immediately shushed him, looking over at Gabrielle anxiously. She was pacing around, biting her precious nails. Iris knows how much Gabrielle loves her long nails. "Stylish and deadly, that's what they're for." Gabrielle would always repeat whenever she sharpened and polished all ten of them.

Suddenly a cab drove into the hospital drop off. Gabrielle immediately ran towards it, praising dumb luck that it happened to come by.

Understanding her line of thought, Iris picked up Donovan and ran behind her. Somehow it was like Deja-vu for Donovan. In his mind he saw a night sky peeping through trees. His cheeks were piercing cold and the smell. He gasped. It was Gabrielle! This time Iris was holding him.

"Stop stop stop!" Gabrielle shouted as the cab slowly started driving away.

"Lady, I'm paid to stay here until they come back. I'm only parking the cab." The driver called back in a thick Spanish accent.

"I'll pay you more." Gabrielle fished for her wallet in her coat. She pulled out five one hundred bills. "This should suffice, yes?"

The cab driver froze before nodding. His eyes never leaving the bills in Gabrielle's hand. "Where do you wanna go?"

These damn rich people. Undoubtedly his original customers will file a complaint for not waiting. Eh, money talks.

Just when Gabrielle was about to beckon Iris to join her, the omegas ran past her and got into the car. While Iris was helping Donovan settle into the car, Donovan looked up and saw a different Iris. She looked… rounder. Her cheeks—chubby like Donovan's—were a color he never before saw on her face. A deep red. She looked so tired and quite feverish.

"It's been too quiet. Why won't it cry?" Tired Iris asked.

"He's a boy." Gabrielle's voice! He could feel it too. The gentle vibration of leaning on someone when they talked.

"A boy." Iris leaned a bit towards him. "I can't believe he was inside me just moments ago."

What did that mean? Donovan could only looked back. He tried to talk but he couldn't say anything.

"You're both safe now." Another voice. Sounds a lot like Uncle Bertie. He tried to turn his head towards the voice but once again, he couldn't.

"Donovan?" Iris brought the boy back to reality. "Is everything alright?"

"I didn't cry because I could feel alpha mommy was scared that night."
