Chapter 26 - Yoo Jonghyuk's side quest #25: -Spoiler title.-

Yoo Jonghyuk stared at the semi-transparent screen that had reappeared before him. He could feel the vibrations coming from the underground while traveling inside the car. After the completion of the scenario, the regressor had thought he would be the one vanishing, but instead, the only thing that was being destroyed was Kim Dokja's world. After the illusion served its purpose, there was no reason left for the Star Stream to waste its probability to maintain this empty scenario anymore.

The regressor did not hesitate nor waited for the rest of the page to load, he immediately reached out for the first option. And as he did so, the tremors stopped completely.

He quietly sighed and steadied himself on the backseat. Yoo Jonghyuk looked down on the sleeping teen and reached out his hand to brush back a few black strands of hair behind Kim Dokja's ear. The young man shifted a bit in his slumber and subconsciously tightened his grip around the regressor's hand.

Only Yoo Jonghyuk knew they had just avoided a big disaster.

In the beginning, their show of affection was rather cute and heartwarming but after a few hours of dog food, a single person like Song Daehwa felt that this world was filled with malice and unfairness. The only emotion left inside her weary heart was cringe. Moreover, as if her dissatisfaction hadn't been deemed enough, the road turned out to be unusually bumpy in a certain segment near the crosswalk. Song Daehwa grumbled and made a mental note to report this road section for maintenance later. However, the ups and downs didn't even faze the teen who snuggled in the large black coat, blissfully dozing off while lightly snoring.

As she kept her gaze ahead with a livid expression plastered on her stiff face, she suddenly received a call from the police bureau. Chief Song scowled as she confirmed her cooperation, it's not like she could refuse anyway.

After throwing her phone on the passenger seat, the policewoman slightly tilted her head sideways, casting a subtle glance towards the rearview mirror. Her dark feline eyes shone with an inquisitive glimmer in them.

Song Daehwa wasn't well versed in the worldly affairs regarding love, and because she was a notorious workaholic, all the information she knew about it was by reading some police cases. But although, in all honesty, those weren't very good reference materials for a 'love novice'. And it's not like she doesn't trust him, it's just that all these police reports have left a bad stigma in her heart.

And by all means, Yoo Jonghyuk wasn't a depraved brute, and on the contrary, he behaved more like a cold and detached gentleman of sorts. But even still, her imagination can't help but run awry. Her shoulders slumped down as she heaved a big sigh out, she can't do anything else but give the black-clothed man a verbal warning before dropping them off.

Nevertheless, she had a small hunch that tonight's adventure might not be over yet...
