Overlord: Start from the Goblin Lair

Chapter 30: The Stone Slab in the Tomb

Mindatis said as he quickly ran to the other side. He seemed to be very familiar with this tomb. I don't know which mechanism he manipulated, but a thick stone wall fell down, completely isolating him from Ron.

Quest saw it and reacted quickly. He just glanced at Ron and then flew to Mindatis' side, disappearing behind the stone wall with the elf.

The dwarf spellcaster also noticed something was wrong, but he was born with short legs, so he couldn't retreat in time and was locked up with a group of lizardmen.

"You said that?" Ron looked at him, "We are very short of manpower, so you are welcome to change your allegiance."

"Don't even think about it!" The dwarf glared at Ron fiercely, "I will never be a traitor - go to hell!"

"Giant!"

As the dwarf began to cast spells with spells, gestures and a pinch of iron powder, a lizard man that was already strong immediately began to grow larger. In just a few seconds, its body expanded by two times. It roared at Sera and pounced on all fours.

At the same time, the other lizard men and the goblin hunters outside also responded quickly. One after another, the lizard men rushed into the shield formation of Ivy and Victoria, and a series of arrows shot in from behind the door, bursting sparks and blood on the scales of the lizard men.

"Scorching Shot--"

The dwarf hiding in the corner behind the giant lizard man prepared to cast a spell again. This was his usual tactic: to strengthen a companion who was good at close combat, and then hide and sneak attack.

But unfortunately, he attacked the wrong person this time.

"Pah!"

While the dwarf was still casting a spell with his hand gestures, a feather arrow flew in the air and shot through one of his palms. Not only did he fail to release his scorching rays, but even the giant transformation technique on the lizard man that required him to stay focused was also eliminated.

The poor lizard man had not had time to adapt to this sudden change before he was chopped down by Sera's axe and half of his head was cut off.

"Ha! Do you like it? This is the 'local reduction technique'!" Sera spat on the lizard man's body and laughed.

These lizard men are slightly stronger than their fellow tribesmen outside, but their number is much smaller; on the other hand, Ron's side also has a barbarian joining. When the dwarf was shot through the palm by a cold arrow from Driver, the situation had become one-sided, and the tomb was filled with the smell of lizard man's blood.

As for the dwarf, Ron wanted to spare his life, whether it was by persuading him with reason or emotion, or by using the Great Memory Recovery Technique, as long as he could get a little information out of him.

But those goblins, even Karad, couldn't micro-manage them, and before Ron could stop them, the dwarf was stabbed into a sieve by the goblins who swarmed over.

"I wanted to spare his life," Driver shook his head with regret, "I guess it's useful for you to keep him."

"Forget it," Ron waved his hand, "If he dies, he dies. There should be someone here who knows the purpose of Mindatis, right?"

"Don't look at me," Sera, who was so brave just now, suddenly felt guilty, "I don't get along with that elf, you can see it."

"He never tells me anything. I only know that we came here this time to find a stone slab carved from a purple gem."

"Did you find it?" Ivy asked.

"No," Sera shook her head, "We came from the stone wall and came to the last tomb, but we still found nothing."

"But Mindatis swore to us that he couldn't have found the wrong location, and the stone slab must be here."

"Is it this one?"

Karad came over at this time. There was no suspense in the previous battle, so he didn't take action, but just scoured the battlefield.

In the hands of the hobgoblin, a stone slab about half a meter long and wide was held.

The stone slab was carved from a whole piece of purple gemstone, reflecting a dazzling light under the illumination of Ron's dancing light.

"I don't know," Sera shrugged, "but it looks like it should be it. Where did you find it, big guy?"

"It's in the crack behind the stone door." Karad led everyone over and pointed to the place where the stone slab was found. It was a pile of ordinary rubble.

"There is a secret compartment here. In the past," Ivy walked over and touched a not-so-obvious groove on it, "probably because of the long years, after this mechanism broke down, the stone slab stuck inside fell out, and the stone on top broke and covered it up, so it was not discovered."

"I didn't expect you to find it today."

"My spear poked its edge and pried it out of the pile of stones," said Karad, "Let's not talk about this for now. What exactly does the elf want to do by being so persistent in finding it?"

"Don't ask me, hey!" Sera was speechless, "I really don't know what he wants to do with this thing!"

"Look, there are several grooves on it. Do you need to put something in it before you can use it?" Ron took the stone slab from Karad's hand and looked at it repeatedly.

"Four on the smooth side and three on the sanded side?" Victoria looked at the stone slab thoughtfully, "If I were the one who made the stone slab, I would definitely make the grooves for holding items on the same side."

"Put it vertically?" Driver regretted the moment he said it, because everyone present looked at him with contempt.

This slab is half a meter long and wide, but as thick as Ron's palm. It is almost impossible to stand it upright after embedding objects asymmetrically on both sides.

"Unless... it can float up by itself after activation," Victoria used a detection magic on the slab, "There is indeed a strong aura on it. This is indeed a good magic item, but the problem is that we don't know how to use it now."

"Then we have to take it with us. Mindatis will definitely not give up easily. When we catch him next time, maybe we can ask him something." Ron put the slab away, and no one questioned it.

He is the only wizard in the team - although he is still a half-baked one now.

"Let's search here again. It's a pity to go back empty-handed since we are here - Ivy? What are you doing in front of that coffin?"

After looking at the secret compartment where the slab was originally stored, Ivy went to wander around. This time she stopped in front of a sarcophagus again. I don't know what she found.

"Ron, come here," Ivy didn't turn around, just called him over, "Do you remember the empire I used to bully others?"

"The Hailan Empire?" Ron was stunned, and hurried over. On the inside of the sarcophagus, following Ivy's finger, Ron saw a familiar emblem.

The double lion crown.
