Paying The Price

Chapter 33 - Spy Kids.

Wayne felt the world was spinning, the air seemed to be suffocating as he found it hard to breathe. His only daughter was no where to be found, he prayed she was alright, or else he wouldn't be able to look at himself and face Diana.

Oh Diana!

Diana placed a precious pearl on his hands and he lost it.

Pearl was a precious stone to Diana, an irreplaceable gem, her happiness and also the only benefit she got from marring Wayne. Wayne swore to find his daughter no matter what, who ever did this was sure to pay.

"Wayne, Wayne." Leon and Gabriel called out as they ran to Wayne who was still in daze, holding him firmly to prevent his falling.

Just less than thirty minutes, Wayne had turned pale, he became as light as a feather, the unforeseen occurrence sapped his strength away.

"Come on, we can't find her here let's check the cameras." Gabriel lead him to the car.

.......

The footage shown in the authorities office of a girl jumping out of a moving car didn't really sooth things out.

Even with slow motion, pausing and scanning the video, their search for her was futile, it was like she disappeared among the crowd. Skipping to where the crowd gradually diminished, Pearl could be seen with her rough pony tail and bruises all over her body walking to the next street.

Everyone in the room heaved a sigh of relief.

Wayne took a look at her.

His daughter.

Presently she had two emotions, she was a little scared but mostly brave. Although people tried to help her and tried to stop her, she would only smile and say something. The audio helped them figure out what she was saying. She was asking for directions to the police station, some offered to take her there but she would politely refuse and ask where it was.

The police station wasn't far, so the pedestrians had no choice but to point out where it was.

Joe imperatively sent out some men after her and also called the station to receive a little girl that would walk in.

They still watched the camera to see her next move, but there weren't alone.

......

The old man also sent people after her when they discovered the route she had taken. Their guess was right, she was smart enough to report at the police station rather than coil in a corner and cry.

They were waiting for her to walk into their arms.

......

Pearl recalled her mother's words to always go to the police when something went wrong. She was yet to cognizant why she jumped out of the car. Maybe she had watched too many 'Spy kids'.

The stares was becoming intense, people couldn't ignore the pretty little girl who was badly hurt and in need of some assistance. They constantly stopped her, offering help and delaying her.

Pearl had to do something, otherwise she may never get to the station.

She took an alleyway to the next street, security cameras were absent in the alley so both sides clicked to the next street waiting for her to show up, as they watched her live.
