Chapter 72 - Malfunction

OCTOBER 30

"Your highness?" a voice called out in Dominic's dizzy consciousness.

"Huh…" Dominic replied hoarsely.

"Your highness are you ok?" the voice asked.

Dominic opened his eyes slightly and winced at the light that shone in while trying to make out the blobbish figures of the voice.

"Your highness, are you ok?" the voice asked, "can you move? Stand?"

Dominic tried to raise his head and a sharp pang of pain ran down his spine, sending him into a yelp. He hunched over in shivers as pain set his body on edge, blurring his vision and sending his brain into a frenzy of ringing and buzzing.

Everything was starting to set in. The physical pain was starting to down on him as the anesthetics wore off and his brain was incapable of accepting it all. He fell off the chair and to the ground, shivering from more pain when the hard ground hit his worn out and cut knee. It hurt all over. His arms went numb from the intense throbbing pain from the stab wounds on his arm and hands shook as his entire body quivered from the severe pangs of pain each body part sent out every second.

"Y-you highne- DOCTOR!!!!" the voice yelled, running out the room to get help "SOMEONE PLEASE SEND IN AXEL!!! DOCTOR!!"

Dominic continued to quake on the ground, yelling in agony as he slipped in and out of consciousness; the pain knocking him out and then keeping him awake with another strike of torture.

"Y-your highness?" another voice called out, shaking in fear as he watched the state of Dominic, "GET ME A TEAM OF MY EXPERIENCED MEDICS!! THE PRINCE IS IN DANGER."

Dominic huffed for air, his eyes rolling into the back of his head as he tightly clutched the area above his heart. It felt like someone was constricting his lungs and stifling his heart, not to mention sending a sledgehammer into his back again and again and driving swords through his legs while he shook violently on the ground.

He tried to make out the figures that fluttered around him frantically but black blobs drifted flashed on and off in his eyesight. He tried harder, veins showing through on his head and hands and tears rolling down his hot cheeks as he tried to make out their faces but the pain only got worse, stacking upon each other and striking Dominic with a more powerful hit of pain than the last. Saliva dripped out his mouth uncontrollably as he continued to shake fiercely.

It felt like he was reaching a climax, the pain seemed to be building up to reach a certain point. A point where he could just knock out or hyperventilate intensely and die after. Closer and closer he climbed the tower of pain, shrieking out in horror as the arrows of pain sliced through his head and hammers were brought down on his heart.

POP

His eyes went blank, a wave of coolness washing over them and then sharp pangs of pain after.

"YOUR HIGHNESS!!!" a voice screamed, "Y-YOUR HIGHNESS!! YOUR EYES… IT- AXEL WHAT IS GOING ON?!"

Dominic's senses were starting to wear down, the feeling of the hands clutching his body to keep it from vibrating further were slipping away, as strong rings and buzzing in his head blurred them out.

"His- shutting- off," Dominic heard the voice say.

It was the last sentence he heard as his entire body lifted off the ground in pain as a sword of pain drove into his heart. Foam formed at the edges of his mouth and his eyes rolled into the back of his head as they slowly shut. His body shivered slowly and gave one more twitch before shutting off.

"YOUR HIGHNESS!!!"
