Chapter 89 - Captivating Emeralds

Desilva's hand clutched Axel's arm tightly and slowly opened her eyes to find herself in tight eye contact with Dominic. She was basically inches away from his face and without Axel's hand wrapped around her waist, she would have fallen on top of Dominic, face to face.

A few seconds passed by and she found herself staring into Dominic's emerald eyes. Though his wide eyes looked hilarious and his face was twisted in surprise, his eyes contained a certain calmness that invited her stare, pulling her in by the clear, bright, and peaceful shine in his eyes. It was so captivating that her breath was sucked in.

"Desilva? Are you ok?" Axel asked, pulling Desilva up to face him.

He flinched at her frozen flustered face, her bright red face a direct contrast from her gray-ish blue eyes.

"Desilva?" He asked again, shaking her slightly.

Desilva jumped out of her temporary paralysis and shivered as the memory of the beauty in Dominic's eyes replayed in her mind. She looked up at Axel blankly, her eyes searching in his for a second. 'Such deep blue eyes…' Desilva pondered, her expression calming in Axel's hold, 'though it cannot even be thought to be tried to be compared to Dominic's, they are really pretty too…'

Desilva lightly pushed Axel away, hiding her red face from his. 'Why do all the people from that kingdom have such pretty eyes?' she thought to herself, 'meanwhile...I stand over here like an extra in these two handsome men's presence…' She pushed away the thought and was about to thank Axel when she was shoved aside by him.

"YOUR HIGHNESS!!" Axel yelled, running to Dominic's side after he shoving her aside, "are you ok? YOUR EYES!!! CAN YOU SEE ME? DOES IT HURT?"

"Ah…" Dominic gasped, tightly shutting his eyes again. His eyelids felt like they had been ripped apart, twitching from the sudden opening of his eyes.

He had heard Desilva's yelp and tried to move his body instinctively to help her in some way. Unfortunately, the rest of his body refused to move except his eyes and the pain setback was so immense that he wished he never tried to move at all.

"B-but… hey.. At least I know I'm not blind?" Dominic chuckled, his laugh trembling from pain.

"..." Axel stared at Dominic blankly before letting out a frustrated sigh, "please lay down comfortably your highness, and DON'T RUSH ANYTHING!"

He scolded Dominic as he roughly pulled up the covers over Dominic's body, "it gets cold at night, you'll catch a cold!"

"But.. i-it noon?" Dominic replied hesitantly.

"It is EVENING in NOVEMBER anytime from now, winter is going to kick in and you're going to catch a serious cold," Axel huffed, pulling the last stretch in Dominic's bed sheet before giving it one last pat, "and YOU-"

Axel turned to Desilva abruptly, his eyebrows furrowing deeper in anger as he watched her jump in fear, "ARE YOU BLIND? HOW DO YOU TRIP OVER YOUR OWN TWO FEET?! WHERE ARE YOUR EYE-"

Dominic scooted over to Axel in pathetic shifts and using minimal effort he poked Axel at the back of his leg to grab his attention.

"S-" Axel paused and flinched, a blush spreading across his face as he turned around to face Dominic slowly, pushing away his hand from his leg softly, "yes your highness?"

"Stop scolding her," Dominic commanded, pushing away Axel's hand and pinching his thigh, "you are both on somewhat the same level to me and none of you have the right to scold the other like they are below you. I'm sure she knows what she did was wrong, right Desilva?"

Desilva glanced at the scowl on Axel's face to Dominic, back to Axel, and then nodded her head quickly, bowing her head, "yes your highness, I'm very sorry and could have done serious harm to you if Physician Xicheng didn't catch me. I apologize for my carelessness, please forgive me."

"See~" Dominic smiled, "she apologized, so calm down."

Axel glanced at Desilva, his glare softening when he noticed her stiff position. "Yes, yes, I will, your highness."

He turned back to Dominic with flustered cheeks and lightly tapped Dominic's hand which was still pinching him, "Your highness, I understand… so could you please… your hand."

"Ah right!" Dominic exclaimed as he slowly let go of Axel's thigh and sank back into his resting position.

Axel unconsciously touched the spot where Dominic had pinched for a second and then cleared his throat in embarrassment when he realized Desilva was staring.

They stood in an awkward silence until Axel cleared his throat again.

"Haha, looked like you're the one with the cold," Dominic teased.

"No… it's just that…" Axel began, "I was...try to solve the tenseness in the stiff air."

"Oh…" Dominic muttered, "you can also solve the mood by actually doing what I asked and GIVING DESILVA THE LIST OF THINGS SHE NEEDS TO GET FOR YOU."

"Oh!" Axel gasped, "I forgot. Let me go do that now. Excuse me, your highness."

Axel took a bow and walked to the other side of the tent and pulled out a piece of paper and a feather pen, dipping the pen into a little ink bottle and then started scribbling on the paper.

Desilva walked to Axel's side after making a quick bow in Dominic's direction and went on her tippy-toes to peek over Axel's shoulder and get a peek at his handwriting. It was as exquisite as she had expected it to be, everything written in a smooth motion with wild swoops around some words that still managed to look extremely neat and put together. Her head rested on his shoulder as her feet got tired but he gave no mind and continued writing.

Axel made one more sentence and then an exaggeration addition on a period mark before handing the note to Desilva.

"You can find my tent next to the physician tent of your people. I'm sure you will be able to easily spot all the items. If you can't then you can come back and seek my help. Got it?"

"Yes sir!" Desilva saluted.
