Chapter 11 - 11 - Training with Ben
The next morning, at the beach for a weekday morning training, Rico told Ben how he got Riolu as his first Pokèmon, and its first moves. Amazed by this, Ben commented, "Wow, amazing!"
"Yeah, I know right," Rico brightly replied; he then showed Ben a colorful drawing of the Pokèmon Pinchers. Looking at it, Ben commented, "Wow, nice drawing. Anyway, Pokèmon training. Shall we?" With confidence, Rico responded, "Okay!"
Rico and Ben are now having a Pokèmon battle, for training only, Rico's Riolu versus Ben's Staraptor. Upon seeing a new Pokemon, Rico asked, "Who's that Pokèmon?" He then looked in his Philas Pokedex. The Pokedex then responded, "Staraptor, a Predator Pokèmon, a Normal- and Flying-Type Pokèmon, and the final evolved form of Starly. The muscles in its wings and legs are strong. It can easily fly while gripping a small Pokèmon." In response, Rico commented, "Wow, that's cool." He then put down his Pokedex, and responded to Ben, "Okay, let's begin!" And then, Ben had his first move, "Staraptor, use Gust!" His Staraptor then used Gust, fly high, and flapping its wings, emitting a strong wind. Riolu then tried to withstand it, while Rico shouted, "You can do it, Riolu!" But Riolu got blown away by a few feet. Thinking about this, Ben suggested, "I think your Riolu needs more training." Nodding in agreement, Rico replied, "You're right." And then, their montage of training began: Rico and his Riolu had push-ups, running across the beach with Ben's Staraptor pursuing them, and Riolu's attack training on a rock. All of this are not always easy for Rico and his Riolu, but they succeeded it. Later, after an hour, Rico said to Ben, "Well, it's 7 o'clock now, and I have school today."
"Okay," Ben brightly replied, " I'll see you afternoon I guess."
"So, where are you staying?" Rico asked, "I'll give you money."
"No thanks," Ben answered, "I usually camping." Stunned by this, Rico replied, "What? Okay, but most of the season today is rainy and cloudy. Are you sure?"
"It's okay," Ben replied, "I can stay in your house when it rains." Calmed, Rico replied, "Sure, well, bye;" he and Riolu, in its Pokeball, went home as Ben wavered goodbye.
Later, at afternoon after school, Rico returned to the beach for an afternoon training. Ben was there to help him. The montage of training began, but only includes Riolu's attack training on a rock. When Ben's Staraptor used Gust on Riolu again for the second time, Riolu withstands a bit long, and then got blown away by a few feet. Ben then noted, "Your Riolu's Defense got a bit stronger. Needs a bit more training." Rico then nodded in agreement with him. Later when the time reaches 5:49 p.m., Ben announced, "Well, that's the training for today. Tommorow, we will have Attack training against my Pichu, and exercise."
"Uh...," Rico responded in hesitation, "Can you postpone it until Sunday morning? Because I am busy tomorrow."
"Why?" Ben brightly replied, "Do you have any errands tomorrow?"
"Well, you see," Rico replied, "I have to visit my friend Wesley in the countryside town of Muñoz tomorrow; you know, to see him again." Thinking about this, Ben replied, "I see. Sure, okay, let's postpone our next training until Sunday morning. Besides, that gives me time to investigate about the Pokèmon Pinchers. Okay."
"Thanks," Rico brightly replied, "Well, I have homework to do. I'll see you on Sunday morning. Bye;" he and Riolu then went home as Ben wavered goodbye.
Later, at night at his bedroom, as he lay down on his bed, Rico thought, "Wesley, I have a new Pokemon now, but that's not the one you would think;" he then closed his eyes, and slept.
