Pokemon Pearl

Chapter 111 - 7 - The Cookies Incident

After school, some rest, and training, by late afternoon at the kitchen, Rico and Isaiah are baking chocolate chip cookies for a nice dessert after dinner. Jonathan was reading a book at the living room while Rosario was at Delia's grocery store and Lucas will be coming home before dinner. Rico was whipping and mixing the cream for the cookies, while Isaiah was rolling the cookie dough and forming circles and other shapes using metal cookie molders. It was twilight time, as the moon is rising over the horizon and the surroundings are transitioning from day to night. They were in high spirits, as their Pokémon are playing with each other, even the serious ones.

"This is will be a celebration of the return of my brother," Rico happily commented as he mix the cream with an electric hand-held mixer, "and my friendship with Isaiah and Catherine."

"Wow, that was nice," replied Isaiah back positively as he make molds of cookies with metal cookie molders of different shapes.

"Yeah, me too," Jonathan cheerfully added while concentrating on his book. But, one curious mistake would embarrass Rico for most of his life. Stopping the mixer from mixing, Rico said, "Ooh, let's see how sweet the cream with sugar." What he didn't know is that while his finger was reaching for the cream, he accidentally turned on the mixer, twisting his finger around beaters. Stopping it immediately, Rico tried to get his finger out, but it got really stuck with pain. In panic, Rico calls out to his brother and Isaiah for help. This alerts them and their Pokémon upon seeing this, and move to help Rico remove his finger from the mixer, with Lucario holding its Trainer in the back. After a few times of failed attempts, they managed to remove the finger out without cutting the finger. Though he was free, Rico still suffered from muscle pain of his finger, but it didn't broke any of the finger's bones. Lucario then discharged from holding.

"Rico, are you okay?" Isaiah asked him in concern. Enduring the pain, Rico replied back, "Yes. Ouch, ouch." In quick alert, Jonathan and his Greninja ran to the kitchen to get a bowl and some ice. They then gave it to Rico, who then dipped his hand which had the painful finger, reducing the pain gradually and greatly.

"Rico, why did you turned on the mixer?" Jonathan replied in questioning.

"Sorry, I want to taste the cream I made," Rico replied with mild pain and embarrassment.

"Be careful next time," Jonathan told him. Rico then nodded to say yes in agreement. After that, Rico sat down and continued to dip his finger into the ice and Jonathan returned to his reading while Isaiah handled the mixing of the cream. It was bad, but it got out without any health issues, just muscle pains.

Later at 7 o'clock in the evening, Isaiah was dining with Rico and his family. The atmosphere is really quiet, like nightly quiet. Isaiah and Jonathan told Rico's parents about what happened that late afternoon. This shocks Lucas and Rosario a lot, but was relieved that Rico was not really hurt.

"Rico, you should watch what you're doing," Lucas told his son seriously as a parent.

"Yeah, make sure any electronic devices are too far from your hands," Rosario added a reminder. Scratching his head in embarrassment, Rico responded back, "Yeah, you're right. Sorry." Their Pokémon are eating their special food.

After dinner, Rico and Isaiah presented their baked cookies to Lucas, Rosario, and Jonathan. This amazes them, especially the cookies are cooled down perfectly. They then take one each and takes a bite of it, and then, got interested by its sweet taste and texture.

"Hmm, really good and a bit soft," Lucas commented.

"But the ingredients are perfect," Rosario added a comment. "Really good." They're like food judges of a cooking show due to their slowly and smooth judgment. But in the end, they really liked it, giving Rico and Isaiah a very positive comment and feedback.
