Pokemon Pearl

Chapter 148 - 14 - I Want New Pokémon

Afternoon after school, Rico, Ash, Isaiah, Catherine, and their Pokémon are walking home from school after that hard day full of strange happenings. The afternoon was very nice and sunny, with the sun setting beautifully. Pallet Town was in peace. It seems that nothing strange or amazing had happened. After parting ways with Ash and his siblings, Rico went to his house. And upon seeing his mother and older brother, he greeted them with a good afternoon.

"Oh, good afternoon, Rico Titus," Rosario greeted him back while chilling on a sofa while reading a book in the living room.

"Welcome back, little brother," Jonathan greeted him back in response while stroking his Greninja. Rico's Lucario then responded with greeting. Jonathan's Greninja then responded back with a greeting as well. Rico then headed straight upstairs to his bedroom.

At his shared bedroom, Rico opened the door, feeling exhausted from all that training and class time. After putting his precious shoulder bag onto his desk, Rico lay down on the bed, relieved by the bed's mattress and comfy bedsheet and pillows while his Pokémon are on the floor resting after such a hard day.

"I wished I would catch new Pokémon," Rico wished in his mind. "Maybe a Pokémon Safari would be a good place." And that wish will become true later on.

Later that evening, while having dinner with their father, Rico commented to his parents about catching new Pokémon, especially the types of Pokémon he wanted to catch.

"New types of Pokémon?" answered Lucas back while eating. "But you already got Shinx."

"Yeah, but I think I wanted a Dragon-type," Rico responded back. "What Dragon-type should I get?"

"Well, I think a small one is a good starter for you," Rosario suggested. Thinking about that suggestion, Rico replied back, "I think that'll be good. Like, Iris' Axew?"

"That was a good Dragon-type Pokémon then," Lucas responded with a positive outlook. "It's small, but a very good one." That response makes Rico quickly accepted it, enthusiastically standing up and determined to catch that cute Pokémon. Lucas and Rosario then wished their son good luck.

Not much time was wasted, Lucas and Rosario talked to Professor Ronaldo about Rico's few days off from school, ȧssuring that Rico will do his homework whenever he have the time while in a short vacation. In response, Ronaldo agreed with it, allowing their youngest son to take a short break while doing his homework, which is short for Rico to handle.

In the same time, while he was going to his bedroom after brushing his teeth, Rico again went to his parents' bedroom and to the desk, seeing the letters his father had wrote to Mr. K. This time, it adds two more letters while the other three had been sealed up in white envelopes. Rico was very puzzled and perplexed by the new additions, thinking in his mind, "What the...? Another two more letters?" Again driven by curiosity, he grabbed one of the newly written papers and calmly read it. The letter says:

"Dear Mr. K,

Everything went more good. Though my children progress slowly and gradually, they were loving Trainers to their Pokémon. Rico and Jonathan are getting more and more reconnected with one another. You know, Rico wanted more Pokémon, so I suggested him to go to Philas with Jonathan at a Pokémon Safari. Don't worry, they'll be fine. Jonathan can cook for him and take care of him.

Your friend,

Lucas Cruz"

The letter's contents perplexes the young boy a lot, causing him to put the letter back on the desk and immediately left the room and to his room, all confused and those just added up in his clue to who was the guy Lucas was a friend to. It was a bewildering one, but Rico was getting a pattern picture of it.

The next morning, shortly after waking up, Rico and Jonathan packed their backpacks for the trip and went downstairs to eat a hearty breakfast, along with their Pokémon. Later on, both children and their Pokémon are ready for the short trip, exiting the house and into the streets towards the airport while saying goodbye to their parents, who then wished them good luck. Along the way, both of them saw Ash and his siblings walking from the gym after a routine.

"Good morning, Ash," Rico happily greeted them.

"Morning, Ash,"Jonathan positively greeted them. Rico's Lucario then responded with greeting.

"Good morning," Ash greeted them back. "Where are you two going?"

"Oh, we're going back to our home region," Rico reasoned their departure.

"There's a Pokémon Safari at a place called Saint Martin,"Jonathan explained, "so we could try to catch any Pokémon there."

"Oh, a Pokémon Safari?" Ash responded back with getting what they had said. "That sounds fun. Good luck there." His Pikachu then responded with happy saying.

"Thanks," Rico happily responded back with appreciation. But Rico's reasoning for their departure causes Isaiah to be excited, wanting to catch Ice-type Pokémon.

"You want to go with them?" Ash asked Isaiah in response. Nodding enthusiastically to say yes, Isaiah answered back, "Yeah, because I want to catch an Ice-type Pokémon."

"Wait, you want to come with us?" Rico raised a question to Isaiah with puzzling.

"Yes, and to explore your hometown," replied Isaiah back with enthusiasm. "You're going to that place first after leaving Kanto, right?"

"Yes? Our first stop is our hometown," Jonathan responded back in confusion.

"Yeah," Isaiah replied with a nod. Thinking about this, the two brothers accepted Isaiah into their trip, causing Isaiah to be more excited.

"Don't worry, Ash, we'll take care of him," Jonathan promised to Ash positively. Ash then agreed with him, replying with a thank you.
