Pokemon Pearl
Chapter 25 - 25 - Meet Piplup, the Starter
The next day, early as before the sunrise, Dawn left the hotel where she was staying, and went headed for the airport to go home back to the Sinnoh Region, her home region.
Later, after breakfast, the family went to a cable car station to take a cable car down to the coastal part of the city known as Blue Northern Point, while most locals called it Blue Water Point, due to a popular water safari and harbor. There Rico walked to a souvenir store to look at items available. After minutes of looking, Rico seen a Great Ball for 600 Pokedollars. He then get one and went to the cashiers to pay for it, thinking about catching a rare Pokèmon. After that, he left the store, and head for the harbour where the water safari is. There he and his parents went to the cashiers to get tickets.
"Hello, sir, welcome to the Blue Safari Harbor," the cashier politely and brightly greeted them, "How can I help you?"
"Three tickets for the Penguin Island hopping, please," Lucas politely and brightly asked, "Two ȧduŀts and one child." Calculating the total price, the cashier replied, "Okay, That'll be 250 Pokedollars, please. Cash or card?" Handing her Pokedollar banknotes, Lucas gave it to the cashier. Receiving it, the cashier gave them the tickets, and wished them good luck, "Okay, enjoy." Receiving the tickets, Lucas politely replied, "Thank you." He and his wife and son then left the cashiers' desk, and proceeded to the harbors to ride a tour ferry.
At the harbours, the family board their ȧssigned tour ferry. There are lots of people and tourists there on board, almost filling the two decks, and there are Pokèmon, small and big, common and rare, advantage and disadvantage, on board with their trainers. Once settled on an empty row of seats, the family called out their Pokèmon, Azumarill, Samurott, Magneton, Riolu, and Litleo, and allowed them to view the safari. They were excited, and went around them to view the ferry's second deck. Just then, the anchor was hoisted up, and the tour ferry started to depart for the tour.
Minutes into the safari hopping, they passed through the territorial waters of various Water-type Pokèmon, starter, rare, and common, as the tour guide enthusiastically explained and described about the Pokèmon presented there, using a megaphone to spread the words. As she explained and described about them, most of the passengers took endless pictures of them using their smartphones and cameras. Others, especially kids, looked at their Pokédexes, local and foreign, for more information on them. The Water-type Pokèmon, however, are showing their beauty, coolness, and great power through dances and representations. The people are amazed at their complex and amazing skills, taking lots of pictures of them. Meanwhile, as the commotion went on, the Blue Ninja and his two Pokèmon, Pikachu and Greninja, are standing onto the roof of the safari main building, looking very fierce and serious.
Later, as the sun rises above the day, the tour ferry finally reached their destination of climax, The Penguin Island. The island is full of Piplups, Prinplups, and Empoleons; they all play, chat to each other, swim, and slide around the island and its nearest islets and waters. The tour ferry, however, parked just far enough so the Pokèmon inhabitants would not intervene. The tour guide then explained about them in every detail, including their history and origins. The passengers listened to her sayings, and then gazed towards the special island. Others even took selfies of themselves and the island. The Blue Ninja, however, was now standing on a big rock off the harbour; his Pikachu is on his shoulders, while his Greninja is standing on a separate rock.
"Wow," Rico thought in positivity as he hold his smartphone, "I wish I would catch one of them;" he then pulled out his Pokédex and pointed it towards the island. The Pokédex then responded, "Piplup, the Penguin Pokèmon. A Water-type. It lives along shores in northern countries. A skilled swimmer, it dives for over 10 minutes to hunt." Upon hearing this, Rico calmly commented, "Oh, that's cool and awesome."
Everything went smooth and good for quarter an hour, until suddenly, the leader of the tribe island, a male Empoleon, got angry and furious at the tour ferry, and called all of its Pokèmon friends to attack them. Oh, no, the tour ferry was in the Pokèmon Privacy Zone. His Pokèmon friends, however, responded by using Hydro Pump and Surf towards the tour ferry, creating a tsunami-like wave. The wave struck the ferry hard, creating a severe shake. The passengers held to railings, pillars, seats, and spaces between obstacles and equipment. The Pokèmon inhabitants then started to attack the ship itself, terrifying the passengers and the crew members. Almost everyone ran in all directions; they were crying and screaming; and others are being physically attacked by them. Belongings fell to the floor, holes, and the water. The Cruz family, however, is hiding at the bar table in the resto section, along with their Pokèmon. They were terrified, calling back all of their Pokèmon, except Riolu and Magneton.
"Why are they attacking us?"Rico asked in desperate. He then checked in his Pokédex; the Pokédex then responded, "Prinplup, the Penguin Pokèmon, and the evolved form of Piplup. A Water-type. Its wings deliver wicked blows that snap even the thickest of trees. It searches for prey in icy seas."
"Woah, that's intense," Rico calmly commented, "Well, what about the other, bigger one?" He then checked again in his Pokédex; his Pokédex then responded, "Empoleon, the Emperor Pokèmon, and final evolved form of Piplup. A Water and Steel-type. It swims as fast as a jet boat. The edges of its wings are sharp and can slice apart drifting ice."
"Woah, that's more intense royalty one," Rico calmly commented.
"Come on, son," Lucas told him, "Let's fight back." In response, Rico come out of his hiding place, and faced a bunch of Prinplups and Empoleons. While Rosario was still hiding, the father and son called their Pokèmon from their hiding place. Riolu and Magneton then stepped into the battle.
"Alright, Riolu," Rico commanded Riolu in seriousness, "Use Focus Blast!"
"Magneton, use Thundershock!" Lucas commanded Magneton. Their Pokèmon then used Focus Blast and Thundershock, striking the Water Pokèmon effectively, eventually fainting one of them. They then got aggressive, using Hydro Pump on them. Lucas and Rico and their Pokèmon then took cover to each other, but the Blue Ninja and his two Pokèmon intercepted the Pokèmon's attack. Lower their guard down, they both commented his sudden arrival and rescue in multiple lines.
"Get out of here," the Blue Ninja seriously told them, "We'll take it from here." In response, they and their Pokèmon nodded in agreement, and get out of the scene. Then, as the Blue Ninja was commanding his Pokèmon to use Thunderbolt and Water Shuriken, the Rico, Lucas, and their Pokèmon went to the other parts of the ship to help affected and injured people and to stop the Water Pokèmon. The captain and the crew members, however, are hiding in the captain's room, and locked the door. The fighting clashes are intense and property-damaging with crashing and water noises. Later, at the other part of the ship, Rico found a Piplup, who was too terrified and scared to battle with the others, hiding under one of the seats.
"What? A Piplup?" Rico thought, "Why it doesn't fight?" He then asked that Piplup why it doesn't want to fight.
"Piplup, Pip-lup," the Piplup responded in horror.
"Riolu, Riolu," Riolu responded in plain.
"I see why," Rico replied in figuring out, "Don't worry, I won't hurt you then;" he then carried Piplup on his shoulder and walked away, with Riolu following them.
At the second deck, Lucas was helping some people when Rico and his two Pokèmon intervened.
"Rico, oh, you're here," Lucas said to him upon seeing them, "Wait, why there's a Piplup on your shoulder?"
"Wow," Lucas replied, "Well, at least one of them is not hostile. Okay, since this is a safari, you may keep it. Besides, it's your first starter Pokèmon and Water-type Pokèmon."
"Thanks, daddy!" Rico happily replied. Then to Piplup in brightness, "Don't worry, I'll take you home."
"Pip?" Piplup responded in mild terror. Rico then nodded in response.
"Riolu!" Riolu added in happy response. After a quarter of a minute, Piplup happily responded, "Piplup!"
In the meantime, the Blue Ninja and his two powerful Pokèmon had managed to defeat the Water inhabitants. Almost being defeated, they retreated, jumping to the water and swim away back to their island home and sanctuary. Almost all of them retreated, except one Piplup. One of the Empoleons looked at Piplup, who then retaliated with an angry, resentment look. Of course in response, that Empoleon then looked at it angrily, before resuming to swim back to its island home. And so, the battle was intense, but luckily, the ship was still intact in one piece.
Later, as the sun left the center of the day and towards to set, the ship arrived at the harbours safely, sustaining a dozen of mild-to-normal damages. As soon as the anchor was dropped into the water, the embarking bridges are immediately loaded to the ship's exits, and the passengers grabbed their belongings and Pokèmon and exited immediately. The last people to exit is the Cruz family and their Pokèmon. And as the coast guard ventured off to the water in search of the passengers' lost belongings, the ship captain, taking his hat off, and the crew members apologized to the Safari's manager for the territorial and location error, while the tour guide, holding her megaphone, facepalm in sighing and disappointment. In the same time, the police and some ambulances came to help the victims and report the happening. Officer Jenny talked to Rico, Lucas, and some safari staff about the happening.
"You're saying that the Water inhabitants had attacked the ship because it's too close?" Officer Jenny asked them while recording them down in her notepad.
"Yes," Lucas briefly replied.
"And we battled them," Rico enthusiastically added.
"Hello, there Cruz," he greeted them.
"Detective Trevor!" Rico responded upon seeing him.
"Oh, Detective Trevor," Officer Jenny responded upon seeing him, "You're here." Showing her his detective's I.D., Trevor responded, "I'm here for the scene. What happened here?" His Pyroar them responded in mild seriousness. Officer Jenny then gave him her notepad. Trevor then leisurely read it, and then commented, "So, they're saying that the Water inhabitants or Piplups and their evolutions had attacked the ship because it's too close?"
"Yes," Officer Jenny briefly answered, "According to Rico, Lucas, and some safari staff." All this time Rico was holding Piplup like a teddy bear and his Riolu was next to him.
"Wow," Trevor replied in rising style, "That's awesome. Luckily, they knew what to do."
"Yeah, we did," Lucas brightly replied. After that response, Trevor looked at Rico, Riolu, and Piplup and said, "Well, Rico, good job out there."
"Thanks, detective," Rico happily replied. Riolu and Piplup then responded with happiness.
"Well, you may keep that Piplup," Trevor replied, "Did you catch it?"
"Not yet," Rico brightly replied.
"Yeah," Lucas brightly added, "Son, congrats." Then in a mild serious expression, "But just like I said before, you must take care of it."
"Yeah, dad, I got it now," Rico brightly retorted.
"Ri-olu!" Riolu brightly responded.
"Yeah, that's great, since this is a safari, you may catch it,"Officer Jenny brightly replied, "Anyhow, it's just you and your father drove them away?"
"Oh, we're not alone," Rico answered her question, "There's a kid with a Pikachu and a Kalos starter, and he's in a ninja suit and mask;" he then looked around to find that "Ninja." After a moment, he ran to the end of the harbour, only to see Blue Ninja and his two Pokèmon standing towards the sea.
"Hey, it's you again," Rico said to him, "I...uh...."
"Oh, it's you again," the Blue Ninja responded in interruption while turning around to see him, "So, how's your new Pokèmon, eh?" His Greninja then turned around, and responded in mild seriousness.
"Uh, awesome," Rico replied, "Anyway, just who are you?"
"Heh," the Blue Ninja replied in style, "You'll find out soon;" he then threw a smoke bomb, causing a red explosion around them. Rico then coughed repeatedly while closing his eyes and trying to clear the red smoke. When he opened his eyes, the smoke cleared, only to see that the Blue Ninja and his two Pokèmon had vanished into thin air, but left a folded letter on the ground. In response, Rico picked it up and took a look of it, evenly seeing a dark blue-colored, shuriken-shaped, wax seal that binds the letter closed-folded.
