Chapter 62 - 62 - Campillo's Vacation House
10:00 a.m. In their flight to Komati City, half an hour before landing at their destination, Rico, Piplup, and Riolu glanced at the plane window despite being at a seat next to the aisle and a bit obstructed by two passengers who had occupied in his side, looking at the suburbs of the capital city, Komati. The houses, streets, and the layout of the neighborhoods, however, are similar to most cities and towns in the whole region: They had businesses in either separate buildings or in the first floor of most buildings and the streets are fairly small to fit two vehicles in two lanes. The houses are often in different varieties, everything from type and shape to materials used to construct them.
"Wow, the neighborhood there was nice and good," Rico thought in his mind. "I can't wait to land and go out to see that big metropolis." Then, their attention got caught by the pilot's instructions for landing, as if they're now close to landing at Komati's large international airport. Rico and his two Pokémon then returned to their normal positions on their shared seat as Juan and Oshawott are reading a brochure about Komati and its city culture. Rico was excited to see the capital.
Then, at exactly 10:35 a.m., the plane landed at Komati's Khalil Memorial International Airport with a successful touchdown. Shortly thereafter, the plane parked at one of the airport's largest terminals and a jetway attached to the plane's main door and the door was opened for the jetway to attach. Once they seatbelt signs are turned off, everyone took off their seatbelts, stand up on the aisle, and start opening the overhead bins to get their belongings. Then, a few at the time, they and their Pokémon started to leave the plane and into the jetway towards the terminal with their belongings.
Once in the big and modern airport terminal, they went through security and, since they didn't have any other luggages, straight to the terminal's train station where they will take an elevated metro train to the city. Upon arriving they had train cards purchased from a cashier, who only charged them 50 Poké Dollars. The cards are loaded with 250 Poké Dollars for any fare in any of the city's train stations and terminals. After that, they swiped their cards at the ticket gates and went to the train platforms where a metro train, which just arrived moments ago, is waiting for them. While the doors are still open, they quickly boarded the train and take some vacant seats for themselves as they put their belongings beside them. The metro train at this time of day was not that busy and crowdy, giving them a calm place to take some rest. A minute later, the doors are closed and the train starts to leave the station towards its next stop, White Band Way. Along the way, even though it only took a few minutes, Rico and his Pokémon glanced at the metropolitan looks of the city through the window, looking with enthusiasm. Most of the buildings the train passes by are concrete and brick ones, usually 3 to 6 stories high, and usually had larger windows than the other ones. They even saw a big park as the train passes by. Their destination is Campillo's vacation house five blocks away from Vivid Bay station, which is after White Band Way station. Later, by 10:47 a.m., the trains stop at White Band Way, which in its surrounding area is a Pokémon Band and Concert Hall, where Pokémon bands and concerts are held. The doors are open and most of the passengers get off the train, except for Rico, Juan, and their teams. So it went on, until by 10:52 a.m., the doors are closed and train started to leave for its next stop, Vivid Bay station. Along the way, Rico was reading his one of his favorite books, The Story of the Six Knights, a story about six knights fighting against a neighboring kingdom at a city market as their place of showdown. Though it might be weird and ridiculous for some readers, Rico liked it a lot, considering it a peculiar place to have a battle. Juan was playing with his Pokémon while sitting on his seat.
"So, what's your vacation home looked like?" Rico asked Juan positively. Smiling at him, Juan answered, "You'll find out when we get there." Rico then chuckled nervously while looking at him, thinking like, "Okay then, if you say so."
By 11:00 a.m., the train arrived at Vivid Bay station, stopping at the platform steadily. It then opened its doors, and Rico, Juan, and their Pokémon get off and walked through the station platform. The station was just averagely busy. They then swiped their cards at the ticket gates, taking little of their money in the cards, and exited the station and outside in the city streets towards Campillo's vacation house. Along the way, they looked at the surrounding buildings in search of that said vacation house.
"Where is that house?" Rico asked Juan. Riolu then responded with asking.
"It was a few kilometers from the beach," answered Juan, "so we'll go to a street with a white and brown apartment."
"Okay then," Rico get it now. Just as expected, they found the street with a white and brown apartment in the front, and took a right turn towards their destination. A minute later, they founded Campillo's vacation house, which is a bit smaller and less taller than Campillo's original house back at Kawayan City. Upon entering through a brown-painted and metal gate and stepping on the stone pavement, they were amazed at its structure. The house was constructed on concrete stilts, it is accessible by stairs to the front porch. The purpose of this is to protect the house from being flooded, which is common during stormy days in that area. Nevertheless, the house itself is made of concrete and wood, with white paint in the outside and in the bottom. The outside of the roof is covered by reddish-orange, curved clay tiles. The stairs is also made of concrete, and the front porch was big and filled with furniture like chairs, tables, and a daybed with mattress in the inside of the porch next to the front door. Though it had lightbulbs, the porch includes three decorative lanterns hung up from the ceiling and can be lit up with matches. While climbing up the stairs, Rico commented positively about the house, "Wow, this place is really awesome."
"Yeah, this house was built by Professor Campillo 4 years ago," Juan explained about the house's history. They then entered the house using the key Campillo hid under a plant pot and rested at the living room, putting their belongings on the coffee table. The interior was a bit fancy, yet functional and decorative. The big room can be divided into a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room. It had a flat screen TV, but it is slightly smaller than the one at Rico's place; it also had a sacramento green, comfy sofa and an armchair, a redwood coffee table, dining table and chairs, and two end tables used for some storage. Other features were oak-made kitchen countertops, a metal sink, a small stove top with oven, four house plants, and a big, persian blue, wine red, and pineapple yellow carpet that covers the floor of the living room. Pass between the living room and kitchen is a hallway that leads to three rooms: the bathroom, the master bedroom, and Juan's bedroom. Since the house was a bit small, all of the rooms are in one-storey building, and the bedrooms are a bit small, but fully functional. Outside, the window frames are made of painted stainless steel, and the type is double slider. The front door is made of polished wood, and the type is decorative carved-wood.
Later on they went to the dining room to eat up the lunchboxes Rosario gave to them. They decided to feed their Pokémon early so they could have another lunch at a mall restaurant, where Campillo and Emerson are having a meeting. They got allured by their lunch's taste, especially the empanadas Rosario made for them.
"Wow, it's so good and delicious," Juan commented on the empanadas. "Man, dude, your mom is such a great chef." Their Pokémon are eating their special food.
"Yeah, thanks, Juan," responded Rico back happily as he drinks his glass of water. "You see, my mom was mostly taught by my father in making most of the dishes."
"Oh, I see," Juan get it now. They then continue enjoying their meal blissfully.
