Pokemon Pearl
Chapter 79 - 79 - Litleo vs. Electabuzz
Not long after, their warm-up period was over, and Rico and Joaquin went back to their Pokémon battle for a second round. And at that moment, Joaquin called his second and last Pokémon, Electabuzz, into battle after he had called his defeated Grotle back, and it stepped into the scene with cool seriousness, complete with an awesome pose and electrifying effects. This really stuns Rico and Riolu a lot.
"Wow, that Pokémon looks strong."
He then pulled out his Pokédex and point it towards Electabuzz; his Pokédex then responded, "Electabuzz, the Electric Pokémon. An Electric-type. It windmills its arms to slightly boost its punches. Foes have been known to escape in the meantime."
"That is so cool and tough," Rico commented upon hearing it. He then put his Pokédex back in his pants pocket. After that, Joaquin said to him, "My Electabuzz will electrify your Pokémon with its Thunder Punch." His Electabuzz then responded with cool seriousness. Riolu then responded back with determination.
"Then we will do our best!" Rico replied back with cool determination. Under the trees, Trevor commented, "This is gonna be a tough one, because, Electabuzz is bigger than Riolu." Juan then agreed with him in response.
Then, the second round of the battle had began.
"Alright, Riolu, use Focus Blast!" Rico commanded Riolu with cool seriousness. Riolu then used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power. But then, Joaquin commanded Electabuzz, "Electabuzz, use Thunderbolt!" Electabuzz then used Thunderbolt, loosing a strong electrical blast at the Focus Blast, colliding it and clashing in the center with power. And then, the Thunderbolt managed to disintegrate the Focus Blast greatly, but it did not attack Riolu. Rico was amazed at the Thunderbolt.
"Woah, that was so insanely strong."
"Quickly, use Shock Wave!" Joaquin commanded Electabuzz. Electabuzz then used Shock Wave, striking Riolu with a quick jolt of electricity.
"Riolu, dodge it!" Rico quickly commanded Riolu. But Riolu didn't see that coming, so it got struck by Electabuzz's Thunderbolt, and got weakened by it. In the audience, their friends got surprised by Riolu's almost defeat, but Riolu managed to get up and withstand it.
"Quickly, Riolu, charge and use Karate Chop!" Rico seriously commanded Riolu. Riolu then charged towards Electabuzz, jumped high, and used Karate Chop, attacking Electabuzz with a sharp chop. This inflicts it pain, but it also leaves Riolu paralyzed severely to the ground.
"Riolu!" Rico called it immediately. But then, Joaquin said to him, "So, do you still think your Pokémon will beat my mighty Electabuzz?" Rico can't say anything due to shock. Riolu was unable to move due to paralysis. So, Joaquin commanded Electabuzz seriously, "Alright Electabuzz, finish it with Thunder Punch!" Electabuzz then jumped high and used Thunder Punch, punching Riolu with an electrified fist, striking Riolu very severely, and eventually, it finishes it off. And as the dust clears, Riolu was defeated, and Joaquin had won the second round. Rico was shocked with stunning surprise, but quickly and without any hesitation or contempt, he accepted his defeat and called his Riolu back, telling it, "You did awesome, Riolu, you deserved some rest." He then put Riolu's Poké Ball in his Pokébelt, and turned towards Joaquin, commenting how strong Electabuzz was, before telling him that he was still up. In response, Joaquin let him go for another round, and even let him choose what Pokémon he will use. Upon hearing that, Rico was excited with acceptance, getting Litleo's Poké Ball and threw it forward, causing it to open, and Litleo came out and stepped into battle with positive alertness. Joaquin was very surprised with stunning, commenting back, "What the...? A Litleo?"
"Yes, this is Litleo, a Fire-type," responded Rico with cool determination. Litleo then responded with positive determination. In the audience, Juan commented with doubt, "I don't think Litleo will win against Electabuzz." His Dewott then responded with doubt as well.
"Electabuzz, use Shock Wave!" Joaquin commanded Electabuzz seriously. Electabuzz then used Shock Wave, striking Litleo with a quick jolt of electricity. But Rico quickly commanded Litleo, "Dodge it!" Litleo then responded by dodging the attack very quickly, shocking Joaquin and Electabuzz together. Rico then commanded Litleo, "Then use Flamethrower!" Litleo then used Flamethrower, opening its mouth and scorched an intense blast of fire, striking Electabuzz directly with power. And as Electabuzz endure such heavy damage, Joaquin was shocked at Litleo's fire power, thinking, "What? How that Pokémon's Flamethrower can be that strong?" And suddenly, his Electabuzz managed to get up, and determined not to be defeated by Litleo.
"Woah, it's still up?" Rico asked in surprised amazement. Electabuzz then used Thunderbolt, loosing a strong electrical blast at Litleo. But Litleo, again, dodged Electabuzz's attack with a swift movement, shocking Joaquin once more.
"Again, use Flamethrower!" Rico commanded Litleo in serious coolness. Litleo then again used Flamethrower, opening its mouth and scorched an intense blast of fire, striking Electabuzz even further than the previous. This time, Electabuzz was weakened more, and Joaquin was panicking in alert. His options are very limited, and one more hit from Litleo means he will lose the battle. How he, as a young man of noble descent, could lose from a boy of humble beginnings? So, with a serious tone, Joaquin commanded Electabuzz, "Electabuzz, use Thunder Punch!" And when Electabuzz is about to use Thunder Punch, Rico quickly commanded Litleo, "Quickly, use Headbutt!" Litleo then used Headbutt, sticking out its head and ram straight forward towards Electabuzz, striking it with a significant amount of damage. Finally this time, Electabuzz was defeated, thus ending the battle finally. Joaquin was very shocked at his defeat; he knew that will come, and he will lose.
Later that afternoon, at the city's huge Pokémon Center, as they wait for their Pokémon to be fully healed, Joaquin thanked Rico for the test battle, acknowledging his strength and even promised that he will train more seriously in the future. Rico, in response, appreciated it, but also, reminded him to spend some time with his Pokémon as a part to raise stronger Pokémon. Joaquin then accepted it, saying, "I will." Professor Campillo and Juan are surprised by Joaquin's willingness to spend some time with his Pokémon. Joaquin accepted it, believing it is part of his training so he could give honor to his ancestors. And all this time, Emerson was back at the Komati Valleys to ȧssist in the festival.
Later at night, by 9:29 p.m., at Campillo's vacation house, as Juan was, again, listening to his favorite audiobook, Rico was having a conversation with his parents on phone while gazing at the stars in the balcony. Rico told them about his day, while apologizing for not calling them in the morning and noon. But, Lucas and Rosario told him that it is okay, acknowledging that Rico had a rough day. Hearing that, Rico sighed in relief, and thanked them happily. After that, Rico went on telling them about Joaquin and his ancestry, which really surprised his parents. And after some time, he ended his conversation with them, and went back inside.
At Juan's bedroom, Rico wrote in his journal about his rough and hard day, writing it in a well-documented way, as if it is like a documentary written in ink and words. By 10 o'clock, Rico went to bed and slept peacefully, allow with his Pokémon on the soft carpet. The night was peaceful, amidst the busy environment off the city districts as the stars create a beautiful scenery.
