Pokémon: Reborn As Lucas

"Let's go, Piplup" "Let's go, Chimchar"

The two Pokémon faced each other and started to walk forward. When they were around 10 meters apart they stopped. Although they have known each other basically since their birth they wanted to show their strength and determination to their new trainers which is why they looked very serious.

From the side came Dawn and next to her was Turtwig.

She stopped next to the field and announced: " I will be the referee of this match! This is the first Pokémon battle of Lucas and Barry from Twinleaf Town. Each of them will use their just acquired Pokémon to battle until one side can't keep on fighting."

This announcement caused Barry and Lucas to nod their head in confirmation.

After she saw them nodding and seeing they understood the rules she declared:"Then without further ado.. Let the Battle begin!!!!"

After she finished her sentence Chimchar followed Barrys instructions and ran up to Piplup as fast as it could. When it arrived you could hear the command to attack which is when Chimchar used scratch.

Piplup had already expected this and easily dodged. However what it did not expect was that Chimchar did not care about missing once and directly launched another attack that hit Piplup.

Shocked by that follow up it took Piplup a second to realize what was happening when it was suddenly hit by another scratch.

He started to concentrate more and when he finally saw that Piplup had the chance to break free because Chimchar was getting slower after using scratch for many times clumsily.

He instantly instructed Piplup to use 'Growl' to gain some distance. This attack was very effective as it stopped the attack flow of Chimchar. Then he decided to counter attack. Piplup therfore used pound to put some distance between him and Chimchar.

Piplup was already breathing heavily and it looked like it could not hold on for much longer. Lucas grew even more anxious and called out: "Piplup, are you ok? Can you keep going?"

"Piip.. Plup " Piplup was happy that its new trainer cared for it so much even though they just got to know each other. On the other hand this made it even worse for it as it really wanted to show Lucas how strong it was.

Showing its determination it stood in an offensive stance and was ready to start an attack. Lucas was happy to see that but he could still not figure out how to turn the situation around.

Meanwhile while Chimchar was on the offense, Barry was cheering for it from the back which strengthened its resolve to keep attacking.

It did not expect such good counter from Piplup and was now again standing opposite of it. It also noticed that Piplup might not be able to hold on for much longer and was therefore surprised by the offensive stance that Piplup took.

While all of this happened Lucas could feel some pain in his left arm which broke his concentration. For the first time since he arrived in this world he paid attention to the smart watch on his left wrist. On it he could see a bar on top of the screen that was glowing red.

Under the bar he could see multiple other things. On it were displayed many different things. He wondered why it would want its attention right in this important moment when he suddenly realized what the screen displayed.

But it weren't just two attacks as he had guessed previously. There were three. The two attacks he knew that Piplup could perform were displayed but there was one more which was displayed. It was an attack called 'Bubble'.

Not knowing why he trusted this thing, that hurt his wrist so much and displayed these characteristics, but his anxiousness suddenly vanished. He looked up again and saw that Chimchar was about to attack again.

Before the attack could hit he immediately yelled out: " Dodge and then use bubble!"

This loud yell startled Chimchar for a short moment and gave Piplup the chance to dodge the incoming attack. Afterwards it jumped high into the air and shot a stream of bubbles at the little fire ape. This atack caused dust to surround them not knowing what situation Chimchar was in.

Lucas and Barry however could imagine the outcome as the attack was very effective. When the dust settled they could see Chimchar laying down, unable to battle further.

Dawn walked near Chimchar to see if it could keep going. As she saw that it could not she announced Lucas as the winner.

Barry was also next to her and picked his Chimchar up from the ground. Although he was disappointed he knew that his Pokémon did his best.

Lucas was happy and did a short celebration with Piplup while further telling it that it did really well. This caused Piplup to feel proud and happy that it managed to leave a good first impression.

Lucas however was not just happy because he won. There were other reasons that made him even happier.

Although he was very happy he was also quite insecure as he did not know if his action of checking his smartwatch was noticed by anyone during the match but for now he wanted to keep it a secret. He himself will need some time later to explore the functions of his watch when he has the chance to be alone.
