Rebellious Path

Chapter 36 - The Vampire's Dungeon

We quickly got out of the carriage and I proceeded to stretch my limbs just to you know... fix up the cramps I'm feeling. I then shook my head one more time as I turned to look at the girls who were wearing smiles on their faces. Elena, then proceeded to speak, "SInce we have already arrived, let's spare no more time!"

Of course, the other girls, and I, myself included, coherently agreed. I mean, what's there to waste time on? And in fact, I'm quite curious about what is in that dungeon. It certainly doesn't feel the least bit normal. Heck, I haven't experienced this unease for a long time that this is such a weird feeling placed upon me.

With that out of the way, we walked together side by side, with me... in the middle, I suppose, as if I was the leader. We then proceeded to walk towards the huge gate that seemed to serve as the entrance for the dungeon and I couldn't help but be in awe just looking at such intricate designs embedded upon it.

As we arrived at the front of the gates, the guard seemed to stop us, not in an imposing manner, but in a friendly way. They walked towards us whilst both of them seemed to realize who the girls were. They then proceeded to speak in a respectful manner, "Welcome to Dungeon, Princess, we are glad that you have arrived safely! We shouldn't further delay you so we shall open the gates immediately!"

Was this... some kind of security or something? Maybe to avoid unnecessary casualties of careless entering? Or maybe to assess the strength of the person who enters or something? I guess I should ask Elena later on, but for now...

Quickly moving, we didn't waste any time in unnecessary words or things like that, we immediately walked inside the dungeon with only a slight bow. I already prepared myself for what to come so if anything happens, I can certainly protect them all without any problems whatsoever, but this unnerving feeling is just running down my spine every second.

Just as we entered, space seemed to warp as the plains, the scenery... every single thing... seemed to suddenly change. It reeked of the smell of blood everywhere and it was as if countless beings were watching your every move. My senses seemed to climb up as I went alert and the four did as well.

Furrowing my brows, I instantly decided to cast a barrier as I asked Elena, "I don't know a thing about this dungeon, but I can't help but ask, why were there guards stationed here?"

Elena, suddenly feeling a wave of ease, turned around to look at me as she said, "This dungeon... is very weird... The other dungeons don't have any guards whatsoever because there are floors or stages perhaps. The weakest monsters tend to stay at the top floor and the strength will increase the further you delve deeper..."

"However, for this one... it's a special case... A person without a single shred of nobility will immediately die as they enter this place. There is only a single floor as reported and the monsters are by no means weak... Only nobles entered and only a few survived..."

Hearing that whole summary, I couldn't help but furrow my brows. A person with no nobility will die upon entering... But I haven't died yet... Am I a special case? Probably not. But satisfied with what she said, I nodded my head and started to look around for any dangers whatsoever. According to Elena, this place should be... very dangerous.

"Stick closer to me", I said as I walked cautiously towards the girls. They also walked towards me slowly, and much more cautiously since they didn't have this automatic enemy sensing status thingy. Being cautious is good, that's what I say.

As they arrived at my side, an alert suddenly sounded out and panels started appearing in front of me which did give me quite a surprise, but that surprise ended in an instant as I realized how many the opponents were.

Those monsters... we're strong. The girl's levels, HP, and MP, at the same time, failed to even compete. If I wasn't here, then they'd certainly be dead. And what's more, all of the monsters seemed to be vampire-related, so that must mean the nobility thingy is because of them...

Though, no time to spare, I must protect the girls from harm. I've already grown close to them even if we've only been in contact for how many days?... two or three? It doesn't matter as I feel like they are already my family.

The carrier negated their attacks whilst the girls suddenly felt their knees weakening due to fright, in this case, isn't a good thing at all. I turned around to look at them as I tried to calm them down, "They are really strong, but don't worry, you're gonna be fine."

They seem to calm down a little bit after I said that, and I immediately turned serious as I started my counter-attack. The tattoo that was placed unto my arm glowed as it started to form into the rope dart certainly shocking the girls, but I have no time for that.

I simply whipped the chains towards the monsters, and they screeched as they got torn down. Just then, I could hear a slow and weak mutter... it was certainly high pitched and it said, "Must... drink... blood...", just then, the uneasiness I felt earlier seemed to come out as I stared at a certain figure that was extremely fast right before me.

'So this was the cause...', I was fast enough to get a clear look at the figure and it looked like... it was a young child... pure crimson eyes... filled with bloodthirsty and the intent... to murder. This was just... it seemed so awful looking at a scene wherein a child-like figure looked so twisted in pain and suffering... just what was this?

I proceeded to look at the girls beside me and they looked like they were struggling as my barrier already broke down as I had not laid down a particularly strong barrier and there was A LOT of monsters attacking it. I then proceeded to look at the remaining monsters as I instantly cast a spell, no... an orb made of light magic, and threw it to them.

Screeching in pain, the monsters seemed to fade away from existence as I stared at the figure who had a panel hovering right above saying [Royal Vampire Demon (Level 63)], it seemed to have lost all its sanity and s trying to obliterate everything at its path, but for one thing, I could feel a tiny bit of sanity that is a major hope...

"Mama.....", the figure spoke in a high pitched voice again as it trembled as if it was getting shackled by pain all over. Earlier, I was set on killing it... but now... Maybe there was a chance to save him or her?

Just then, feeling suddenly cold, I heard small bits of maniacal laughter echoing throughout the whole entire dungeon. That caused a shiver to run down my spine as I prepared myself for what to come and that happened... Something so disgusting suddenly burst out of the figure before me that gore scenes from books can't even compare...
