That incident ended up leaving a shadow on Adrian's heart, and because of that, he started to train harder recently. Motivated, he began to put in more effort than previously.

As for Odette, she preferred watching his persistent training and watched over him, guiding the child whenever he needed it. His diligence managed to impress her quite a lot.

In the meanwhile, she decided to pay attention to their safety. It wasn't a big deal to her; however, it would be terrible if a trauma was set for Adrian.

Indeed, even she was surprised by how considerate she could be.

But recalling how the child was shivering in her arms when she brought him home the other day, she knew he couldn't go through it again, at least not now. Moreover, she didn't have the heart to give him a cruel training to become stronger.

Odette chuckled. For Adrian, she was close to being a so-called good person now— or at least close to that.

Her eyes fell on the boy laying on grass. The sunlight spilled on his face while sweat dripped down his forehead. His ċhėst heaved as he tried to bring his breathing under control.

Odette made her way over to him and got on her knees. Extending her hand, she began to wipe the sweat off his forehead with her forehead. Exhaustion was visible in his eyes as he smiled at her weakly.

"You are quite resilient," she expressed.

Both of them stared at each other for couple of seconds when Adrian suddenly grew invigorated all of a sudden and sat up. Looking at the brightness in his eyes subconsciously made Odette wear a smile.

"Say, Lady Odette, you love me the best, right?" Adrian's tone was relatively cheerful as he made that cheeky remark.

Odette was fairly amused. Raising one of her eyebrows, she brought her hand close to him and pinched on his nose.

She questioned, "What makes you think that way?"

Eagerly, Adrian raised his hand, folding it into a fist, and took his finger out one by one as he counted along. "You treat to me to delicious snacks and buy me a lot of toys. You even spend a lot of time with me and teach me as well. You did none of that for Dennis."

In the beginning, she indeed brought Dennis with ambitions and plans in her mind, but right now, all of that was abandoned.

As rare as it may seem, Odette felt lazy and was content with life currently. The tranquility right now did not feel bad to her, and she dėsɨrėd for it to continue.

She convinced herself there was nothing wrong with so until she got bored of it.

"Is that so? What do I do now? Suddenly, I feel like taking care of Dennis better all of a sudden," Odette teased.

Her words caused wrinkles of appear between both of Adrian's eyebrows, and he tightly clutched on to her arm.

Then, he declared, "You can't do that! I don't like him."

Adrian's touch didn't invoke any unpleasant emotions inside her, and Odette let out a laugh while she commented, "Look at you being this audacious!"

From the corner, Dennis was watching the entire scene unfold, and bitterness crawled up within him, gnawing his insides terribly.

As his hands were tightened into a fist, he dug his fingers into his calm and tried to bring his feelings under control, knowing he couldn't afford losing composure.
