Second Chance - To Live Again

For a moment, her brain stuttered as her body went on pause with her thoughts was trying to catch up. After a while, she managed to calm down, but the big question was still unanswered.

"You..." Fu Yixiao's eyes were glued on the girl's physiques. Her look and height were exactly like her except that she was a bit chubby. Nonetheless, her face was a copy of hers.

"Where is the wound?" The girl went to touch Fu Yixiao's body and stopped when her palm felt the uneven texture in her shoulder. She pulled her hand and saw the trace of blood on her palm.

"This. When, where and how did you get wounded?" she asked. Her face was white as chalk.

"I was chased by five men and received a bullet from one of them," Fu Yixiao answered. Honestly, she wanted to yell and force the answers out of the girl for she was at the edge of sanity. So many things had happened and seeing someone that looked like herself was the last thing on her mind.

"Did we miscalculated?" The boy asked. He too was perplexed after seeing the wound.

"Impossible, I've calculated the timing perfectly," Granny Wu was shaking her head in disagreement.

"Can someone tell me the situation here?" Fu Yixiao's question attracted everyone's attention. However-

"Granny Wu, what if the event here is different?" The boy asked.

"Impossible, the worlds we went so far were exactly the same," Granny Wu once again shook her head. Suddenly, she groaned with a terrified face.

"How many universes have we gone to?" she shuddered when she finished the question.

"This is the third one," the doppelganger of Fu Yixiao answered nervously. She could sense that she was about to listen to some bad news.

Granny Wu slapped her forehead in apprehension. A series of thoughts were on her mind.

"We've exceeded the limit. The portal cannot be used more than three times,"

Both the boy and the girl were in shock but when they were about to inquire for more information, Fu Yixiao who was ignored for quite some time had lost her patience and was looking at them with her reddened eyes.

"Mind explaining? or should I leave you grounded in this cave," the people who heard her threatening message froze as the temperature surrounding them dropped to zero. Their eyes were trying to observe her expression only to find her eyes piercing through them like a bolt of lightning.

Granny Wu coughed to free herself from the fear that gripped her heart. 'Why is she so different?' she thought.

Sighing, she stared at the girl standing beside her who was also looking at her with an affirming smile. 'Tell her,' was the message she perceived from it.

"And this is Fu Yixiao-" she paused, analyzing Fu Yixiao's expressions. Seeing her composed looked, she continued, "As you can see, both of you are the same. This is Fu Yixiao,"

Granny Wu was expecting Fu Yixiao to lose a bit of her composure but contrary to her expectation, the girl with a gun in her right hand was like a blank page, devoid of emotion. However, her eyes were fiery which she thought was amusing.

"This-it's a bit difficult to explain," Granny Wu stuttered. Wu Zhaoyi noticed that and was quite shocked to see her stammered. Noticing his questioning look, Granny Wu motioned for him to explain. Wu Zhaoyi sighed before looking at Fu Yixiao.

"We came from another universe," and like Granny Wu, Wu Zhaoyi also paused to see the kind of appearance from Fu Yixiao after learning the truth. Still, she maintained her calm demeanor.

"Have you read about multi-universes? or the theory on a parallel universe? The short version is there is another you in another universe," Wu Zhaoyi was expecting a surprised look to surface on Fu Yixiao's face. However, his question was left unanswered which made him lose the interest to explain the longer version.

"Granny Wu had developed a portal that allowed us to visit another universe,"

"You know, you shouldn't act calm. If I haven't met you earlier, this world would end for sure. Like the previous worlds," Wu Zhaoyi sighed as he sat on one of the rocks inside the cave. He stared at Fu Yixiao, irritated that he couldn't tell what she was thinking, unlike the other Fu Yixiaos he had met.

"You and I, are we really the same person?" Fu Yixiao finally broke the silence. She stared at the girl who claimed to be another Fu Yixiao.

"Yes and no. We look similar but there are differences such as me who came from another world," the other Fu Yixiao answered truthfully.

"I see," Fu Yixiao tried to swallow the story for now. The more she listened the more she would learn about the situation. Therefore, making a fuss wasn't a wise move.

"You're not surprised?" the other Fu Yixiao asked. She had a keen observation and among the Fu Yixiaos she had met, the 'her' in front of her was the calmest one. There was a slight change in her eyes but it was more like she was having enlightenment that untied the knot on her mind.
