Second Chance - To Live Again

Fu Yixiao was slightly shocked at the statement.

"Heh, I thought you're an emotionless thug," The other Fu Yixiao teased after seeing the shocking expression on Fu Yixiao's face.

"It was her who send me here," Fu Yixiao argued. She had been thinking while running as a fugitive that the training Yun Xi had arranged for her was to prepare for this situation. Even if it wasn't her hand that sent her here, her involvement in the matter could easily be proven.

"I also thought the same before but it was her who saved me from the island. She-"

"Get to the point," Fu Yixiao interrupted. She preferred to hear the real problem than arguing whether Yun Xi was a saint or a devil. The other Fu Yixiao was startled at the sudden interruption but obediently complied.

At some point, she noticed that she and the Fu Yixiao in this world were not the same in personality. She was a bit timid but the Fu Yixiao in front of her was formidable both emotionally and physically. She wondered what made her difference for a while before revealing more of the information she needed to convey.

"In each universe, there is only one portal. And in this world, the portal is on this island. To activate that portal, a sacrifice is needed. There are specific traits of the person chosen as a sacrifice. A female under the age of twelve and blood-related to the person who found the portal. We are the chosen one because-" the other Fu Yixiao wasn't able to proceed as tears ran down her cheek. Granny Wu held the girl's hand to soothe her for she knew the emotions she was going through.

At the same time, Fu Yixiao started to feel uncomfortable on her stomach. She knew for the other her to cry, an irksome truth was connected to it. She looked at Wu Zhaoyi, nodding at him to explain. Wu Zhaoyi sighed as he rolled his shoulder to loosen his muscle.

"It was your father who found the portal," he stopped, thinking that it was sufficient as an explanation. However, Fu Yixiao was staring at him with a deep frown on her face.

"My father? Fu Haifeng?" Fu Yixiao asked. However, Wu Zhaoyi was already closing his eyes. "I'm tired, asked your twin," he said nonchalantly. The truth was, he didn't like to see the other Fu Yixiao to cry. For it was always the same situation no matter which universe they went to. At least, the Fu Yixiao of this world was a bit different.

Fu Yixiao sneered at Wu Zhaoyi before shifting her attention to the other Fu Yixiao whose condition seemed to be better.

Meeting her gaze, the other Fu Yixiao exhaled. "Fu Haifeng and Lu Yiantao aren't our real parents,"

she made the effort to be calm while explaining, however, droplets of tears were invoked at the corner of her eyes.

"This-" Fu Yixiao was stunned at the revelation. Her lips quivered at some of the information decoded in her mind. 'No way,' she thought after pondering over the information she just learned.

"The woman to marry into the Fu family must be fertile and Lu Yiantao wasn't one of those women. After marrying Fu Haifeng, she demanded a fertilized egg of Han Xiangzhi and Yun Bing; making her the surrogate mother. Those egg-,"

"-is us," Fu Yixiao interjected. She breathed in real slow faking a calm expression to hide the pain in her heart. At first, when she heard that Lu Yiantao and Fu Haifeng weren't her parents, she was hoping that her real parents were better than them.

Yet, she was beaten down by her own expectation, one that created a scar inside her.

"Father knew I was in this island?" she asked and the other Fu Yixiao nodded.

"He was the one who instructed his underling to kidnap you to this jungle," she clarified as her eyes explored the expressions revealed in Fu Yixiao's face. She appeared to be calm but her eyes couldn't hide the agony she felt.

"You said earlier that he needed me to open the portal, so why did he make me go through all of the ordeals?" Fu Yixiao felt something was off for it was easier for that man to make her the sacrifice without having her going through the torture of the jungle and those men she had killed.

"In order for the sacrifice to fully operate, the sacrifice cannot die easily. Perhaps, he thought that the whole survival will make you stronger," Granny Wu who was keeping quiet all this while, finally talked. She wanted to say more but hesitated.

Fu Yixiao stared at the old woman and wondered about her relationship with the whole event. "I'm sorry to ask, but how are the two of you related to her?" she asked with her thumb pointed toward Wu Zhaoyi and the other Fu Yixiao.
