Kai got the general gist of the situation. This seemed to be a conflict between the Twin-Lions Sect and the Roaring Sands Sect. Going around wasn't an option so they had to either wait it out or go back.

"Thanks for the chat, We'll be heading off now"

Kai stood up and left, with Ryu quietly following behind him.

"Wait!, Mr. Kai, please have a drink with us first before you..."

"No thanks, I don't drink alcohol" Kai immediately turned them down.

"But...it's tea..."

"..."

Kai pretended that he didn't hear that last part and went over to the barman who also seemed to be running the inn. The prices for a shared room were double of Huang City and were priced at 2 copper per bed. Single rooms were even worse with one being 15 copper a night. This was triple that of Huang City. They were obviously taking advantage of the unstable situation and lack of competition.

Kai paid for a single room anyway since he had more than enough silver. He also wanted privacy and felt it was worth it. After he paid, He went up to the room with Ryu. He took off his backpack and threw it on the bed.

Ryu, I want to go gather some information so I may not be back until morning, keep this backpack safe with your life, understood?"

Ryu was already preparing his bedding on the floor when he heard this. "I won't let it out of my sight for even the slightest moment, you have my word Master!"

Kai was a little surprised by how zealous the kid was, he just meant for him to keep it safe. Other than the large quantity of food, there wasn't anything too valuable in it...

"Good. Keep the door locked and don't open it for anyone". With that, Kai pulled his hat down and jumped out the window. The room was located on the third floor but Kai's enhanced body was easily able to absorb the impact.

Kai quietly left the town and followed the only path leading away from the outpost. He moved quickly and was well camouflaged with his black robes. He occasionally scanned his surrounding with [Qi Detection] to make sure no beasts were trying to sneak up on him, but this was completely unnecessary. Kai was now able to see much more clearly in the dark up to 10 meters ahead, so he felt confident moving at night.

He attributed this new night vision to the qualitative changes that his breakthroughs had. Each time he broke through, his senses and thought processes experienced an improvement alongside his Qi.

Kai traveled for less than half an hour before he started hearing the faint sounds of battle. He carefully moved closer to the action.

The reason Kai had come here was simple, he wanted to accurately gauge the battle ability of Internal Cultivators in this world. He had fought two internal cultivators before, but when he thought about it, they were both wandering cultivators who were just F-Rank trash. Considering their ages, they would probably be stuck at that level forever had he not liberated them from their meager existences.

Kai wanted to see what real internal cultivators were capable of firsthand rather than through hearsay.

As he was thinking this, he saw a sudden flash of light followed by a crashing sound. In the dead of night, Kai stopped moving and fixed his eyes on the constant flashing lights. The lights were moving quickly and were followed by the ringing sound of metal clashing together. Kai was still too far away to see, but with his enhanced hearing, he could hear the battle clearly.

"Old Ji, you look like you're getting tired", said a condescending voice of a middle-aged man.

"Bah, who is getting tired?. I haven't even warmed up yet. Take this!, Lions Roar!" Yelled an older-sounding voice.

An ear-splitting roar was heard. It sounded as if an ancient beast had descended onto the earth and was going on a rampage. Kai could even feel the earth-shaking from where he was which shocked him..

"Splitting Sands!", yelled the middle-aged voice in a slight panic. The earth violently shook again, forcing the large trees to drop countless leaves.

"The hell kind of fight is this" Kai felt he was still very far away from the fight yet the shock-waves alone were already terrifying. Kai wondered just how powerful the two were to be able to cause this phenomenon with just a few skills.

"So who might this be..."

Kai's body stiffened as he looked towards the sound of the voice coming from the shadows. He felt a cold sweat run down his back and his knees slightly wobble. He had carefully inspected the surroundings and hadn't seen or detected anyone when he arrived, so he was completely taken by surprise.

Kai activated his [Qi Detection] and took up a stance, ready to either defend himself or flee.

[Human -[1965 Qi] D- Rank]

Kai was terrified. This person was at D-Rank!. Kai now had a better understanding of how the system measured internal cultivators based on their max Qi pool.

This person had a max Qi pool of [1965 Qi] which the system considered to be the lower range of D-Rank. Once he broke through to 10,000 Qi, he would then be considered C-Rank. Even though the system considered him a low D-Rank, he was still the strongest cultivator that Kai had encountered since arriving in this world. The man walked out of the shadows with his arms behind his back and quietly inspected Kai.

He looked to be advanced in age and Kai assumed he was at least 60 or even 70 just by his external looks. He had long white hair tied neatly behind his head and had a classic sage's beard running down from his chin to his chest.

His clothing was a combination of white and red robes and armor. The man inspected Kai curiously before he spoke. "Young one, it is quite dangerous here, I suggest you come over here".

His voice sounded wise beyond measure, almost as if his words were magical. Kai even felt compelled to fall onto his knees and thank the man for sharing his wise words while crawling over to him.

"This guy is dangerous," Kai thought as he quickly backed away from the man.

The man simply watched Kai leave as she stroked his beard with his hand, eyes full of interest. Once Kai was out of sight, the man smiled curiously.

"What an interesting boy. My words of power did not affect him whatsoever. I'll have to look for him once things have been settled."

The man looked towards the sounds of battle as his smile disappeared.. He stroked his beard yet again and quietly walked towards the heart of the battle.
