Chapter 7: It was a huge success

Let me start with the results.

The strategy that Kira had given me was surprisingly successful.

“Amazing, amazing Kira! I’ve made 101 Rin(Large copper coin) today alone!”

I was so happy that I danced around the room, and Kira was cool, but his mouth hung up a little, indicating that he was satisfied with the result.

Twenty-one, including Kira, I had managed to use my healing magic on them and achieve my goal.

“You know what? The key is to be mysterious. You have to work with them, but you have to bring them into your worldview!”

Under the direction of such a talented director.

The first thing I did was to step out of the alleyway when I saw a lone student passing by and called out to him sorrowfully.

“You look like you’re in a lot of pain and suffering…… And yet you’re doing your best every day.”

The point is to have tears glistening in your eyes… Apparently.

As Kira said, I silently wept as I stared at them, and both the boy and the girl’s cheeks turned red as if they were dreamily crying.

“O-onesan… who are you?”

“Me? I’m a healing angel sent by God to earth. Aren’t I beautiful?”

It’s a crazy line for me to say, but for some reason, when I said it, they all agreed, “Definitely…!”

I couldn’t bear the thought of cheating these innocent children, but I told myself that this was for tonight’s lodging and food, and finally used my healing magic.

Yes.

As Kira had guessed, children as young as those attending the elementary school had been injured at some point in their bodies, no matter how small.

My healing spells are effective not only for injuries, but also for tooth decay, colds, and even vision loss…… I succeeded in casting healing spells on almost everyone, except for those who became suspicious and ran away.

(I’m pretty sure I’m the only Saint who’s ever done this.)

In fact, it would be more effective if it were combined with analysis magic. None of the children were so badly injured, as they were in good health at the school itself.

So I used the magic, sending golden grains of light flying, and the children were thrilled as if they had witnessed a miracle.

……That’s why.

I was filled with happiness as I earned 101 Rin in just two hours or so.

And it’s about time that the worms in my stomach start to get energized again.

The evening bell rang, and it was getting dark. There were no more people on the street, so we decided to call it a night.

“Kira, do you have a home?”

“……There is no such thing. You can tell by the way I’m dressed.”

When I checked to be sure, he gave me a snippy reply.

I smiled and said.

“I don’t have a home either. Hey, Kira, you’re staying at the inn with me, right?”

“……That’s money you’ve earned.”

“I got the money because of Kira’s instructions. That’s more than half of what I owe you.”

When I said this, Kira still looked hesitant, but eventually gave a small nod.

“But I don’t think the innkeepers in the capital would accept such a dirty looking kid.”

Then, I clap my hands.

“Then let’s go buy some clothes right now! Because I’ve made a lot of money!”

I smiled at him.

Kira’s eyes widened and then let out a chuckle.

“I don’t think tomorrow is going to be like this.”

(Somehow Kira’s got a wicked smile on his face!)

I thought, but I didn’t say it.

Because it looked so fun.

 ◇◇◇

The following evening.

“Onesan, you’re amazing! It was exactly what the kids in my class were saying!”

“I’m glad. You feel fine now, don’t you?”

“Yeah! It doesn’t hurt anymore. Thank you! Oh, here’s your money!”

I waved to the girl with a smile and said, “Bye, bye!”

After receiving my reward of five Rin, I skipped back to the alleyway where Kira was waiting for me.

I couldn’t afford very expensive clothes, but Kira is wearing clothes that are neither torn nor dirty.

Besides, he looked much fairer than yesterday, probably because he had slept in a covered bed and had eaten well.

……Due to the amount of money we had, we had one room, but different beds.

Although I was fine with either, Kira insisted that if there was only one bed, he would sleep on the floor, so I took the one with two beds.

“We did it, Kira! It’s a success again!”

“Okay, that’s 165 Rin today.”

I wanted to give him a high five, but Kira collected the five Rin nonchalantly with the crisp face of a strategist.

This brings the total number of students I have cured to thirty-three.

Yesterday’s total was 54 students, so the total amount was 266 Rin.

Things are going so well that it’s scary. And it hasn’t even been an hour since I started lurking in the back alleys today.

“I’m so full, I could heal any number of people today!”

“You didn’t run out of magic yesterday?”

“It’s all in the mindset. I could even heal everyone in the capital today.”

As I was getting carried away, Kira almost loosened the edges of his mouth and then covered it in panic.

“But it really is amazing, Kira. I can’t believe it worked out so well.”

When my eyes lit up, Kira cleared his throat.

“Have you noticed anything? There were a lot of students walking around by themselves today, right?”

“…..Now that you mention it, yes.”

And I think there were a lot of kids who were looking at their surroundings.

Kira then told me in a seedier tone.

“Children・love・secrets.”

“Secret?”

“So. Most of the time, they don’t tell their parents or teachers…… But they’ll spread the word to other students, so the more time that passes, the more money we can make.

“Why do they tell the students?”

“Because they want to show off the treasures they’ve found.”

Kira smiles mischievously.

“Children who go to and from school alone do not have many friends, although there are exceptions. I had my injuries healed by a beautiful woman who hung out on my way to school. When I walk alone, people call out to me. What kind of information can I provide to start a conversation? And if the fact that you met the woman or that she healed your injuries starts to have value, you’re all set. They will come looking for you.”

“A treasure trove… Pretty lady… !”

(That’s what you thought of me!)

I leaned in close to hug Kira.

But he ducked just in time to give me an ugly look. I was sad.

“A woman who saves the day is like an angel in everyone’s eyes, right? That’s what I’m trying to say!”

“That’s right. I healed Kira’s leg.”

“This is not about me!”

Kira’s face turned red and he started to get angry.

“I’m sorry”

I smiled and apologized, and Kira continued.

“But it’s not over yet.”

“What do you mean?”

“Because this is like an investment in catching the big fish.”

(Fish?…… You mean fishing! ?)

When my stomach growled, Kira was looking at me as if she was looking at some unfortunate creature…
